- Last week's sdc4 was heartbreaking to watch, especially towards the end when wyb started crying. As someone who is very hush hush about his private life, this came as quite a shock tbh.
He later shared that his grandpa had passed and it all made sense. Looking back at some old videos while editing this, he's really matured a lot.

He's an intensely private person, so it must have deeply affected him to bare his heart like this. These are the moments fans should realise celebs are human and stop harassing them and adding to their difficulties.

I enjoy hearing his POV of things. Especially when he explains why. I like how precise and firm he is with his answers. He doesn't beat around the bush. No wishy washy mumbo jumbo answers.
Maybe he wants to protect his daughter as such sports can be quite rough and aggressive and injury prone.
He's mature beyond his age and truly sensitive. It breaks my hear when I see him crying, because it's always about what matters most in life 😢 As much as I can't stand seeing him crying, though, I do appreciate to no end the fact that he never hides his emotions, and only TRUE men do so. It's rare that he allows himself to be vulnerable in front of the cameras. He's slowly letting his guard down and show his soft side again. I was surprised at the amount of private details he shared on the latest ddu ep.
I don't know how to explain it but even though people always look at Yibo's serious side, he is still a person who feels and cries. Looking at him this way is very difficult for me and it must be even more difficult for himself.
Comparing the way Yibo was in 2016 to that of 2021, he has matured a lot and it shows. He went from not wanting to call his father to say ily to talk us about appreciating our family and spend time with them as long as possible.
@Winwin makes me Happy In the video Yibo calls his father to tell him "I love you" but decides not to tell him. When the staff offer to call his father again, he declines. He seemed a bit shy and awkward, because it's probably not common for him to do it.
@Winwin makes me Happy to build on on what @yuteko fushiguro explained, typical Asian families are not very expressive towards each other, especially between father and son (mother with children would usually be more expressive), so it's expected that it was probably the same between Yibo and his dad. Saying 'I love you' can feel really awkward when it's not usually done, and at that point Yibo probably hadn't felt comfortable doing it (and on camera as well) which was why he rejected to call his dad to express himself

It's creepy to realise how everyday we are getting closer to that inevitable separation from our loved ones. Life is too short, live the way you want to live, love the people you like more deeply and smile a bit more genuinely.
I admire you more and more everyday Yibo, especially when you speak your heart out. It shows you are really warm person at heart. Love you 💚

yibo is so pure. some ppl may find him rude but no if you break thru the facade, he's a very gentle soul. he's more than what meets the eye. his perception abt things is v broad and it just shows that he's been thru a lot. lucky are those who knows him truly well. he's a rare gem 💗

He feels things so deeply, I am in awe of how much he’s in touch with his feelings. Whether he chooses to show his thoughts or not is entirely up to him. There is a time and place and only he gets to decide that.
We’ve seen time and again how balanced his comments are for competitions or even non-comp events. He’s thoughtful, fair and encouraging.
I love how he screams and fanboys over Bouboo and AC, cry with Colin, whoops with joy with Yang Kai, so in awe of Acky San..Wang Yibo’s range of emotions is thrilling and it gives me joy to see him express every single one of them freely💚💚.
It's really heartbreaking to know that yibo hides a lot of his pains and doesn't want to bother others but would rather cry silently, he has alwz talked about how much his grandparents mean to him, it's obvious he loves them very much and his grandfather died and none of us knew, if not for ddu,we would never have known. I hope those people judging and criticizing him also realize he's a human being and maybe get to know him better so you'll see how much of an amazing person he is💚💚💚💚. May his grandpa's soul rest in peace 🙏
Poor Yibo, I couldn't bare watch you cry like that. What a sweet and sincere, honest young man. Your grandpa would be so so proud of you, I'm sure. And Yibo, he really looks a lot like his father, I think he's got his father's eyes and smile, but his mother's nose 😌💚

Life experiences has really matured him. He's always been a deep thinker, he just doesn't express it until he needs to and that's when it hits you how mature and logical his thinking is. I admit, I bawled my eyes out watching Colin's performance last week at 1am to the point i woke up the following day and my eyes were so puffy. It certainly did hit home...

Yibo has matured a lot in the late 2 years.. to the extend that I cant even recognize him sometimes (he was always mature and serious though, just that he is more now). I just hope that the world wouldn't be so hard on him, people would be more gentle to him, let the guy enjoy his life a bit more while he is still young.. I love you so much WYB~

I was very moved seeing his reaction on Street Dance of China last week. He is still grieving the loss of his grandfather. He must have been feeling it very deeply to have cried on camera like that. It reveals too much vulnerability about you when this happens in public. Grief over the loss of a family member is something intensely private, generally only shared with the most trusted family and friends, and even more so if you are a big star. I really hope Yibo has those safe harbors in his life, those people who are there for him and that he feels comfortable turning to for support and comfort.
I am always amazed at how soulful your videos are and with what enthusiasm you make them for us. All I can say over and over again is that I really enjoy watching your videos. This video is again very soulful and it shows very well how soulful and sensitive Yibo is under his hard shell.

