We've had one of these for 5 years now and tend to use it after first cut at the end of June. Have found that using it just before spreading slurry works well and help get the grass up and away quickly, as well as helping to give a lot of good lush leafy grass. We were also told that to have the best effect it should be done when the ground is dry as this increases the cracking effect.

Hi Dan thanks for sharing this video with us. It will be interesting to see how much it helps your fields. People do say they make a big difference to there land specially after 1st cut.

Great video, all you need now is a set of drag harrows and you can slit and chain harrow all in one pass.

I usually go out slitting in the autumn, as you said, helps let the water through, also the cold to help soil heave (if it gets cold enough 😣) I'd commented on farmer P's videos about it. I think it's worth doing but ours is only an old sports field version on a te20

Does the weight of the slurry pipe dragging over the ground close the slits up

Probably should wait untill the ground is a bit drier then it creates more of a shattering effect to relive the compaction

Perhaps do a trial in future ,and leave say half an acre without slitting ,then treat it all with slurry etc as normal and compare the results?
