Powder Blues have some INCREDIBLE Songs! TOM LAVIN is an Amazing Songwriter, Producer and Guitarist too! If they're Touring, they're A MUST SEE, as their Energetic Performances are LEGENDARY!
Everything's good about this. One very important thing is the tempo. With out this exact, perfect, relaxed, solid tempo the rest wouldn't come across as good either.
I was a junior but the grad class of 80' in Shawnigan lake private school hired the Powder Blues to play at their grad party knowing the guys in that class it must have been one hell of a good time.
2 bands that night-Honey Bee opened for us. I got to meet John Fisher and Sharon Wadsworth that night. Another thing I recall was an Asian student who was yakking about Duke Errington (I am sure he was joking).
I was 19 Sparwood bc drilling First chopper ride 4got my lunchbox got chastized.. n left behind..chopper flew crashed everyone died.. next day first real ride front seat pilot came up the mountain side crested the peak.. right into the sunrise and as we crested he flipped this great tune on.. every day.. Hah, many fab nights at the Commodore, with HTGR the last song...I would always stick my head in this wall of bass bins they used to have there...Unreal...unfortunately on You Tube you can't get enough volume on this one...get the CD put it in your home or car stereo and crank it...Clean Loud and proud.....an amazing tune by the Powder Blues...If I had a band I would cover it..
@@dingdongdaddyfromchi I have often wondered if the lyrics were directly personal, and now, hearing from the man himself, we know they were. Anyways, I must thank you, as it is a bonafide blues classic. My friends and i, man we loved your band...all the great horn players, Duris Maxwell and his micro 'kit', your right hand man Willie MacCaulder, brother on bass. You guys could (can!) really swing!
@@dingdongdaddyfromchi I did not realise, Jack...but i will guess you Lavin bros are just like all us other bros, kinda always competitive...anyways we love what you guys did, seriously, so great....and the Checkered Demons, wraparound shades! May hide my views!

Epic bass line.
Yes.
Bass line inspired by BB King's Crying Won't Help You which was also in the PB repertoire.
sadly legendary drummer Duris Maxwell passed away recently
Remember this song's release! 😎
Whole album is epic. Shame it's not on Spotify.
Totally agree. If I had been the one to record this bass line my life could be considered complete. It's perfect!

An autobiographical song I wrote from Stave Lake Correctional work camp on a brown paper bag.