Everytime i see Yibo cry i have to cry to. Its just that he rarely cries especially infront of the camera, so when he did i knew it must have been something serious and it must be very emotional. I only wish him happiness and i hope he will/can find the time within his busy schedule to visit his loved ones especially his parants and his now lonely grandma 💚 hope his company is considering that i know its not easy but I hope and wish 🙏💚
When Yibo cried, I cried. 💚 When you move away from home, it's not always easy to come back to visit. I made the decision when my Dad was getting ill more often, to return home. I sold everything and went home and I am one of the lucky ones that I got to have almost 2 years with my dad before he passed away. Time is short, Life is uncertain and you have to make the time to see your loved ones (even if it is a video call due to the pandemic), let them know you love them. It's too late, when it's too late...then all you have are regrets.😭😭😭😭 I miss hugs!!!

Omg!! You made me cry so hard. I didn't think about his perception of death and if he thought about it during Colin's dance 😭. It really was shocking to see Yibo open up and him showing his emotions. I also wondered if it was recorded after he went to Hunan and how that maybe affected him too... I can't remember the timeline and might be way off. Anyway thank you again for a beautiful and touching video ❤️💚.

This portion of that episode of SDC4 was especially hard for me because I lost my grandfather in a tragic accident last November and though he was 97, he was healthy for his age. So anytime I watch something like this as we’re still grieving, it hits like a ton of bricks and I just wanted to reach out through the screen, hug Yibee, and Colin and cry along with them because I was legit balling watching that portion. Very draining. But it just goes to show that family matters and these kids are away from home and don’t see their family much especially in their grandparents and parents older years.
Watching this really touch my heart, I am a very sensitive person when it comes to things like this. I do sometimes think like Yibo too and sometimes those thoughts and emotions cannot be held back. Yibo is a very strong and kind individual, that is why I LOVE and SUPPORT HIM AND WILL, FOREVER. All I want is to see him happy and him finding his own happiness. ❤❤😢

Actually Colin song is very popular in my country too and I get emotional everytime I hear it since both my parents passed away and no more family house to return to. However, I was a bit shocked when Yibo started to cry. Yibo who rarely shows his emotions and who always put on a brave face during hard times literally breakdown and crying makes me sad and worry. I really wish at the moment Yibo take some time off and go back home.

When I see how happy and carefree Yibo was in his UNIQ days and how careful and even a little uptight sometimes now, I feel he has been forced to mature too quickly and cruelly in the entertainment world. And when he so rarely lets his guard down (as in the Colin episode in SDC4), it breaks my heart.😭 After all, he has just turned 24.

I'm sorry I sound very sensitive but I can't help it but when wang yibo started to cry honestly so did I even doe I don't personally know him it hurts me to see him cry, I can definitely relate to him missing his grandparent because I miss mine I'm sooo happy he's doin his best to stay strong I hope he remembers that he has many fans who can relate and who are here to support him ALL THE WAY💓

I couldn't relateable to grandfather thing in sdc4 episode 3 , because my grand parent died when my father was a teen or yonger, don't know how and never asked too because not make my father sad, I do have grandpa, but he was like half paralysed or something like this due to excessively drinking alcohol and smoking, I don't have that bond, plus I really hate him. When colin showed his emotions through his dance, I felt bit of sad but when I came to know they are talking about his grandfather I was I complete blank, as a when yibo cried again I felt sad seeing him cry. I don't know why even I write it. 😅

I want to say so many things but it's all too painful for me and I feel the words cannot express feeling properly. So I will just say this: in 2016 Yibo didn't want to call his dad because it was too painful for him and not because he didn't care. He probably didn't want to get emotional in front of the camera. Sometimes if something is hurting too much we will try to avoid thinking about it. Just my feelings and thoughts about it.

This made me think of Yibo in a different way. Maybe he seems cold or serious cause he is protecting himself cause he is a very sensitive person and has been hurted by people or his past experiences (like the death of a loved one.) The first time you experiment your grandpa or granma's passing, you start facing those thoughts and you become stronger indeed, but more mature too. I hope that Yibo can heal so he can show his vulnerable side more, he must have great values and moral and it be great if he can share it with us.

The only thing that made me sad was that Yibo wants a son so that he can teach them his favorite sports/hobbies. Girls can learn those things too :// Yibo is usually so inclusive and I like that he doesn't baby women and expects just as much hard work out of them as men (from what I've seen of him as a captain on SDC) but that view point just made me sad.
I think the reason he said that is because of the father-son bond, he does not have the best father son bond with his father. So I am sure he just wants to have what he and his father missed. It's not just about the activities that he wants to share, it's the memories and bond that he wants to create, one which he most likely never got to have with his dad. I don't know how to explain it in psychological terms but it is very prevalent in today's age that most people strive to be better parents than their parents...
