I just sailed on Celebrity Cruises’ brand new ship the Celebrity Beyond. The Celebrity Beyond is like the Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Edge, but with many new additions to this new ship. The new cruise ship Celebrity Beyond is the brand new ship of Celebrity Cruises. The Beyond had her inaugural sailing in April 2022, followed by an inaugural season in the Mediterranean. The Celebrity Beyond is captained by Captain Kate McCue and will be repositioned via a transatlantic in October 2022. The Celebrity Beyond will then be home-ported in Fort Lauderdale, where the new Celebrity Beyond will sail cruises to the Caribbean.
In this Celebrity Beyond full food review video, I tell you all about the dining on Celebrity Beyond, including the new restaurant by Daniel Boulud, Le Voyage. Le Voyage is a new restaurant on Celebrity Beyond that has never been on a Celebrity Cruises ship before. I also talk about the Rooftop Garden Grill, Raw on Five, Le Grand Bistro, Normandie Restaurant, Oceanview Cafe, and Blu. I tell you many ways in which the food on Celebrity Beyond is different from the Celebrity Apex and the Celebrity Edge. Is Celebrity Beyond food better than Celebrity Apex food and Celebrity Edge food?
This 9-day voyage on Celebrity Beyond will visit Naples, Sicily, La Spezia, Santa Margherita, Nice, and Marseille. Celebrity Beyond will then disembark in Barcelona, Spain. Enjoyed your review. My experience on Le Voyage was completely different to yours. I was in a party of 4 and we all chose the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Each of us thought the quality of the food and wine was absolutely amazing. I’d say it was the best meal I’d ever enjoyed on a cruise. I’d definitely suggest giving it another try. I’m heading out on the Edge this week staying in a Sky Suite and cannot wait to try out Luminae and Blu. Keep up the excellent work.

Wow! An honest reviewer! Very few ever do anything but rave about everything, and they almost never discuss the misleading pricing (you don't get credit for the meals you paid for and didn't eat, obviously). I agree that food is important, but specialty dining is a scourge of the industry because it diminishes the overall experience for most people.

The format is perfect. The "as you go" was great paired with a fixed location, (in front of the same print in your stateroom) along with the steady tone and inflection in your narration - the overall consistency produced a well polished video.

My husband has BBQ - usually ribs - a couple times a week . He often gets them from a couple of food trucks near our house . He has tried the BBQ on several cruise lines and none have been very good. There are too many other great food options. He will leave the BBQ ( especially the ribs ) to land based eateries .

I'm sailing on the Beyond in October and while not my first Celebrity cruise, it's my first time sailing Edge class and the newest ship I've been on so far. I already have my favorites from other ships and I'm looking forward to finding new favorites on Beyond, especially Le Grand Bistro and Eden Cafe for lunch.

Got off the Edge a coupe of weeks ago...Cruise to Italy and the Greek Isles...IMHO, the service was unmatched...the entertainment great and the food SUPERB....forget Carnival, NCL, RC, MSC and the rest...The best value for the top notch cruise you get...BEST LINE...To be honest...I use to sail in Aqua Class all the time...I stopped when they took away a ton of amenities....ALSO, I can dine in a specialty restaurant every night and it would be cheaper then to sail in Aqua Class. The regular Veranda is the same exact cabin as Aqua Class...I been sailing with Celebrity since the 90's...Just doesn't make sense to pay a HUGE upcharge to eat in Blu when I can dine in specialty every night for much cheaper...ALSO...I find the food in the 4 main dining rooms to be excellent...It took me a bit to realize Aqua class is just not worth the hefty price. Also, I am Elite Plus and I get a ton of amenities anyway...

Butalina, but isn't the Aqua Class beneficial for the spa and thermal discounts? Even though those should be entirely free if you get Aqua Class to be honest.
@@robel3786 There are no spa service discounts with Aqua Class, discounts for the spa are applied at Elite level or higher not the cabin type.
Totally agree. Just got off celebrity summits Bermuda cruise. We stayed in an Aqua class balcony room. Really wasn’t interested in the spa aspect of this class of room. For me, being able to eat in Blu was the draw. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!! The food was great. The smaller atmosphere was welcome. We did not have the same waiter each night as we had chosen open time dining so we were at different tables each night. However, it was not a problem. All of our severs were excellent! Loved the summit and one of the main reasons was Blu.

