    This was so helpful for the stairs. I had major knee surgery and my physical therapist from the hospital told me to hop up the steps but I have a lot of steps in my house and barely any muscle to keep jumping

      Same but surgery on both legs and one leg is literally useless with a cast other one is weak and very bad stretch and bad balance is hard here I hope by the time I write this comment you are fine cause is been 5 months

      @@blackpaperclip7682 oh wow. I have no idea how you were able to handle both, but it’s impressive. I have full mobility. I’m just still working on gaining my muscle back. I have to get my other knee done so I’ll probably have to look back at this video as reminder in a few months. Lol

      So did I😢. I was so ashamed of my weight,it was so hard for two men to get me ,sitting on my chair😟to my first floor apartment, (30 stairs. I was so afraid to go out . Thank you! Now it is possible to visit my doctor by myself. I understand everything it is so clear,thank you very much!

      I just broke my ankle and I had to scoot upstairs on my butt at first and my husband had to he-hulk my non-skinny self upright. This is a very helpful video!

      @@H3LLB0Y2403 Me, too. I just can't get my foot off the ground, I'm so scared. I go up and down the stairs at home sitting down and scoot to the couch. Just hopping up on a curb when I go to physical therapy is terrifying right now. Hope you recover soon. I can't wait to be weight bearing!

      @@H3LLB0Y2403 I broke my leg and a few days ago I was going up some stairs (like 4 or 5) and I lost my balance, fell back and landed on my broken leg. Up on my ass for now on 😂

    I'm on my 4th month using crutches and I still don't have the confidence to go up/down stairs without nothing that can support me because I know my balance sucks. 😂 I do the first technique but near the handrail just in case.

    i sprained my ankle and am terrified to go up the stairs on the school bus. those steps are hella steep and sometimes i fall even when both feet are working.

    For going up and down the stairs, my mom told me to do the second methods/choices because I can hold on to the railings to avoid falling and hurting myself even more.

      I know right! I just had foot surgery and I’m on crutches for a month or more. I can’t seem to get up or down my stairs with them. I just scoot down on my butt. It’s so annoying tho. I’m scared to fall down with crutches so guess better safe than sorry😂

      I agree. It depends on the type of steps your dealing with. I live in a pre-war building and the steps are high. It’s hell using them to go my foot doctor post surgery with my foot in a boot, using crutches. I almost resorted to doing the booty scoot on the stairs but with the hell of my mother and determination I have made it up and down those 🤬stairs🙂

    the stairs helped a lot, i have a broken and dislocated toe to it’s really hard to walk, so i have to crawl up stairs. i didn’t know that’s how you used crutches to get up stairs

    Thank you for showing how to navigate stairs. I broke my foot yesterday, and I've been scooting down the stairs on my butt then standing up. LOL. Going up the stairs on crutches seems to be a little easier for me, but going down them is scary. I'm going to try using my crutches to go down the stairs as soon as I have someone at the house with me to help me out.

    This is hard man. I’m a fire fighter I got hurt on the job, floor collapsed. I don’t have a car and honestly it doesn’t feel like anyone is really there to help me out. I love working out too but the gym is a mile away.(I was riding my bike there before.) thanks for the help, never had to use crutches but I’m figuring it out.

      I totally understand being independent to needing a extra hand. My car was totaled during the injury I have. It Sucks but hopefully it will get better with time.

    Just fractured my fibula last night and hopping around in crutches hurt so much because it’s moving the bones in my leg 🥲 will need to practice some more, but for now I’ve just been wheeling around my apartment with my office chair 😭 I don’t look forward going back to work after my one week medical leave because I work in the 2nd floor. Oof!

    Fell down the stairs when carrying a box. I was the one backpedaling nicely then the obox was pushed onto me by the guy on top of the stairs and I fell. Sprained my ankle during the fall.

    Nice to know you can use crutches to go up and down but not worth the risk one bit. Sitting down is the only safe way.

      Yes it's risky, but it's faster... very scary at first but once you get used to it it'll somewhat feel like going up stairs normally. I been using crutches for two weeks now

    Took a chunk out of my heel and can't move my foot without making myself bleed so my crutches are coming in the mail tomorrow. Gonna have to just let myself bleed tonight for the royals game

    If you have the crutches both in the same hand you should make one crossing the other that way you’re holding onto the metal bar and the padding on the other one and it’s not as wide for your hand if you hold both pads at the same time it’s kind of wide and it’s not how you’re supposed to do it

    Anyone any tips where a legs needs to be kept straight post kneecap dislocation, I feel like keeping my bad leg out in front means the muscles are constantly tense and sometimes hurts the knee

      I advice to practice extreme cautions, I had two surgeries on my knees. And I don't wish this experience for anyone.

    I don't trust the crutches not to slip.
    My arm, hand, & upper body strength do not allow me to do any more than hold my broken ankle off the floor while slide-shuffling the good foot forward.
    I'm supposed to go for a 2-week check-up in 10 days, having to get down 2 steps from my deck to the car .. outside, Canada, November.
    Confidence level -10!

    Had osteoteomy surgery on my knee, I tried to use this technique three days post surgery and I couldn't catch breath at the end of the stair. I barely choked.

    To go up stairs you have to have arms and legs that are strong enough to hop up. I'm 75 and not strong enough.

    It’s so hard…two months non weight bearing after ankle tendon surgery. Fell 5x with crutches. Got an I Walk and now knee surgery so I have to practice for two weeks prior…yikes

    Easier said than done...im so afriad of stairs since i broke my ankle...i sit and scoot down on my butt and come back up on my butt....its very tiring but to me its safer.

    What do you do if the crutches are too tall when going up steps and they’re on the lowest height?

      Hi Cherie - When going up the stairs you want your “good” foot to step up first; then you will lift your body and the crutches together from the lower step. If the crutches are too long as you bring them up to the step, you can swing them out to the side a bit, like she does in the video. Once the crutches are solidly on the step, move your good foot to the next step before you move the crutches again.

      Amazon sells special pads to add to the tops of the crutches and the hand grips. They're not expensive.

    Luckily I have these very easily controllable crutches that make you put force in the armpits, which is 10 times easier than these ones
