- I beat Tears of the Kingdom using only zonai devices to deal damage to enemies. I had a lot of fun experimenting and creating various machines for the run, so I hope you all enjoy the video :)

I hope you guys all enjoyed this challenge :) Also small correction from 31:25, the gloom didn't prevent the one shot mechanic specifically here, I just actually didn't have enough health anymore to tank the tornado hit since the last time it put me to half a heart (one shot prevention will always put you to a quarter)

Actual answer on the midday blood moon is that the blood moons reset the world including all the physics objects and serves to clear the memory. When the memory gets too full the game automatically triggers an emergency blood moon to keep the game from crashing.
Yeah forgot that bloodmoons are BotW/ToTK's way of turning it off and on again lol
I wonder what was occurring in the background that made the game panic so hard then. I’ve never gotten a panic blood moon while just flying
@@acousticeel9695Can happen if you play too long without closing the game I’ve heard. I think its kinda like how Pokémon SV slows down the longer the game is kept ‘open’ (even when switch is off).
@@pomfpomfI never experienced a panix bloodmoon and I never closed the game until I closed it to update two days ago lol, I had the game technically open literally since the day it came out
@@Ezekiel_Allium Me too, I’m just repeating what I’ve heard. I remember getting blood moons more often than every 7 in-game days in BOTW, but never in the middle of the day (unintentionally- I’ve triggered them before on purpose)
The fact that the intended way to kill colgera doesn't use weapons
I'm surprised he didn't instantly go for the Hylian Shield which he could have gotten with just a flame emitter
Imagine Rauru in a Hyrule Warriors game, but he just uses Auto-Build to spawn Roombas
Behold!
The prowess of the founding King of the Kingdom of Hyrule!
Irresponsible (over)use of Zonaite!
Terrifying an army of elemental roombas and laser roombas....
Actually now that I think about it more, he'd probably use L abilities and his minion army is roombas. May use auto-build to create vehicles to run enemies over
It’s scary how this could realistically happen
I mean the Shiekah practically did that with mass producing Guardians and look what happened? The Calamity.
For anyone who doesn't know, the reason a blood moon happened at 3:20 (both ingame and the video) is probably that the game ran out of memory to do things, so it used the blood moon cutscene as a cover to fix things
You can force a blood moon at any time by lagging out the game btw, for example, multishot bow, attach opal to the arrows, and spam shoot at a breakable wall in bullet time. When you hit the ground (if you shot enough arrows) a blood moon will play
In the botw moddong community this is known as a panic moon
I can force blood moons with arrows and opals silly...wow good to know thanks
@jordanlicht1601 The visual effects of the opals is too much
omg that could actually be really useful. you could use that to force respawn the lynels in the floating colloseum or smth, right?
@@graydev9645 Its functionally the same as any blood moon, so as long as you don't overdo it and actually crash the game, yes, you can
Can we appreciate the awesome, depths defying, rising from the ashes, master Kohga showing off how his in fact the most awesome and powerful boss in Hyrule here. He's got it all the annoying shields, physics prowess, immunity to fire, and even forcing you use ultra hand in combat :D.
Kohga is the real final boss
Your patience is truly insane, you can see the TINIEST sliver of white on a health bar and go "ooh good damage, this will work". Incredibly impressive and very entertaining video, I've loved your Zelda vids so far
Can’t believe rauru and his gang couldn’t beat ganon when all they needed was 9 beam emitters
i thought zelda was the princess but there was a princess in the bottom left of my screen for 48 minutes 🥰
HAHAHAHAHAHA SO FUNNY LMAO
chat? aw thank you :)
Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me, princess!
Absolutely insane run, I'm shocked that you had the patience to beat Colgera after so many hours of attempts!
It's also funny cause if I were to do a run like this I probably would have been lazy and just defeated Colgera the intended way with justification that slamming through his body while wearing Zonai armor counts as dealing damage with Zonai tech 🤷♂
😢😢😢
The Zonai had some pretty scary weaponry.
Now I'm just waiting for that Summons only run~
Mineru will make the run a joke midway in
@@syrtek rule; you can't ride Mecha-Mineru lol
@@pockystyx4087she's still pretty good if you keep her topped up on weapons, and since you wont be fusing you'll be able to give her some pretty strong stuff
@@Ezekiel_Allium depends on how hard it will be to GET to her with such. . . effective AI teammates.
