In Punk Hazard there's no implication that Luffy is a Zoan user, Luffy simply tell Momo to transform back since Momo's fruit is zoan then Momo ask him how but Luffy said he doesn't know because he think he's not zoan type. I also don't think this is a foreshadowing since it's super vague implication (since his Zoan feels like Paramecia), the only implication we have for Luffy having Zoan DF is his gears powers (make him stronger by training and having different form of fighting which is zoan's user feature), Red Hawk/Red Roc and G4 cloud neck wrapper (which imply his DF is more than just rubber power).

Yep, but also the fact that it acts like a Paramecia awakening. That's honestly what makes the fruit so strong, it's two types in one fruit, and you get the benefit of both awakenings.

I gotta give props to Mayumi Tanaka for her work on this episode and the previous one, she has surpassed expectations when it comes to voicing Luffy in his awakened form, even after 25 years of being Luffy she still manages to impress me

I love how this entire fight just went from Serious and hopeless to an absolute chaos, madness, laughter and jokes in a span of 2 episodes.
My God everyone is just having a blast along with Luffy! LET US FANS FEEL THE JOY!
There's something you have to understand about Gear 5: It's not an stylistic choice to have other character have cartoony reactions (like the jumpy eyes on everybody downstairs), IT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING.
Just re-watch the scene of luffy getting out of Kaido's body by grabbing his nose THROUGH HIS DAMN EYES to pull himself... That has nothing to do with rubber, he should be blind but he isn't, you will see more of this reality warping near the end of the fight.
Even Kaido himself comments on it, saying it looks like something out of a comic strip.
The power of a Nika, God of the Sun is literally warping reality to match what Luffy thinks it's funny.
Everybody already had those types of reactions before with eyes popping out of their heads and faces warping

That doesn't bode well for the rest of One Piece in my opinion. If it's all this over the top cartoon craziness with the eyes popping out of their sockets and such, then the rest of One Piece will feel like a Tom and Jerry cartoon and I'd rather it doesn't get even more silly than it already is. I like when Luffy gets serious in battles and if it's all laughing nonsense every gear 5 transformation, and the seriousness is gone, then I worry the ending will suck.

@@AnObviousDonut Because I imagine every Luffy fight from now on being a cartoon fight, lacking all seriousness. That effectively takes away the best part of Luffy and one of the best elements of the show in my opinion. I get the show is silly but Saturday Morning cartoon silly and the fights are all a joke now? I hope I'm wrong.
This episode was EXACTLY what I was looking forward to when Gear 5 was first shown in the manga.

@johntaylor7354 I actually find gear 5 fun and creative. Ultra instinct is cool, but DragonBall super in general wasn't that good to Me. I liked that they were trying to bring back unique techniques actually working like time skip, illusions or instant transmission.
@@johntaylor7354I will never get the glazing for Ultra Instinct, some asspull where they put some blue silver filter on Goku and have him be able to react to stuff automatically, that's it? Killua's electric form in HxH is even better than that and Gear 5 as well with all of it's creativity and soul, something Super just really lacks in general so they have to pump out all these lame transformations as a crutch.
A lot better animation than 1071. This is legit 100% great. The frames and scenes are well balanced, you can follow the fight scene compared to 1071. Literally I was smiling the whole time watching this 1072 epsiode.
Yeah I was kinda upset about the animation last episode, this was genuinely great. Credit where they deserve it.

@trots4940 Yeah the animation went just as hard. But unfortunately the Hiyori/Orochi scene dragged the episode down and reused one scene 3 times. Other than those flaws it still made an amazing episode
But you could tell there was more work in the last one, it just suffered from bad pacing aside from this episode which is 100% of the fight
@@AJ_._._ My only complaint was some scenes being overanimated, But yes there was so much beautiful animation in that episode, The pacing really hurt it.
One very disturbing and emotional part of this episode is that Luffy if forcefully causing his heart to beat to achieve G5 after it wears off. He forcefully does it by remembering all the people and Pedro especially. He can't go on any longer but if he falls on his knees then it's all over. All hope is gone. Kinda reminding me of Whitebeard now tbh. He was that symbol of strength and who everyone could look up to. Even after gaping holes and his face being blown off him still fighting to the very end to keep the hopes of his crew alive.
You just had to bring up that "The Boys" scene😭. I was trying my damndess to get that out of my head for good. This episode had me both hype and dying out laughter.
My patience is waning is this entertaining

I love your reactions, you give me the feel of a legitimate OP fan with you laughing at every frame of Gear 5's silliness and genuinely enjoying the cartoony power-up. It's something the author himself intended when he drew Gear 5, he wanted himself and his fans to have fun just like how we used to laugh at cartoons as children rather than making things so serious and intense.

Oda introduced the Hito Hito no mi with Chopper at DRUM ISLAND.
He said he was happier after eating the fruit at chapter 1.
His silhouette at the campfire during Skypiea Arc was resembling of Nika and also that was the first place were the Sun God was mentioned.
There is a lot of foreshadowing and i didn't even mentioned everything

that phrase needs to go away, nothing breaks the internet. This won't even break the anime community. Someone pointed it out, the reveal of gear 5 was like less than a quarter of the views and traction as Baryon mode on Crunchyroll

Oda drew inspiration from the cartoon Tom and Jerry. Oda himself wanted to draw something funny and also wanted Luffy's fights to regain some funny elements, even though he was aware the general audience of One Piece would not like this concept because the general action sequences of contemporary Shonen manga are taken too seriously, causing the genre's uniqueness in the past to be lost over time. With the introduction of Gear 5, Oda wanted to create a polarity between Luffy's cartoonish humor and Kaidou's deadly seriousness.

Oda is the foreshadowing master. There's so many aspects of Luffy's power that can't be explained by him having a Rubber Paramecia, like his teeth being restored by drinking milk, or his Gum-Gum Red Hawk attack, or his ability to eat comically large amounts of food and instantly digest them to regain energy. It's just easy to overlook that stuff because it all fits within the comedic tone of the show, but those all stem from Luffy's ToonForce.

People want that serious anime battle but the thing is we got that from Zoro vs King and Luffy vs Kaido. This is so epic and goofy at the same time, it’s never been done before 💀
Because the debut of gear 5 is what people have been waiting on for months. A lot of people are already up to date on what's happening in the manga so like we already know what gonna happen, but we still wanted to see gear 5 when it first drops on screen. That is what the animators ruined with the unnecessary repetitions and poor animations. If 1071 had this well thought out animation everyone would have been happy. It's not hate per say, just disappointment at what could have been legendary.

This power and the fun Luffy was happening really threw me back to pre timeskip. Where it just has that nostalgic feeling, where Luffy is just doing withiut thinking to hard about it. And i absolutely love post timeskip and Gear 4th, but I imagine its been holding hum back from fighting the way he truly wanted to

Jami the biggest foreshadowing moments happened in skypia arc.... And little things like how luffy's slippers and straw hat have no damage throughout the series.. 😂 like he's affecting things from the beginning
technically his straw hat is damaged; it has 3 knife cuts through the top caused by Buggy during their first meeting, and then stitched back up by Nami (I think). They've shown the sewing marks a few times through the series on close up shots but it would be a pain to have to always animate them
2:30 This episode where this happened was in episode 611. He told Momo that he isn't a zoan type 😂

Neat detail Kaido asks who luffy is after awakening due to him suspecting his fruit is a zoan and zoan awakenings can potentially take over the user because zoan fruits have their own souls so I thought that was a really cool remark