Thanks for a great review! We'll be on Beyond in October and am starting to research the restaurants so we know what to book. Appreciate all your thoughts! We do know we are going to try Rooftop Garden Grill; I'll keep in mind what you said about the ribs. BBQ is so different regionally, so sweet in one place is perfect, while tangy in another is the best. I'm pretty sure our group will all order a different plate then do family style to try it all.

I enjoyed this review. My husband and I just booked an aqua suite on the Celebrity Equinox so I'm really excited now to try Blu. you'll love it. We've done AQ Class on 11 cruises now. It's our preferred booking. The filet mignon with the celeriac puree is just HEAVEN. Ummm.
And Equinox is our favorite ship. We've done AQ class on it 4 times and a Royal Suite one time. We tried the Sushi on 5 when we did the Royal Suite and were not impressed. But Murano - as always - was MONEY.
@@ZachtheTravelingMan We tried Aqua Class for the first time on Equinox' inaugural season in 2009, and immediately fell in love with it; even my very picky husband who insisted that Celebrity give us a promise that if my husband didn't like Blu, they would seat us in the main dining room instead for the duration of the cruise. From the very first night to many years later as we have been sitting in Blu, we laugh at the absurdity of his apprehension that he would not like the food. We both love it! However, finally for the last night of a recent cruise, I noticed at breakfast there wasn't a dinner entree choice on the Blu menu that he would like. I checked the entree choices for the main restaurant, and found one he would like. When we were seated at Blu for dinner, I asked our waiter for the entree from the main restaurant, and it was served alongside my entree, on time, fresh and at the perfect temperature, and my husband loved it. So on the outside chance that someone does not see what they'd like on the menu, Celebrity waitstaff are eager to accommodate and make a guest happy, just wanted to add that info.

The Luminae restaurant attached to the suite class cabins is way better than Blu. A beautiful intimate experience. You can order from the other menus as well.

Thanks Zach! Your food videos are great! We're back on Apex (not Beyond) in Sept. We're hoping for good weather so that we can try Rooftop Garden Grill - had to cancel in May due to open venue and cold windy weather. ...okay, we're going to try the caesar salad! Thanks for your honest review of the ribs - we don't have extensive bbq joints around us, so your review is very helpful. We booked Eden (twice) and will do lunch at Le Grand Bistro again. We also noticed a large drop-off in service from Blu to MDR, but Tuscany seemed understaffed and they tried hard (and apologized). Too bad Le Voyage didn't meet understandably high expectations - Have you tried a Celebrity Chef's Table? We really liked it and signed up again next March.
I have not tried the Chef’s Table yet but definitely want to at some point. I hope you enjoy the Apex, I definitely can’t wait to be back on her later this year.

I was a Princess sailor and my partner a Royal C… we comp’d and did a Celeb to find “our” line… we fell in love with Edge class and X on the voyage and was an instant match -- we sailed in The Retreat.. can’t wait till you finally spoil yourself and use the suites. We would ever do anything less than a suite in the future… X and The Retreat were unbeatable.
I’ve heard so many people say that about the Retreat! Even that they’d sail less just to be able to be in a suite when they do cruise. Thanks for watching!
Good reviews, but maybe review the spa and suite class restaurants in a separate video? Most don't have access to those restaurants so would have liked more information of the dining open to everyone.
This format is good....thanks for a great review. I'll be joining my first cruise in September and I'm going to be honest, top of my mind are the ports & excursions so I'm opting to allocate my funds towards my excursions and I'm going to eat in the MDR and swerve the speciality restaurants. I may or may not regret this decision ☺️

Thanks for watching! I would definitely say try the sushi there - I was just on Equinox a couple weeks ago and had a sushi roll and it was so delicious. Highly recommend the Shrimp Tempura! Try it out and see what you think. And have a great cruise!!
Zach, another good review! To compare my experiences, we did Raw at Five on both EDGE and APEX and that’s enough. Good seafood, but pricy. On the EDGE, we tried Fine Cut Steakhouse and were honestly disappointed. We had a much BETTER cut of steak in LeGrand Bistro in it’s Le Petit Chef dinner mode, twice!! Since we were in Sky Suites and ate mainly in Luminae, we we given permission to try BLU which we loved, as well as Cypress on both cruise because of the superb Lamb Shank! The meat falls off the bone! I am curious to see what my dining options on the Beyond will be on the TransAtlantic crossing being in a Concierge class cabin. I have already selected one primary dining room, but with it being a crossing, food is the entertainment, so I want to try the other restaurants but I think I will skip the Michelin restaurant since you were unimpressed….