I'm interested to see it at least lol
That flamethrower on top of the huge pole to reach the flying monster around @7:00 was the most cartoonish thing I've ever seen lmaooo
A true wily coyote moment
i like to imagine this is how mineru fought considering she is rauru's tech savvy sister
I love how he cut the fact that you have to use the master sword at the very end right before it happened
Shhhhh don't tell anyone
Well, the boss's health bar was already empty, so it didn't do DAMAGE.
Alternative title: How engineers won against demons king and Totk
For future videos, here's a tip: You can fuse float stones to arrows, and when shot, the float stone will activate automatically after flying a certain distance, and it will be perfectly horizontal. You can shoot it straight upwards to get an ascend point
Yeah I learned that after watching some stuff after this run, some pretty cool stuff out there lol
I absolutely love the way Chris is so cool and chill and suddenly he'll scream, it makes the videos so much fun to watch and entertaining, hahah! Please, keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching and will do :)
I find it amusing that Colgera managed to be so difficult here considering how easy it is normally.
I’ve been looking for a run like this! Glad to see Zelda and stuff beyond elden ring (as much as I enjoy it) on your channel!
Glad you enjoy :)
This is the content the world truly needs
Agreed.
4:00 You can get identical carts from "device dispensers," so yes actually it is "technically" a zonai device. The metal slab is pushing it tho
I’ve been waiting for a game like totk where you can just build stuff to do anything and this exact challenge was the thing I’ve always had in mind! Great job
3:15 panic blood moon, occurs when the game thinks something is horribly wrong so it resets the world
Peak gameplay 🔥 Hope to see more like this dude 😎😎
I think it would have been more beneficial to sequence break the story and do the spirit temple quest. In one of the depots in the construct factory, there is a U-shaped block that you need to carry over a rail. That block actually has the unique property of being indestructible, even when created with autobuild and when you detach it as the autobuild clone. Chests also have the same property, but their awkward shape makes it harder to build with. You can also just cheese the final boss because ganondorf will always check if link is on the ground after doing a spin attack, and he won’t attack again unless you touch the ground. If you just stand on some of the blocks ganon can’t do anything and you can just slowly beam him to death
Yeah but that's not as interesting to me lol, makes it too easy. Same reason why I didn't use Mineru either
such a good streamer and youtuber, i loved your ingenuity and I'd love to see what future monstrosities you make to fight the world's most dangerous evil ! also, i saw that right after your video on it, smallant also did a weaponless run(but he used bombs and such which was pretty cheap), i hope it didn't take away from your views, you've more than earned them
Thanks for the kind words :) Smallant also doing the weapons only run isn't a big deal since his rules were different than mine, so it's a pretty different experience from a viewer standpoint on how the run was completed. Great minds think alike I guess lol
You had me hooked when you made the joke at 0:06
Awesome video!
*Link by a campfire while all his machines do the work* "Hey look buddy, I'm an engineer."
Actually in the middle of this run right now. I used a ton of dupe glitches tho and I hope it ends up as well as yours went. Also the master khoga struggle is real.
Such a cool idea of an run GG's on completing it, was really entertaining watching.
Glad you enjoyed :)
Neat Idea for a video!
Nice to see you play something different.
"These explosions are scary!" best totk content all week
6:14 i love how he coudve just use a zonaite bow or a captain/soldier construct horn to snipe the aerocuda but he didnt
This is such a cool run!
Maybe try a yiga only run, using only yiga weapons and gear, no zonai or abilites and beating the main story with forced mandatory items being ok if needed?
Rauru: "Our last line of defense will be Link, and that legendary sword he carries"
Or like, you could just use all the tech you have apparently
Your indignant shrieking gets me every time
Man did all that to kill one aerocuda. Subbed.
Also the real reason for that blood moon. The game has a failsafe called a panic blood moon. It happens if the game is about to crash. It resets all of the data like enemy spawns etc.
first zonai only run i've seen and it was insanely good!!!
Glad you enjoyed :)
You can put another aiming head at an angle ontop of the first head to make the laser pulse which turns it on and off resetting the damage ticks. Saves energy and increases dps. Like a lot.
I'm rather glad you switched to ToTK content. We've not even gotten to modding the game yet and there's already a treasure trove of content.
Really appreciate how you were able to summarize so many hours of stream into this video.
