Oh love your velvet chaise! Lots of good tips. Not sure I am skilled enough to make a slipcover.
If you know how to sew you can make a slipcover. It just takes patience the first time.
I thought I wold let you know that Jays fabric in Pasadena (St. Pete) is closing the end of March they have upholstery fabric and drapery fabric for 5 and 1 dollar a yard. I bought just under 50 yards of drapery lining for a 1 dollar a yard.

Well that was informative. Hancock fabric also had a good supply of home dec fabric, although I’m not even sure if they are still open anywhere…the one in my area closed. But you’re right about the thrift store.
I LOVED Hancock fabric!!! They closed in my area a few years ago. My neighbor worked there for years!

I'm not sure what Panne Velvet is... but the Velvet that doesn't have a one way nap... where it stretches both ways... like the REAL Vintage Velvet they used on Antique couches.

Today I was helping out a good friend, with re-making romantic IKEA lace curtains. And we were both saddened by the fact that IKEA (here in The Netherlands🇳🇱) has only recently completely stopped selling 'soft furnishing' (by the yard) fabrics. Maybe because their designs became so modern & weird that many stopped buying their fabrics. Now there's nothing left but 'ready made' expensive curtains and bedlinnens. For many years IKEA was the best (price wise) place to shop fabrics.
Plus IKEA-Holland🇳🇱 would never reduce their prices on beautiful bedlinnen, that low😔. What you bought is indeed a bargain👌🏻.
Sadly the same goes for our 🇳🇱Thrift/Goodwill stores: they don't sell such beautiful curtains, linnes, or tablecloths at those prices. I get so jealous looking at your stack of thrifted fabrics - the Paisley and that Designer print is indeed beautiful 😍.
That IS such a bummer. My last trip to ikea, when I picked up the duvet covers, they still had fabric here, but nothing good. The fabric department was decent when they first opened here, and prices were excellent. I guess we need to bring back sewing for your the home! Then maybe fabric by the yard will be sold again.
Totally agree, dear@@MimzyandCompany, I also hope that it will become "trendy" again to make your own soft furnishings for the home. But not "too trendy"😉 because that will hike up prices as well😅. I guess people who shop at IKEA want the easy ready-made/finished items. And so IKEA can ask more for all their soft furnishings. As people are clearly still willing to pay for their rising prices. (Which like everything else, that has gotten so expensive, in Europe, is sadly blamed on "the 🇺🇦 War")🙏🏻😔.
This was very helpful; thank you! I'm definitely a thrift store repurposing kind of maker. Currently, I'm reupholstering two wing back chairs and a sofa in the Revolution fabrics. What is the folex you referenced for cleaning performance fabrics?
It's an upholstery cleaner sold at Walmart and Home Depot. It comes in a white bottle or jug with purple writing. Very generic looking bottle, but it works like a charm. Works great on carpet stains as well and it doesn't need to be rinsed.
