Definitely not! Masterchef like Eric were all originally just great home cooks. You don't need to set your standards too high and I promise dedication of a few more month will definitely turn you guys into much better cooks!
You just need to do it regularly, not just only for the video. Just cook daily for a year and your skills will definitely improve a lot

It's surreal how different Eric is today compared to the home cook who told Alvin that his dish isn't burnt and become a lot, lot better throughout the competition and won it all. This is just so cool.

Problem is he made a filling that doesn’t compliment the cheese so it just overpowers the filling. If he made a starch mix for tuiles you get that crunch (though he didn’t taste the filling so would probably be bland 😂)

I'm surprised Eric* was surprised that he put eggs in the dumpling meat. I also put eggs in the dumpling meat, which actually acts as a binding agent for the meat onto the dumpling wrapper.
I one time didn't put eggs, and what happened was that the meat does not stick to the wrapper when cooked, so if you bite the dumpling in half, the meat falls right out and separates from the cooked wrapper. Adding egg to the meat makes the meat stick to the wrapper even when cooked, so when you take a bite (especially for little kids because their mouths can't fit a whole dumpling), the meat sticks to the wrapper even after you cut it.
You need that egg.

I never watch him before except school diners back in the day. Terrible cook. I just know fried rice and the chicken is wrong. Gado gado we don’t ever put soy sauce . We boil the peanut butter to let the oil out and then add chili and garlic.