I think there is a ton of modding potential with this game for sure, but at the same time I will probably avoid molded content for a while since Nintendo has been copyright striking channels with modded BotW content. Maybe in the future, but probably not unfortunately
Pro Tip for dark areas:
attach opal or ruby(maybe other gems i dont know) to a weapon Not a shield for a light source
its quite dim though
Brilliant intro. liked and subscribed
who ever did the editing did a good job on this video
rauru and all the sages: uses all their combined power and only manages to keep the demon king imprisoned under the castle
star0chris: funny laser go brrrr (actually kills him this time)
1:47 I laughed waaaaay too hard at this pun!
Love the vids keep up the good work
Great video, as always! How did you feel about the ending of TOTK on your first playthrough, both the fight and the story?
Big fan of both, loved the spectacle of the entire end fights (both ganondorf and demon dragon). Story was great, but it would have been pretty cool if they kept Zelda as a dragon instead of reversing her sacrifice
@@star0chris I agree on both accounts. A monumental sacrifice like the one Zelda made, especially with the entirety of the game building up to it, just feels a little less impactful if it always could have been reversed. I still loved it, but not quite as much as the bittersweet irreversibility it was made out to be.
Dayum, You've really been helped a lot by Cartney the Transsistor/Transsister Of Cortney
I'm not sure if it counts in your case, but there is a much easier way to best colgera in this challenge, try Gliding up with the windstorm and fuse hoverstones to your arrows for midair platforms. Get to the very edge of a platform and spawn any zonai device like a homing cart, colgera should eventually fly under your platform and start its ice spike attack. Once that happens, simply use ultrahand on the newly spawned in zonai device and try and aim it at colgera's weak spot. I've done it, use the gravity to your advantage and spawn in zonai items to hit colgera. It would still technically count for the challenge despite never really activating a device.
Yeah but that's not as hype as flying laser machine lol, also seems a bit more in the Grey area/harder to setup than what I did, but I love the creativity cause that's what this whole run was about :)
43:40 the great calamity 10000 BC colorized
that was the most random panic bloodmoon I've ever seen...
Madman spent 6 hours on Colgera.
Subbed.
Nobody:
Me: *listening*
Him: ‘ITS TOO HIGH! NO!’
My brain and I: 💀😜wdym..
I was wondering why you didn't get the Zonai armor in the very beginning considering the use of only Zonai devices for this challenge
Yeah I just wanted to try it without it at first since it just takes a bit to acquire it all, but it was definitely worth it when I did grab it

"It's 3:20pm why did a blood moon cutscene happen?" at 3:20
Great vid, big fan!
no u
After seeing some shorts I now know rockets and walls do great against Ganondorf
I think my strat for a challenge like this would be to get some bubbul gems so I could get the bokoblin mask from kilton and then just easily take a bunch of zonite from the depths monster camps as to get more battery and thus making more efficent machines.
3:08 That was called a panic blood moon.
Its a blood moon that just randomly happens.
These poor constructs have created a war criminal in Hyrule
The construct gave him the whole battery pack so he’s using the whole battery pack
Zelda: Link, I've sacrificed my life and kept the master sword for 10000+ years for you...
Link:
For Gerudo town, I just built A flamethrower on a construct hear and let that deal with the Gibdo
4:24 that little yell he did when he got shot was so funny 😂😂
I was doing no melee weapons (the ones you use by pressing Y button) & no bows (the ones you use by pressing ZR button) and fighting master kohga #2 was the my favorite combat in my TOTK experience.
I builded a fighting jet with 3 fans, 1 steering stick, 1 golem head, and 1 beam emitter; then master kohga and me were playing airplane dogfight lol
That sounds awesome lmao
A cheap early contruction I can really recommend is a roomba with one electro emitter and a hydrant plashing onto it.
It's dangerous to yourself and doesn't have the highest dps, but it completely stunlucks any enemy around them, make them drop the weapon andis very cheap to make for how easy it is to make.
I used that thing for the whole horde fight of ganon and it just cleaned up every wave without me every attacking.
Yeah I discovered that in this run on the boss rush lol
@@star0chris Try to put the emitter ontop of the robot, aim the water directly onto it so it has no travel time. The splash will make a shock area around the whole roomba, even far enough behind it, that you can't even deactivate it with a spear without getting shocked yourself. Since the roomba always tries to chase one enemy, it is very easy for him to miss a lot emenies standing behind it. With a big shockfield, it's very easy to pick it up with ultrahand and place it in the middle of enemies.
One addition it can use is a spiked front for extra dps against healthier enemies or to deal better with armor, since armored enemies are shock immune. It usually struggles with armored bokoblins, unless he directly tries to ram it. But funny enough, I tried it against an armored lynal and it instantly broke his whole armor when he ran into it, even without spiked front.
