As much as I loved their old music style, this is good. There are some people that are upset about it and want the "old BMTH" back, but they're not really happy making that type of music anymore. In the kerrang mag that came out today, it was obviously a bmth exclusive. And in the interview they all said that they wanted to go with a different style but still have that rock in there. They also said thats the spirit was all pre planned and they knew exactly what they were doing. And they said with the new album theyre just winging it. They again said that, like thats the spirit, theyre trying new styles out and see how it works out. I dont understand why people are making such a big fuss about it. You dont see many singers creating the same style and the same sound of music for every album they release. Thats what bring me are doing. Thats the spirt was different and the new album is gonna be different. Oli cant really go back to the count your blessing era because he damaged his vocal chords because he never learned how to scream the right way. So they are sort of going around that. And creating rock music just not as heavy as it was. Its most likely gonna be a mix between sempiternal and TTS. But they also said that they're creating this new sound to widen the variety of what can be considered rock. So this doesnt really class as pop. Its still rock just different to what we know. Before the band released That's the spirit Oli got out of rehab for a self admitted drug problem and decided he doesn't like the metalcore style they did for Suicide season, There is a hell, and Sempiternal so they changed their style. Personally I'm upset that they aren't doing the heavier stuff anymore, but I like what they're doing now.
I love the fact that your music changes as you change. I didn't expect another Sempiternal or something. Do what you feel you want to do, that's the best way to make good music.
Bring Me The Horizon are one of a very few bands who can change their sound and keep everyone's respect. Love this song, love that there are bands still keeping distorted guitars and keeping rock alive.
You guys gotta realize that there is a limit to how much screaming lyrics someone's voice can take. Yes, they're music has changed. I hear it with whitechapel all the time and phils voice is fine it's just a softer album, and oli has said multiple times he just doesn't want to scream anymore

Couldn't agree more. You can't say you are a BMTH fan and then say you hate anything after their first two albums. That makes you a fan of those albums, not the band. I like EVERY album, it describes their progression as a band, perfectly.

They just know how to break the genres. Its bmth. Not deathcore. Not electropop. Its not nu metal. Its not pop rock. Its all fused together into a shining diamond.

something I learned from listening to bands that don't really adjust to one specific genre is that music is what it is, you can try to label it but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. I'm glad bmth continues to navigate through sounds and find its own style, I'm glad they're still together. people who claim to know a lot about deathcore, post-hardcore, pop, rap, jazz, whatever -and don't knowledge any other music style just because it's not of their liking it's actually pretty ignorant. it's okay if you don't like it, but that doesn't mean no one else does nor does it mean it's bad. as I said, it is what it is, music, art, nothing else.
People who complain about it are the reason rock won't evolve and be popular again. This was on BBC Radio 1, the biggest popular music station in the UK, why complain that it's mainstreamy?

I don't adore music genres.. I adore the band. So, whatever they have changed, they'll always sound great for me. 'Cause BMTH is BMTH, no matter in deathcore, nu metal, or even pop. They'll make the genre that you dislike sounds great :)

I disagree that by continuing to make metal albums they would have dissatisfied their audience. Every album BMTH released was different from their last album and they still remained within the metal genre. TTS and this new album are not written for metal fans, they're written for radio. they're written just to appeal to the masses. this is actually really heckin good I’m so excited for the album. you guys do realize that bands can’t make the same exact type of music forever or eventually they’ll lose fans. personally I love the diversity of their music, every single song of theirs is amazing imo.

I like that bands like bring me the horizon experiment with different sounds and to be honest this is great. We are all getting older and most of us get fed up with the same old sound from our youths and it's this kind of step that makes the bands still relevant by today's standards. Metal is changing for the better and my other favourite band currently is crossfaith as they have done something different and I love it. Very few bands, however, make changes and eventually people get tired of them. I can't wait for BMTH new album. 👌

Never heard this song before the Mantras of survival trailer for Outriders although I like BMTH's music, as soon as I heard it was them in the trailer I had to come find it. LOVE IT.
For everyone hating this understand times change and people change. I respect the path that Oli Sykes and the rest of BMTH are taking, and as a producer myself I know what it's like to change up the style or feel. I personally think this is a good change and who know maybe the rest of the Album is more heavy.

Two heavens 95 people don’t hate on stylistic changes because they are stylistic changes they hate on them because they are appealing to the lowest common denominator. I don’t care personally, there are plenty of other bands out there by BMTH drooped one of the most epic poppy metal albums in Sempiternal and now they’ve gone down this route and... yah it’s pretty lame. I mean that falsetto ‘it’s easy to believe’ haha. They’ve done a Linkin Park. Bands should do what they want but equally remember where they have come from.
BMTH has change for the better. They did deathcore, a poor deathcore, and then they did great metalcore albums. Maybe last album wasn't metalcore anymore, neither this one, but That's The Spirit was good and I'm sure this is gonna be a great album too because Oliver's voice is really unique and his lyrics are something that fits in the life of many peoople like they do in mine.

Im so happy for this bands continued sucess. When I heard Throne on the radio from the last record I smiled knowing how heavy this band can get and how fans of that song will be exposed to the harder side of rock
I'm actually really digging this. This music is great, and the lyrics are on point. (Plus, the automated voice saying "mantra" works surprisingly well.)

something I learned from listening to bands that don't really adjust to one specific genre is that music is what it is, you can try to label it but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. I'm glad bmth continues to navigate through sounds and find its own style, I'm glad they're still together. people who claim to know a lot about deathcore, post-hardcore, pop, rap, jazz, whatever -and don't knowledge any other music style just because it's not of their liking it's actually pretty ignorant. it's okay if you don't like it, but that doesn't mean no one else does nor does it mean it's bad. as I said, it is what it is, music, art, nothing else.
Preach!! Art is always evolving, and bmth is just continuing to do what they've always done: make music.

I disagree that by continuing to make metal albums they would have dissatisfied their audience. Every album BMTH released was different from their last album and they still remained within the metal genre. TTS and this new album are not written for metal fans, they're written for radio. they're written just to appeal to the masses. I feel their new albums TTS and this one (i cant remember the name) lack emotion.

I like that bands like bring me the horizon experiment with different sounds and to be honest this is great.
We are all getting older and most of us get fed up with the same old sound from our youths and it's this kind of step that makes the bands still relevant by today's standards.
Metal is changing for the better and my other favourite band currently is crossfaith as they have done something different and I love it.
Very few bands, however, make changes and eventually people get tired of them. I can't wait for BMTH new album. 👌

Yes, we all miss the old dark vibe (im not gonna lie) but im happy that they still make cool music like this.

Never heard this song before the Mantras of survival trailer for Outriders although I like BMTH's music, as soon as I heard it was them in the trailer I had to come find it. LOVE IT.
For everyone hating this understand times change and people change. I respect the path that Oli Sykes and the rest of BMTH are taking, and as a producer myself I know what it's like to change up the style or feel. I personally think this is a good change and who know maybe the rest of the Album is more heavy.

BMTH has change for the better. They did deathcore, a poor deathcore, and then they did great metalcore albums. Maybe last album wasn't metalcore anymore, neither this one, but That's The Spirit was good and I'm sure this is gonna be a great album too because Oliver's voice is really unique and his lyrics are something that fits in the life of many peoople like they do in mine.
