Thank you Meisech for making this very informative video. I read all the questions and answers with your comments at below. I appreciate making the Daniu manual available on Google Drive. On some of those repeated questions, I must say, you have the patience of a saint! On the subject matter, I was looking for a no WiFi needed camera. Using "Motion Detection" mode, this is exactly what I need to find out what kind of a Rodent (Mouse, Rat, Squirrel, etc..) visits my dark attic, once in a great while! I had several "Adhesive Sheets" nailed to a piece of plywood with some cashews in the middle. Some angry gnawing mammal left behind a lot of gray fur on those glue sheets! I bought a medium size animal trap already. After watching your review, I ordered a mini XD camera and one Samsung 32 GB microSDHC card to record and hopefully trap the culprit, before I can seal all its entrances to the attic. Thanks again for the video.
The Daniu is unfortunately not the best camera I have presented. There are other cameras that are more efficient and better suited to your needs, such as the Quelima SQ13 or the Quelima SQ23, for example. Another alternative would be a trail camera. A method to identify the animal would be to pour chalk on its path. That way you could identify the tracks it leaves during its passage.

I wondered if this camera might be useful for surveillance. I imagine some extra infrared lighting would be helpful. The absence of internal batteries makes the use of this rather clumsy.
The colour problem might be due to the absence of an IR filter. The IR filter would stop it from working in night mode. Just my guessing.
As mentioned in the video, the camera is not worth buying. It has too many disadvantages such as the problem with the IR-cut filter and the missing battery. If you are interested in real surveillance camera, then I suggest buying a more professional model. If on the other hand you are interested in a miniaturized surveillance camera, then I suggest viewing my videos on Quelima cameras. But all of them have a weak point, nighttime viewing. Two other cameras that are of interest are the Xiaomi Dafang and the Xiaomi Hualei.
They are available with batteries now too.
When used as a dashcam, do you have to press the on button everytime u want to record? Or once it has power connected it will power on byitself?
Yes, you have to turn on the camera manually as well as start the recording. Unfortunately it will not start automatically when powered.

Great review @Meisech. Can you suggest me some micro small cameras like Mini XD or smaller than this? I need it to record atleast 100+ minutes with the memory card inserted once and battery charged once or with mini power bank. Thanks in advance. Currently I am considering SQ11,13,23 too.
So, my favorite camera so far is the Quelima SQ23. The camera is a little bigger than the Daniu, but the quality of the recording as well as the features of the camera convinced me.

@@aimanhossain538 Sorry, for now I do not know any cameras smaller than the Daniu. You should know that the Daniu does not have an internal battery.That's the reason why it is so small. The only smaller cameras I know are integrated in spy-pens.

It's been a while since I tested a mini-camera, because it seems to me that more and more fake cameras are on the market. My favorite cameras are the Quelimas. Besides, I made several videos on these cameras. Unfortunately, most of these models are no longer built. My favorite was with the SQ11, still available at Gearbest and the SQ23. There are still cameras called 'SQxx', but no longer related to the Quelima name. The SQ29 is the latest I found on the internet and you can get it from AliExpress.

What camera would you recommend for me I have a pick up truck and people keep throwing stuff in the back I need a good camera at night and can record for 8hrs any suggestion? That blitz thing you have how long will it keep that camera running ?
The night vision of all these small cameras is usable but is in no way comparable with a real surveillance camera. You have two options: if your truck is lit at night, then you don't especially need a night vision camera. If there is no light at all, then you need a night vision camera equipped with 6 to 8 infra-red LEDs. Unfortunately the night vision of these small cameras does not exceed 2 to 3m, but if you can place it in a suitable place, it will be enough to identify the perpetrators. Regarding the recording time there are also 2 possibilities: either you connect the camera to a USB charger on your cigarette lighter if it provides energy even if the engine is cut off or you connect it to a power bank. Note however that most of these cameras are equipped with SD cards with a maximum capacity of 32GB, which is not enough for the recording of 8 hours in a row. On the other hand, all these cameras can record in a loop. This means when the card is full, recording continues by overwriting the oldest file.
Is it a specific SD card u have to used. I know 32 sd. A certain SD card that is referred to used for the cam.
I mostly use class 10 cards when I record in FullHD because of the high bit rate.

in full darkness when you turn off ro light then IR leds when glow then we can see? or it's invisible
The camera automatically switches to infrared mode if the ambient light is too weak. In the dark, you can see the IR LEDs that light up very dimly. If you want to know if your IR LEDs are working correctly, just record in the dark and point the camera at a mirror.
The one that weighs 19 grams has an internal battery where the other does not. I would rather have the one that has it's own power source.
I am going to return it because you have to plug it in somewhere to make it work, no power source of its own.
The version with a battery only lasts about an hour. It's worth investing in a smaller power pack that has some decent battery capabilities.

@@ashleynicole2768 Did you do a quick format or a normal format? In case you've done a quick format, try to find a recovery program for your PC or Mac. You will find some that are free on the Internet. Under no circumstances should other files be saved to the SD card now, as the sectors may be overwritten.
@@Meisech I just hit the format option. I didn't know what I was doing. My camera wasn't recording video only audio. I was trying to fix it lol. Now it won't record anything.

