- The city Breda is called the pearl of the south of the Netherlands. Join me on this last leg towards Breda to see if I agree with this expression.

The 4 camera's I use to produce my outdoor footage, are so called PTZ - P(an) T(ilt) Z(oom). Zoom, I only use on the rear camera, when I am underway. As you have seen I use the pan and tilt a lot. And in the dark they produce a great (short view) infrared image. I even can navigate in a marina at night on my cams.
Since they all are so called "IP camera's", each have an unique (hardwired) IP address (no DNS) in my network.

This channel follows a format: "Join Henk-Jan, whilst he cruises on motorvessel Lady Liselot through The Netherlands and a little further". That's it. This automatically means: no boat tour and no boat jobs. These subjects do not fit the format. So, I aim to give you a feel for what life's like aboard for me and hope you enjoy it, perhaps relate to it or maybe even learn something. But it's simply my story and the way I do things. Waarom ik alles in het Engels doe?
Omdat ik video's kijk van Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers én heel veel Engelstaligen die allemaal Engels lullen en ook bootjesmensen / liveaboards zijn. Want alleen dan kan je je ervaring wereldwijd delen. En wat blijkt? Mijn video's worden in 127 landen bekeken (zie S03/E01 voor de lijst). Veel van mijn kijkers en abonnees zijn Engelstaligen die mijn video's helemaal top vinden, omdat ze óf familie hebben uit Nederland, of hier jaren geleden zijn geboren en door omstandigheden nu elders op de wereld wonen. En, dat ik dan Engels spreek met een accentje (net als de Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers overigens) dan interesseert hen dat helemaal niets.
Weet je dat Nederlandse ondertiteling aan kan zetten? Doorgaans zo'n 4 uur nadat de video is gepubliceerd. Klik op de video, en kies uit de iconen die rechtsonder verschijnen dan voor [ondertiteling] en kies daar voor Nederlands. Dan wordt zelfs mijn steenkolen Engels (knap he van die jongens en meisjes CZcams) vertaald naar Nederlandsch.

Well wait... perhaps there are nice mooring spots when one can go under the trainbridge. Did not bother to check that one out by bike.

Those farmers would not be very smart when they would sell the land for those windmills. They will probably lease (verpachten) that land to the energy companies.

Well, the destination may have been somewhat lackluster, but the ride down seemed quite pleasant.
I suppose not every place can be called a paradise. But perhaps a tour of the town may find something nice to see. Thank you for a great video

I totally agree with you, this place was below average😅 In another channel I saw some footage from the Dieze canal, that seemed like a more idyllic landscape. I cannot remember seing videos of you in that area (?) I might be wrong. But maybe that could be an interesting route..? All the best! Your videos are among the highlights of the week, and I enjoy so much to learn also about the geography of Netherland👌🏻😃
As I recall it, Breda has a very nice historic town centre with some beautiful buildings. Probably the canal was the least interesting bit - perhaps it is time to get off the boat and do some signtseeing!

Voorheen was mijn phone de draagbare unit tijdens het varen, en dan had ik die info ook op de fly. Sullig dat ik daar dit keer niet aan dacht. En ook in de edit had ik gewoon kunnen kiezen om alleen te vermelden “ik voer door deze spoorbrug,” maar het brengt ook wat leven in de brouwerij. ;-)
Hallo Henk Jan, ik merk dat jij weinig gebruik maakt van uw boeg en/of hekschroef vooral als er weinig stroming of wind staat. Daarvoor moet je natuurlijk vertrouwd zijn met de wielwerking van de schroef(ven). Heb ik het juist als ik zeg dat bij de meeste motorjachten met twee schroeven de linkse rechts draait en de rechte links draait. Groeten uit Antwerpen. Moet je ook eens bezoeken. Gert
Correct, Gert. Daarom kan je zo mooi manoeuvreren met 2 motoren. In veel gevallen gebruik ik niet eens het roer/stuurwiel, maar geef een klapje meer of minder bij met de SB of BB motor en dan corrigeer je zo de koers.
No need to feel sorry for the farmers. They generate several tens of thousands euro income per windmill per year by allowing a windmill on their land.
Hi Henk-Jan. your height restriction with the mast up seems to be your VHF aerials. Have you thought about re-siting them to a lower location? You will lose some range but not a problem when cruising locally. I enjoy your travels and look forward to the next ones. Capt John.
The aerials are at 7.1m and the wind transducer at 6.6m. Bridges on this tour differ from 5.5 to 7+, so lowering the mast is the best solution.

