    Thanks for the dive into these. The sculpting & casting does look better than some other epics, and yours look great painted up. As much as I love the character of 28mm figures this is a better scale for the big armies of this period. I’ve been collecting them in 15mm so I’ll be hoping to get a sprue bundled with a WI issue to compare scales.

All the bodies were done with Dreadful Visage first then I picked out different ones with various reds and sepias. The Principes and the Triariai were a lot easier as it was chainmail so that's just any silver with AP strong tone. The shields were yellow contrast with the dirty red wash from AK. Hope that helps

    Really like your 28mm videos, even if I’m not into all the periods, having a significant investment in 15mm already though means it’s not a route I can go down, particularly given all the terrain needs that go with it, terrain again that I already have in 15mm.
    I really like this Epic release, I have the Napoleonics that I plan to use with the Blucher rule set (will keep the AB 18s for brigade games) and again, did I not already have these armies in 15mm I’d have been interested in these. Only thing I’m not keen on with the Epic stuff, and haven’t been all along, is the 60mm base widths, 40 would have been much better IMO.

    Mega dittos to all the positive comments about the great painting. These figures look quite useful. What size/scale are they. What is the width of the ''oreo." These might well serve for DBA based on 60mm frontage for giant games. By the way, from your prior research do you think that Carthage elephants were like Indian ones with the big houdah. I have seen these as now extinct forest elephants that were small and were ridden "bare back." Looking forward to the next installments, thanks.

      Thanks very much, really appreciate it. The "Oreo" is about 5cm wide and about 1.2 deep. I'm not to sure on the elephants but will certainly look into it 👍

    Nice job on the painting epic is great for people starting out and with limited space more power to anyone who is into them but for me they all look the same acw , ecw , naps , punic all infantry look very much of the same thing to me still each to there own

    Great to see your covering this, so questions, questions - Are you going to look at running a campaign of any sort, and could the range be used for the first punic or third punic war as well?

    Looks awesome! I’m so tempted to get into this but I still haven’t finished my epic pike and shotte. Looking forward to more of this content from you, thanks for the vid. Just curious, but how long does it take you to finish a whole sprue?

      Cheers, as I haven't done anything on the other Epic lines I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I painted the sprue over a couple of days, but I can do a stand of the Romans in about an 45-60 mins (so the three stips) 👍

    Hi Martin. Looking forward to viewing battle report. Whilst the emphasis is obviously on the ‘epic’ nature of battles to be had, it would be great to know just how few sprues could be painted up to have a meaningful game. Is it possible to have a skirmish type game with just one or two sprues per side and then add to this for larger conflicts as time goes on? What makes a sensible minimal force? Regards,

      @7thson726  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi there, thanks for taking the time to comment. This is certainly something I can make a comment on. I have had some great games with only 1 division at 28mm but I'll have a look at the sprues and work it out for a future video. If you break it down it may be that the division boxes can be broken down to make small battle forces 👍 I'll have a look and report back 😁

      I agree that they are a good gateway but currently I'm not really tempted. I already have massive ECW and Napoleonic collections in 28mm. If I did one it would probably be the ACW though 👍

    • @7thson726
      @7thson726  Před 2 měsíci

      To be honest, it doesn't bother me, I don't find it any less ridiculous than pike blocks being represented by 36 men, or Napoleonic battalions by 24 models so spaced out they may as well be skirmishers. Ultimately, we all accept compromises when we game, as at the end of the day, it's just a representation 👍