V ery good to learn about the Edge class restaurant options; we're very experienced Solstice class cruisers, and have travelled on quite a few other lines. I'd agree, of all of them tried so far, Celebrity has the best cuisine. My last time on Princess I was disgusted to find they added cheese sauce to the Eggs Benedict! Ugh! (First world problems, right?)
I totally agree about the food, in the Eden, on the Apex. We had experienced the Chef’s Table and we thought the food in the Eden was much better.

Aqua class is expensive. If the only reason someone books it is for blue I would do the math. It may be cheaper to pay for specialty dining every night.

Trying to do my research for a cruise. Watched lots of videos and I am confused about the food. Sounds like most of these restaurants require payment of some sort, even room service. Are any restaurants included for 3 meals or just the buffet?

Blu is one of my favorite things Celebrity has. Nothing else compares to that delicious food. I think you’ll be very satisfied if you go Aqua on Beyond. So much good food on that ship!

We first travelled on Celebrity in 2016 and were very impressed. As a result we were excited to travel again this year. The service was excellent across the board. What disappointed us was the high charge for the specialty restaurants. The incremental difference between any cabin class is far less than their additional charge incurred. We are unlikely to cruise Celebrity again due to this.
Unfortunately the prices on everything, including specialty dining and drink packages, continue to increase. It’s really getting out of hand.
Can we just turn up to any MDR if we are pre-assigned Blu as an Aqua Class guest?
It is my understanding that you can order off the MDR menu in Blu.
I'm not sure why people keep getting suckered into paying extra for food when they have already paid for it in their cruise fare. It's especially foolish when the cruise line already has a great reputation for food. And then people compound that by paying even more for a "celebrity chef" restaurant? I guess I should thank those of you that do that - by overpaying for your cruise, you are actually lowering my basic cruise fare. Well done!
We do what we can. There are some restaurants onboard that are really worth it - such as Eden.
I suggest you go on Regent cruises. All included, everything is amazing including finest wines. I left celebrity, I was over being nickeled and dimed to death
Zach is wi-fi, gratuities and drinks included on your fare? I am trying to book a cruise for next year but it does not show that these are included.
They do offer a no-perks rate now but there will be an option at some point in the booking process to select Always Included. This is the rate you want for those things included.
Coffee at dinner in Europe is generally taken following desert and not with it. The Normandie restaurant sailing in europe would expect to serve this way maybe.
That’s not normally how it was served on the ship, though. So that’s why it was a bit off.

food is definitely more upgraded on edge class ships. None of the food I received on Equinox was presented this nicely. I tried Murano, which was pretty good but I wouldn't say outstanding. If you are interested in it I would book it ahead of time. There was almost no availability for it once you get on the ship- especially if the cruise is fully booked.
Thanks for the heads up! It’s already sold out for the first few nights of my cruise. I assume Equinox is sailing at a greater capacity than the Edge class right now - all of those being in Europe.
We did the Chef's Table last summer on the Summit and it was ok. The big problem with Celebrity is the food is so good all over the ship that it is hard to top the 'included' food in any speciality restaurant.
One restaurant that you didn't mention is Luminae. That, IMHO, is the best restaurant in the fleet and made the Chef's table experience feel ordinary.

The last time we were in Aqua Class, one evening we had terrible slow service in Blu. We had to request to be changed to a different table. After that experience, and due to the higher cost of an Aqua class cabin, we have not booked Aqua cabins again.
Sorry to hear about that! I am interested to see how good the quality and everything is once capacity is increased. I’ve only been sailing at or less than 1100 people!

I hate it when someone takes a beautiful steak and smothers it in sauce. Sauce is a French word taken from the Latin salsa, meaning salted. It's purpose was to cover up the flavour of rancid meat. I had a nice big rib steak served to me once that came dripping with BBQ sauce. Just looking at it broke my heart.
I normally do not put any sauce on my steak. If it comes with it that’s another story. In the case of the Blu ribeye, it was delicious.
Maybe not a good question, but I'll be cruising soon with celebrity, if I prepay for specialty dining (like Tuscan grill, le petit, etc.) , is that payment for the "cover charge" simply just to eat at the restaurant, like it doesn't include credit towards the food/drinks you order?
Hi Cody - great question! If you prepay for specialty dining that is the entire meal and all the food on the menu. So if you pay $50 for Tuscan Grille beforehand then you owe nothing once you dine there on the cruise. Have a great cruise!