Hoi Henk, Nou om maar gelijk met de deur in huis te vallen Breda de parel van Brabant hmmmm 🤔. in ieder geval niet over het water eerder een gesloten oester daar valt nog wel het 1 en ander te verbeteren.Maar het centrum van Breda is zeker top ik kan het weten heb er enkele jaren op school gezeten. Maar de tocht er naar toe was best gezellig aanboord van de Lady Liselot
Ik denk dat de uitspraak is ontstaan op de 3e dag van het Carnaval, toen de geest ietwat bezoedeld was?
Henk, what are the dimensions of MV Lady Liselot? in the video, at the railway bridge, you mentioned that Lady Liselot was "a little bit shorter than 56 meters"????? 56 meters converts to about 164 feet, which would be possibly a LOT larger. I was thinking the Lady was more around 17-20 meters (55-65 feet) ??? Another nice adventure, thank you for having us along for the ride.

Henk Jan, het ligt aan de doorvaart hoogte van Lady Liselotte, niet aan Breda! Voldoende reisvoorbereiding had dit duidelijk gemaakt!
Ben blij te vernemen dat het aan mij ligt en niet aan het dorp.;-)

Ik lees in de opmerkingen dat ik onder de spoorbrug door de gezellige haven had gevonden. Dus als het past: waag de sprong.
Would it be possible to put a different mount for the aerials in order to allow them to be folded independently. That seems like a common part available. You could also tilt them back to match the height of the other items.
Yep. But that would only help 30cm since the wind transducer is the next item at 6.8m. So bringing down the mast ia the best option to go to flybridge height 5.3m
I was not sure if that would at least reduce the number of times you needed to drop the mast. It seems the aerials hit often. Not just for this bridge specifically.

In plaats vn hydrolische cylinder/ winch al eens gedacht aan 1 of meerdere gascylinders die helpen benodigde kracht te te reduceren? Groet Erik my Caspita
3 experts hebben gekeken en zijn weer vertrokken. Hydraulisch, actuatoren, lucht, de bouw is onhandig en je kan er helemaal niets mee.
Ik heb op natuurkunde.nl een berekening laten maken en daar kwam die 900Kg vandaan.
Voor de echte passantenhaven met voorzieningen in het gezellige centrum van Breda moet je dus die vaste spoorbrug onderdoor...
goed over nagedacht.. Kan je beter een stuk van de oude suikerfabriek ombouwen als fatsoenlijke nette haven.. Maar goed.. dan wordt die hoek nog niet warm en gezellig. (in tegenstelling tot de het centrum die dat wel is)
Dat staat nergens vermeld. De vermelding ‘passantenhaven’ was een spandoek. En verder was er geen vermelding dat gezelligheid op 400m afstand was.

Soms gaat het niet om de bestemming maar om de reis ernaar toe.

Het telefoonnummer van de spoorbrug staat ook gewoon in de Waterkaaartenapp, scheelt een hoop getuur……. Wel gek dat ze geen VHF hebben.

Ik geef toe, de passantenhaven is niet erg aantrekkelijk in Breda of zag je het gerechtsgebouw en moest je op de running ;-) ? Je kunt daar wel op een 50 meter afstand fijn inkopen doen zowel bij de Jumbo en of Aldi.
Verder is Breda als je tenminste iets doorgezet had wel een hele mooie en gezellige stad, je doet op deze wijze afbreuk aan Breda is mijn mening.
Bram, het was geen passantenhaven, het was een vlonder van 100m, met een spandoek met daarop 'passantenhaven'. Door het een naam te geven is het dat niet ineens. Ik ken Breda, daarom was ik benieuwd hoe het vanaf het water was. Mijn mening ken je inmiddels. Die geldt overigens ook voor de tocht er naar toe. Het lijkt alsof de ambtenaren bij Provincie Brabant zijn vergeten dat er een riviertje door hun provincie stroomt, waar bootjes wel eens zouden willen kunnen aanleggen. Of ze doen het express, ingegeven door misstanden elders. Kan ook.

it's been a while since i've navigated a boat through locks and bridges and stuff, but from what i recall you sort of half tie up to those "piles" you were trying to avoid. and then you can read the signs call the bridge operator whatever you need. I know you don't want to because i've watched you before some time ago but you REALLY need some extra hands on deck my guy. Just have a look at boats passing you, or ask them even. ARE THEY ALONE? i bet you a 1000€'s they are not. why did you tell the guy you don't need help mooring and then tell us Breda isn't welcoming? you just denied mooring what? could be accidental confusing editing? also weed is not allowed in the Netherlands it's tolerated it's other countries that have surpassed us like a load of states in america, there it's legal. That's why the boys are polluting your air under the bridge because it's not allowed to smoke weed in the smoke weed shops in the Netherlands hahahha. But please let someone help you, you can always kick them of. if you start fighting for whatever reason.
