  • This video and self demonstrative experiment, will disprove one of the most pervasive myths it trumpet teaching, namely that you need to "buzz" your lips to make a sound.
    Kids, don't listen to that nonsense, discover the truth for yourselves right here in the next 4 minutes and please spread the word to your friends !
    Cheers

    Thank you that was so helpful!!! For the life I can’t do the buzz. It just sounds like farting noises. You’re a life saver!

    Omg thank you so much for the vid I've been trying to buzz my lips and when I'd try to do it into the mouth piece to actually play it would sound horrible but now that I know this I sound 100 times better 😂🎺

    Yes! I'm finding a very helpful tip is to 'feel' the space between the lips. The whole embouchure relaxes into this wonderful arena of resonance.....

    I wouldnt have given up on the trumpet as a kid if I knew I didnt have to do that bs buzzing. The center of my lips would always get tingly from all the buzzing and I hated it. Glad I know now I can get back into it without the one annoyance I had. Thanks

    Sir, I have thin lips, it's impossible for me to lip buzz, but I can make the mouthpiece to sound with a nice tone. I don't have a trumpet, just the mouthpiece. Should I keep practicing like that until I can buy the trumpet?

    Great video.
    I was tought buzzing on a low note and had a syrughle since.
    Wayne Bergeron shows the same as you.
    I tried your way but I was not able to figure out how to ascend.
    Also the aperture...how narrow should it be?
    Eddie Severn is into the same as you...
    But how to ascend?
    Take care

      Hi Erik from Denmark ! So the basic idea is not to make the lips smaller while keeping the air steady but the opposite. Keep the lips steady not bigger not smaller, the same and let the air PRESSURE do the work. You might like to check out the " L Exersize" video for trumpet - this will help you find how much air to use when going up or getting louder...Good luck on your journey. Cheers Pete

      @@TresMamboMusicSchool . Great answer (and sorry for my poor english...), but how to compress...I still got the same hole, so more air gives more volume...
      I check the L excercise out!

    • @TresMamboMusicSchool
      @TresMamboMusicSchool  Před rokem +1

      @@dktrumpet65 That is not correct. If the hole IS the same and you blow harder the note must go up because pressure is defined as force/area. ONLY if the hole is getting bigger AND you are blowing more can the note get louder because the pressure is staying the same but the FLOW is increasing. So you might THINK you are keeping it the same but you cant be. So that is what the L exercise is all about.... a simple way to develop your air to make the pitch go up or get louder or any combination of the two all controlled by the ear hearing a just noticeable increase in volume...Good luck and let us all know how you get on. Cheers Pete

    • @TresMamboMusicSchool
      @TresMamboMusicSchool  Před 3 lety

      You still have to practice - imagining and creating a beautiful in tune sound. Buzzing is not only a waste of time but leads to tensions that are very hard to get rid off once they set in. So just forget that. Just put your lips as close together and as relaxed as possible and blow. Physics and your imagination/will power will take care of the rest. GOOD LUCK ! Cheers Pete

      Hi there. Well maybe send me a vid of you trying and I can see why not. In short though if you are blowing air and dont get a sound its can only be because the lips are too stiff or too far apart or both...
      So close together as you can and perfectly relaxed is the way to go. You should be making a bright hissy noise, not a dark woofy one....Cheers Pete

    I found this out when I did a lead pipe buzz and took the lead pipe way from my lips and heard no sound on the mouthpiece BUT when I started buzzing or blowing the m.p. I got a sound out of the lead pipe.
