It would be nice to see you fix more of the adjustments we basically got to see that your saw is cutting true. That’s nice but it would be helpful to see how to adjust the 45 on the bevel and the miter. Still a great video

5:41 So, I think your Dewalt Miter saw does 45 degree cuts both left and right. There is a pully(called "0' Bevel override knob") on the back where you set the bevel cut(bevel lock knob).

This was great; thanks. The reason I clicked on this video, though, was the hope of seeing something on fixing a brake that's not working. My Ridgid miter saw has an electric brake, but that's literally the only thing the Ridgid manual says about it. None of the three parts lists even lists an electric brake, so I can't even tell which parts are its components. I tore apart my saw today to try to figure it out; no dice. The brake worked well when I first bought the saw, but by the time I'd used it for a couple weeks, the brake no longer worked.

That's the identical saw my gave me for Christmas over 22 yrs. ago. I've made a lot of segmented wood bowls using this saw. You're right, it rocks.
Maybe, one Thursday you could do a tune-up on the Performax 16-32 drum sander. I've tried almost everything to get it to sand guitar backs and sides to proper thickness, but one side is always thicker. Thanks for the great video.

@andrew .... it is not a small job. Try getting exact 90 degree cuts, adjusting etc and trying to figure out if the problem is with your blade or your fence or your bevel or your dentent .... or it’s just that your samples your cut on your scrap wood is bad because your scrap wood is not straight. 🙈

I’ve had problems with dewalt chopsaws in the past where my 2 fences weren’t parallel, so when I had material that spanned across to reach both fences you could see a gap between the material and backing on the inside edge of each fence. It worked fine to cut angles when the material spanned all the way, but when I had small cut offs that I tried to get my angle cuts on the angle would be off by a few degrees.

I once bought a sliding miter saw from the big box store, The reviews said it was out of square and I figured I could adjust it.
Turns out, once you adjusted it for the chop, the adjustment was totally out of whack when you used the sliding part.
I returned it and spent 3x more on a much better saw.

Bought this for my friend for his birthday, and he loves it. Father-in-law was a little jealous, even. :)
Built solid, but light enough to move around for projects. Easy to use czcams.com/users/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe and makes great precision cuts. Doesn't come with a laser mount, but the fence is straight as an arrow and if you measure carefully, it's not a problem. Can handle dimensional lumber with ease, but of course, there's a limit to how thick. Handled a 4x4" post without a problem, but 4x6" we had to flip and cut twice. Only thing we've noticed is make sure to tighten the nut that holds the saw blade when you take it out of the box and maybe check up on it occasionally. For some, this is probably a no-brainer, but we neglected to do this and a few months in, found the motor running but the blade spinning at about half speed or less. Tightened the nut, and problem was solved. Very happy with this purchase. Dewalt makes sturdy stuff.

    @judithrob1591 Před 3 lety

This test is only if you want to saw with a precision miter saw. (not for rough work).
    Tips and Test:
Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)!
Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a vertical line above the saw blade.
Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt.
Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing .
And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft.
It is very important that everything is aligned.
Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade.
    Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact / Bosch PCM 8 SD / Hitachi C10FSH.
(This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails).
(If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing.
Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed).
Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand (finger) on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine.
Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing (test is completed).
Step-4. therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned vertical in line above the saw blade.
Step-5. When you measure the vertical 90 degrees angle square (Digital Level Box) of you're sawblade don't forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing.
Conclusion:how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing don't go for that (the choices are yours).
Also with a cheap slide miter saw it is still better the handgriff in line a above the saw blade than on the right side. Maybe they will make it someday then we have a winner...