The camera which is shown in my video has no battery. Some CZcamsrs nevertheless claim to have found the same camera with battery. But so far I have found on the Internet just a variant with WiFi.

I like that camera, about the colors well good thinking of the manufacturar, usually dont wear white but black AND blue to fool cameras and cams wont record.....with this one they reconise the colors....Thank you very much

I think this video was made by one of it`s competitors, for the cost this is a great buy.
I just made some experiences with that camera and I guess it sucks a lot of battery power so it gets quite hot even in move detection mode....so when I use a small power bank how long it will last to fill a 32 Gigabyte memory card?, (I dont know how much mA/h my power bank has, its a pocket size round cylinder)
Ok, let's do a little calculation: for 5 minutes of recording, the space consumption on the micro-SD is around 577 Mb. So to fill a 32Gb SD card you can record for about 4.5 hours. Unfortunately, I do not have any data concerning the consumption of the camera in recording mode. My camera unfortunately does not have a battery. The only way to know how much the camera is consuming is to open the camera and see how many mA are marked on the battery label. Then you have to let the camera record until the battery is empty. Note the recording time. Let's do a hypotetic calculation: If the battery is a 200mA battery and it can record for 20 minutes, then we will divide the 4.5 hours (270minutes) by 20. This tells us that we need a power supply that is capable of delivering 13.5 * 200mA, so an external power supply of 2700mA.

Can you please explain how to connect to an Android phone or tablet? Im using the camera for home security. I prefer the wyze cams because it has an app i can see recorded events and watch them live but this xd mini was cheaper and connects to an Android. I purchased the sq11 and returned it because it doesn't.
The Daniu can not be connected to a phone or tablet because it has no WiFi. If you want a camera that can be connected to an Android device, I recommend buying the Quelima SQ13 or the Quelima SQ23.

All cameras like this will have a random color cast because there is no IR filter like normal cameras. This allows the night-vision IR function to be possible. This effect is not avoidable and is not a quality issue. If you want normal quality colors, put an IR filter in front of the lens.

There is no app for this camera because it does not have a WiFi module.
The purple dominant is due to "Infrared pollution". With a simple IR-cut filter (like ones uses inside gopros etc), I'm sure it will be ok. These little glasses are very cheap and can be found easily on Amazon, Ebay, etc...
The modern car's windscreens are treated against IR , UV and are sometime using a polarizing layout.. That's why the colors are not purple-ish in your car.

Once the card is inserted with the modified data, they will be transferred to the main memory. It doesn't matter if you turn off the device or remove the card, the time, date and other data will stay up to date. If, on the other hand, the internal battery is completely drained after a very long period of inactivity, it will then be necessary to recharge the battery and reconfigure the data.

@@colossodirodi4340 Simply search Google for 'Power bank' or search for 'Power Bank' at Amazon. If you want your camera to be active for 24 hours, I suggest a 10,000mA power bank. But be careful, the SD card cannot store 24 hours of video. It will overwrite the oldest file.

Some people claim that there are DANIU cameras with built-in batteries. Mine has no battery. So it must be permanently connected to a power source.

I do not know where will have read this, but I can assure you that none of the cameras contain mercury. It is simply made up of infra-red LEDs and an objective which is equipped with a special filter.

Like all these devices, the charging voltage is 5V. You can charge the camera with a normal phone charger, on an power bank or on the USB port of your computer.

That purple coloration is due to the lack of IR (cut) filter.

That camera has the filter purposedly left out. It has IR leds to illuminate in the dark and so to have those 'effective' (2 tiny leds probably good for 5-10 inches anyway) you have to let the sensor 'see' IR. (Some make it art to photograph IR sensitive, check IR photography.) Cheap 'night vision' stuff simply has no IR cut filter and so can pick up IR light. More advanced day/night cameras (in cctv world) has movable IR filter ('ON' daytime, 'OFF' by night), like tiny filter glass moved in front/off the light path, you can search (ebay, google pics) on C, CS, M12 mount day/night IR filter, it is a drop in replacement for said mount board camera lens mounts with a piece of IR cut glass moved by a solenoid.
For your case I recommend to glue an IR cut filter in front of your camera lens (by photos looks like your camera has a pinhole lens, try to put the filter over the pinhole and glue (epoxy) the perimeter), search for IR cut filter on ebay, should be around a buck a piece.
The design preferences were better night vision vs. proper color on a budget...

