Smg2 has a bug with them in a specific level with windmills and clouds btw. If you BARELY touch the launch star pieces the trigger that you grabbed the piece doesnt trigger. I think cause the shadow mario trigger is a seperate entity that has a smaller hitbox. That way the devs didnt have to put in effort adding a delay or fixing the game freezing during the collection process and keeping the launch star indicator on screen at all times cause the timer got frozen.

Most people think Cosmic Clones/ Shadow Marios were an original concept for later games, but as we can see here, the idea was originally planned to be used in SM64, but the idea was eventually scrapped. It was eventually decided it would be too easy to dodge clones that follow your movement path in a 3D space, so it was never used. Unlike other scrapped concepts (like the reach for the summit titled star on tall tall mountain), this idea never made it into the game in any form.

Gives me an initial sense of comfort with the dire dire docks vibe.. But then the harmonic stuff from the song starts to hit. Gives me this underlying sense of needing to push to get out of the comfort zone and confront things. In less dramatic terms, I love it.

One of the worst offenses starts around 5:25 and happens through the rest of the song. There's a note that happens twice in a run, where the first is a half step too low compared to the original. The chord is a major V chord, but the wrong note is a minor 3rd instead of a major 3rd, which is very jarring.
