Actually, she had just turned 10 when this performance took place. At that time she had very little professional training so this performance is really incredible. You mentioned about not seeing her breathing very much. You must know that at that time she was an accomplished long distance runner. At age 7 and 8 she won 15K races. That explains why many comments have been made that she make singing look effortless.
Judging by your reaction to this performance I think you would enjoy her performance of Ave Maria Gounod at the Christmas concert in Iceland in 2015. She is 11 years old and sings it as a duet with and adult tenor.
He keeps looking at her in wonder while they perform and turns to her after the end and says mama Mia and continues to rave about her performance.
There are many other Fab performances. I would suggest sticking to the timeline of her development year by year. The changes from one concert to the next, at times just months apart, is amazing to watch.
She phrases like Maria Callas because she learned singing watching Maria Callas, particularly her mouth movement. Got her lungs by being (and still is) a winning distance runner.
She's 10 years old here, with no real training except a masterclass from Andre, this truly is a miracle.
She is excellent in everything she does, here she was into long distance running, thats why she has good lung capacity.
As you reacted to a later video, she had even more in her life, school major exams, which she took seriously as she didn't know which way she was going to go, so many things she wanted to do, athletics one of them, ice skating another.
She was born with a beautiful voice, a huge talent, she has fitted in everything, and it amazes me how she found the time.
Singing wasn't then her first priority, so not breathing properly really isn't an issue...

First, great reaction. Yes, sometimes she is not 100% flawless in her technique. Amira herself has said that her singing is not about technique--she feels like she is floating above a trampoline (her sentiments from an documentary) and loves singing and loves giving people music that they enjoy---and the audience was in tears for sure. Having said that, at age 10--as you said--she is truly amazing. I believe she can become this generation's Maria Callas if she desires to do so. Next, you were saying at the beginning about her nerves--she is not nervous when singing--it is a peaceful, happy time for her. She confidently walks on stage and totally enjoys her time to sing. She doesn't have butterflies--even when singing with a full orchestra, choir and in front of over 15,000 people. Another thing that makes her amazing. BTW, this video has over 62 million views and is STILL getting about 1 million views each month, so quite a few people think she is amazing. Subscribed and awaiting your next reaction to her.

It will be interesting for you to hear her sing one of the songs available on CZcams from her two online concerts in late 2020 when she was 16. Or any from the big concerts she sang in in the years in between. Take your pick depending on what your preferred type of song is. There are many videos of these performances on her CZcams channel.
Mad Musician. Thank you for your Reaction, much appreciated. Andre invited Amira to take part in the concert and coached her for it. At the beginning of her career several people criticised her for not having the maturity of a 30-year=old, but this was more a case of showing off their own "superiority." Amira is now 17 and embraces arias, classic-crossover. hymns, musicals, etc. It is too soon to know whether she will concentrate on opera. You might enjoy listening to a wide range.

Thanks Mad - Amira is performing LIVE on 20th March in Pretoria, South Africa celebrating her 18th birthday - I and a rather large group of family and friends will be attending this live performance and your reaction to what is sure to be the best of the best showcasing her outrageous talent will be very interesting over the coming months..
In her first performance she was totally self-taught by the time she did this what she'd actually had a little bit of training.

I have seen many "reactions" to different performances of Amira by many "reactors" and you are the only truly professional one who knows what it is all about. You just have to take into account that she started at 9 years old without any training. That, in addition to her beautiful voice makes her more amazing

Breathing in mid phrase is ok in opera but not in others form of singing
the million dollar question you sing.. It's easy to criticize a girl you know what it means for her to sing in front of a massive audience .. personality to face a big challenge ..
The important point here is that André Rieu stands next to this song and teaches breath points according to Amira's age, height, physique, and vital capacity according to Amira until just before.
