Was Planned. We edited this show. It wasn't shown live. We only had an hour. It could never be that tight live. This was kind of if you wan't the big show you have to take the little show as part of the package to the tv stations.Our ratings were insane statewide and money was made by everone broadcasting. They would get local sponsors and we split the breaks 50-50. So they had a lot of 30 second spots to sell. This was not a charity for either them or us. The bar was pretty high and we had to deliver. The Lottery was worth $75K alone. We had all of our show sponsored. We never paid for hotel rooms or such. That's why I could money on the stage and in the quality of the experience. Only when times changed and sponsorships were non existent I looked at the delegates for revenue. I think it was $250 for a local and $250 for an ad when I took over in 1998 and started the prelims. Even then it only like $500 to enter. We made money off TV and live sales. I hated it when it shiffted. Thats where it is now. Directors only make money off of their contestants. I miss the Golden Days.