Thanks for these detailed explanations. I've looked around the Internet to understand exactly how an IR-Cut works. I also found other videos about the Daniu camera. Some are working correctly, others have the same problem as my camera. And this is not the only problem. As you can see in my video, the camera also dropped frames. So it could be possible that only some of the cameras are affected by this malfunction. I will not spend too much time in correcting this behavior as I bought this camera only for my review. It is simply a very bad camera, not usable ! Most spy pen cameras produces a better image than this camera. But again, thank you for your very useful explanations.
@@nkovacs42 Also, contact automotive window tinting shops in your area. I got a huge box of scraps from my local one for free. Could easily make 100+ filters for my Session and Hawkeye Firefly with them.
@@MBrulla the automotive tint has the opposite effect. It does not cut IR. It lets all the IR through and cuts visible light. Multiple layers will cut almost all visible light, but appear transparent to cameras like this. I have used this effect on mine to make an "IR-only" camera.
Therefore those scraps would be worthless to the goal of this post, but great for making a greyscale IR camera. If you used such a camera in fluorescent or LED lighting, the image would be dark, but outdoors and incandescent lighting are bright.
Could I use a 3.6v battery to power it?
That could work, too, but I've never tried it. Instead of using a 1S battery, it might be better to use a 2S battery with a 5V BEC.
It works also as a webcam when directly connecting to a computer. Does anyone know if its also possible to connect to Android phones and detecting it as an extra camera that way? If yes, how? Another option I'm interested in is hooking it up to an external display, should anyone have tried this please let me know.
As for plugging into an Android device, it works for some mini cameras. I don't know if this works for the Daniu. Have a look at my video 'Dexilio 1080p - Part 2:Operations' @13:50. The video explains how to view the recorded images and videos. Unfortunately I was unable to view live images.
can somebody tell me why when i try to stop recording it just flashes 3 times and it doesn't go on standby mode as it should
Maybe the camera is defective or there is a problem with the SD card. Try to reformat the max 32Gb SD card.

I did the test but I cannot see any other LED than the blue one when I press the mode button. Maybe you have the WiFi version. Unfortunately I don't know the meanings of the LEDs in this version.

No, there is no battery. Somebody once told me that there would also be a battery-powered Daniu, but I never found one.

It's a bit confusing with this camera. Some CZcamsrs claim this camera has WiFi, others claim that there is a battery powered model. In any case mine has no battery or WiFi. If the camera has WiFi, the AP should be displayed in your WiFi connections on your smartphone. If WiFi is displayed, connect. Now you need an app to be able to manage the camera.
Hola, tengo una y no sé por qué no consigo hacer que grabe, grabé dos videos y luego la puse a cargar y ya no consigo que grabe nada.

First, the DANIU cannot be charged because it does not have a battery. So you need a permanent external power source. To start the camera, just press the motion detection button. A blue LED lights up. To record, press the 'record' button. The blue LED flashes several times, then turns off. To stop recording, press 'record' button again. The blue LED is on again. To activate motion detection, when the camera is on (blue LED on), short press the motion detection button. The LED then flashes alternately blue and red, then goes out. The camera is now in 'motion detection' mode. To end the 'motion detection' mode, press the motion detection button again. The LED is again blue. To stop the camera, press the motion detection button for 2-3 seconds. As the camera has limits, I suggest using another camera, like the SQ23 for example.

There is no camera reset button. In fact, whenever you plug the camera into a power supply, the factory settings are applied. Most of the time, the SD card is at fault. Try with another micro SD card that does not exceed 32Gb and is formatted in FAT32. If the problem persists, then the camera has a fault.
What happens if you put more then 32 g of storage
The card is simply not recognized because a card larger than 32GB needs to be formatted with exFAT. A card up to 32GB is formatted with FAT32. Camera electronics do not support exFAT.

How to night mode?
Night mode is activated automatically when the camera detects low light conditions. If not, then there is a problem with the camera.

@@Marky6470 When you turn on the camera, a blue LED lights up, indicating that the camera is in standby mode. When you now press the record button, the blue LED flashes twice, then recording starts. During recording, no LED is lit. Press the record button again to stop recording

If I understand correctly, you want to connect the camera directly to your smartphone to be able to read the files that are on the card. No, this is not possible because the camera does not have a built-in battery. When you connect it to your smartphone, the camera is then only supplied with power and does not allow data transmission.
Not too bad I had bought a small body camera one time for my job as a security officer and I noticed a blue tint also not saying that this is the same issues but after a couple of months of using it I was really disappointed, but one day while on duty I bumped in to a security officer that worked at a city garage and noticed he had the same camera so I asked him about the blue tint he he stated that there’s a plastic protection on the glass that it’s not noticeable that he took off and the blue tint went away lol....
You're the man. In fact, there is a purple filter on the lens, but it will be very difficult to remove this filter as you need to remove the shell to access the lens The shell is glued. How long the battery last
This has no battery. It must be connected to an external power supply. Please watch my latest video where the XD is equipped with a 150 mAh battery. It can record continuously up to +/- 1 hour. Either way I always suggest you plug it into an external power supply like a power bank so you can use it for a longer time.
Can we use this on our DIY drones
This camera is not intended for use with drones. I advise the Hawkeye Firefly mini 160 °. I have published a video about this camera.

This purple color happen because the camera is picking up infrared spectrum. The colors look normal inside the car because the glass doesn't allow IR and UV to pass through. The camera does capture IR because it have nightvision that is nothing but picking up IR emmited by its LEDs.
I was looking for something like this to attach it my dog's leash to see what she does when i am at work but i will not buy this one just because of that trash card reader. It also looks like trash. I think i will just go buy go pro