And btw, fun challenge. I tried my hands on beating some bosses with simple machines only, but beating the game like that is a whole different story.
Grand theft auto Hyrule edition! I have to re visit this shrine!
would rocket powered arrows or weapons count as weapon damage or is the damage always the same from rocket powered stuff, making it a zonai device damage type?
I think it gets the damage from the bow regardless, but even if it didn't it's not really the same type of vibe I was going for for the run. If something was kinda on the line of zonai device only or not, I would just not use it
I love how often the fear of being shot by your own cannons struck during this run, truly the most relatable experience here
Colgera fight was so cool.
Should of just stood on the wheel vs the demon kings army lmao
Did you know that you don’t actually need anything other than the paraglider to beat Colgera? The intended strat is to glide above Colgera and wait for it to do an attack where it shoots off these spikes on it back, and then dive through that ice part. But people just accidentally do a speedstrat.
Yeah I know, but that's not using a zonai device lol, that's using Link's body :)
@@star0chrisyou were wearing the zonai armor though
@@daltostar7566 yes as wearing armor doesn't deal damage lol
Yeees this is the video I’ve been waiting for
I want to cry while watching this
When you only want to use the main function of a game to play:
Mucktorock i believe takes reduced but damage in the shark but isn't immune
Yeah I realized that after the run that I technically hurt it without a zonai device because of that, but it wasn't damage that mattered in the slightest, so it doesn't matter lol
@@star0chris yeah
Not gonna lie, this would have been easier if you like grabbed one of the blocks from the (spoilers for anyone who hasn't watched someone complete all sages in the game yet) right leg depot. For whatever reason, I think bosses get confused lol
also great job cutting the video out before link uses the master sword lol
Yeah it would have been easier, but also more boring lol
Fusing your weapons with zonai tools allow you to melee weapons as zonai weapon
great video
Daylight savings blood moon 😂
Knowing now that we have the knowledge of small-angle pulse lasers, bee pulsers and pulse cannons (all of which significantly increase beam emitter and cannon dps), would you ever try this run again with this new tech?
Probably not. While jt would be fun to see those things in action, it would just kinda trivialize the run, which a good amount of fun was from it being so hard. That and it would just be the same challenge twice, maybe some sort of similar challenge though
That's understandable, perhaps you could limit the pulse tech for vehicle duals against Master Khoga?
Just played botw for the first time and now I know why kohga is in the depths
For colgera u can dive thru his weakpoints to damage him, the unintended intended way. Me personally i dont think it would break the rules of the challenge
It's definitely more on the line for this challenge, but I decided against it as it's not as interested/challenging to do it that way
I feel like it would have been a LOT easier if you had counted zonai weapons as zonai devices
Yeah but that's less fun/challenging lol
playing summoner class before whips in terraria be like:
4:02
What are you talking about? Everything on that contraption is a zonai device. Of course it counts.
Yeah that first car is, but technically the 2nd car has a metal plate as its core instead of a zonai cart. Either way it didn't really matter I just put that there for the sake of having it
great content! the kohga fight made me laugh so many times
Glad you enjoyed :)
Just trigger the damage-dealing devices and then use ultrahand on them and hold the device in the air as it kills enemies and you never waste shields!!
Yeah I did that later since it's more effective, early on I just wanted to be able to keep the flame emitter for later as well, and so having it bound to a shield would let me do that. Later on I would just use ultrahand, and then attach it to a shield or something after the encounter
this is probably the only way to make colgera actually hard lol
The engineer challenge.
Otherwise known as the artificer run
Now this is how you play tears of the kingdom the way nintendo nintended
So you’re telling me that king Rauru could have just use the zonai devices to kill Ganandorf instead of getting annihilated
?
YOOOOO HE’S INSANE
YOOOOO JOOOOO
You have a sharp sense of pitch
lol thanks, and yeah I played a lot of trumpet since I was like 10 through highschool, but haven't played too much since. I do want to get back into it, and I'm sure I'd post some sort of medley of songs played when I do (although that probably wouldn't be for a while lol)
this is so fucking impressive holy shit
You can Ultrahand zonai devices while they're active and use them pretty much indefinitely without breaking. They can be hard to aim just be careful activating a cannon on a hill 😂
Yeah I did that later since it's more effective, early on I just wanted to be able to keep the flame emitter for later as well, and so having it bound to a shield would let me do that. Later on I would just use ultrahand, and then attach it to a shield or something after the encounter