Because I had Blu I wanted to maximize my time there. You can find all those menus on the Celebrity app. And I’ll be featuring all the dining rooms in a couple months when I sail on the Apex. Also have another Apex food review featuring the dining rooms already on my channel.

I’ve only been on one cruise in 14 yrs and that was the Sky earlier this yr. Do you think the main dining food is suffering because of all the specialty restaurants on these ships? The prices on the specialty dining on Celebrity seems a lot more than other ships.
I don’t think that at all for Celebrity. The food you get in the dining room is still excellent quality. However, I have been on other cruises, namely Carnival, where the MDR food was awful and made me seek out specialty dining options.

For now they can. Typically when ships are at a fuller capacity that won’t be allowed, at least that’s what crew told me. But only 100 were booked in Aqua this cruise.
@@ZachtheTravelingMan we always book suite.. even before Pandemic...when ships were full and we were always able to get a table at Blu ... but we are charming .. so we generally get what we want :-)

I've been twice at Le Voyage, once for the $75 menu and then for the Chef Table ($139 !!). All was very good, but I join you on this idea that with that kind of price and story telling about the Chef and the restaurant, it's not as high as it should be. And it's a bad idea to do the menu and the chef table because in fact, Chef's Table is based on the same menu... that was the main disappointment ! I already tried other cruise lines "Chef's Table", always a bit expensive... but it's the first time they don't make the effort to have an exclusive menu, and just pick some items on the normal menu. Lazy and disappointing. But Celebrity, apart that, offers so many good food options, to me second to none for that category of cruise lines. Blu is a top in itself, every day (too bad that it's only opened for breakfast and diner). Even in the Aqua Sky Suite I had on Celebrity Beyond, having access to the Luminae and the Blu, I would say the same thing about Luminae : it's presented as something so high level, that when you eat there... you finally find out it's good, sometime very good, but the menu is very limited (compare to Blu for instance) and not as good as they seem to market it. So agree with you, Blu is the main reason of going Aqua Class (even better than the Retreat and it's Luminae). Next cruise on Celebrity Apex, on August 🙂

Totally agree with you about the quality and selection at Blu, and still yet to get to try out Luminae! Hopefully soon. I’ll be back on Apex this fall and already cannot wait. With specific reference to the Raw on 5 comments... you had fried food and steak? I know those dishes are on the menu for the meat and potatoe crowd but a review that focused on the seafood offerings might have a little more credibility... just saying 🙂

Those are pork ribs, not beef ribs. Beef ribs are much larger. The were probably just baked in the oven instead of being smoked, which is why they were not as tender as they could be.

I took a celebrity cruise. I went to the future cruise office on board the ship. I put a deposit down on a future cruise of $200 for April 2024! I later decided to cancel that cruise. Celebrity will not refund my money nor will they let me move it to another Celebrity Cruise as an onboard credit! Nope, they are just going to keep my $200. Just be warned! They are money hungry it seems. HAL doesn’t treat guests like that. Your deposit is good for 4 years.

Hello Zack - and all your cruise friends. We had a hole different story to tell about Celebrity Byond when it comes to food and service. After Celebrity Cruises confirmed that gluten free food was no problem and served at all restaurants onboard - we booked on the ships first voyage from Southampton to Barcelona. The first day onboard we wanted to try Blu restaurant since we had Aqua class. to be 100% sure that the food we ordered was gluten free, we had the waiters to check with the chef for each dish. We enjoyed ourselves with what we thought was a good meal. After the dinner we went for a walk around the ship. About an hour later, we had to return to our cabin at full speed. It was the start of a nightmare that lasted the entire cruise. The consequences were severe vomiting and diarrhea 24/7 throughout the cruise. We got no help from the crew on board. We were in the cabin pretty much the whole cruise to the end. The condition was confirmed by the ship's doctor. Now we hope at least, Celebrity Cruises will cover all our expenses for the whole trip - but Celebrity is completely silent - so far. This is for us a very sad experience, which we hope no one will experience.
