That limited time window exclusivity is absolute bullshit and very anti-consumer, especially at the price you have to pay, which to be fair is a good price for the amount of content you get, but still. Can’t even get the original movie legitimately anymore outside of buying the sequel. Fuck off, I’m sorry.

I'm surprised he didn't mention that the original ending for Freddy Vs Jason was gonna end with both still fighting in hell when Pinhead would separate them and ask, "What's all this fighting for?" They just couldn't secure the rights for Pinhead. That would've been a bad ass setup for a sequel.

They had so many things wrong and right going for it. Wrong like basically letting Tom Cruise hijack the movie to make it about him, and announcing a cinematic universe before the first movie even released. Good, in the sense that they had an idea of where they wanted to go, and had some admittedly well set up world building.
Hell, they could have said in a later movie that their little agency was founded by Van Helsing, some other people, and even Rick O'Connell from the original franchise as a way to tie the two together. Throw in Quincy Morris to be their Alucard like, top agent, basement vampire, and BOOM! A step in the right direction.

When making a cinematic universe, the first film needs to stand on its own. With the exeption of the Nick Fury end credits scene, Iron Man doesn't show tons of Marvel references at you. This allows the film to focus on the aspects that make good stories.
Contrast this with the Mummy (2017). That film threw Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Jackel and Hyde, ECT at you. This made the film to unfocused.

I'd easily say it's the 3rd best in the series, right behind the original and Dream Warriors. Freddy's redesign definitely made him more menacing, and the meta nature of the film works shockingly well. I definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.
Also, F v J is the movie that got me into horror. As a young boy who'd seen nothing but paranormal ghost movies, F v J showed me not every horror movie needed to be dark and pessimistic, that they could be fun and indulgent. The film ended with Freddy and Jason fighting in a boxing ring in hell and escaping.

This is a movie that holds a special place for me. I was never in to horror films (outside the Alien and Predator films) but I went to see this in the theater because, hey, its Freddy and Jason, thats a big deal. This movie taught me what 'camp' was and I learned how to enjoy cheesey films. I remember really disliking the film as I was watching it, but stuck it out. But the moment when Jason and Freddy first throw down and Freddy is tossing Jason around the boiler room like a pinball (complete with sounds) and Robert Englund says "Tilt" I had a revealation: I'm SUPPOSED to laugh at this. From there on I was loving the movie and it allowed me to watch all manner of horror films since.

I love this movie. Saw it on opening night and to this day it was the best theater experience I've ever had. Is it a good movie? Of course not, but holy shit was it fun.
From what I read in Crystal Lake Memories, Hodder was contacted but they weren't willing to offer him much for the role and after some brief negotiation they went ahead without telling him they'd chosen someone else. On one hand it really sucked to see him get shafted like that but on the other hand their budget was razor thin, they had 32 million and 6 million of that had already been spent on a decade of script treatments. New Line is extremely strict about budgets so they didn't have a penny more to spend. They did what they had to do to get this movie made. In a perfect world New Line would have not sucked and ponied up the extra cash but I think Ken did a good job and F13 fans are a little hard on him.

The kills are running enough some of the gorier Jason kills in the series considering how censored the kills in the actual Friday films eventually became due to the MPAA. I always liked Ted and C.J. more than Kane as Jason anyway, but the point here is that part of the charm of the character is that there's always a new take that fits the story of the respective film. Fun Fact: Capcom's 1994 Alien vs. Predator arcade game was suppose to be a tie-in game for the AVP movie, being based on one of the older screenplays for the movie but because we didn't get the movie then, we just got an awesome AVP arcade game that's (in my opinion) FAR superior to the movie. I saw it in a drive-in and the rave party had so many deaths, the kid trying to escape on the scooter which got grabbed by Jason who is finally drugged and put in the van. DVD release the party is cut back to the beginning with unfinished special effects like a raver getting slashed across the chest next to the beer keg, writhing and then suddenly the blood got edited back in and then it smash cuts to Jason unconscious in the van. Minutes of footage never seen again. I'd love to know if anyone can get their hands on the actual theater reels to see if it still exists.

They had still cut the part of Jason nearly taking out the kid on the scooter and probably easily a half a dozen or more ravers getting chopped. You can still see the unfinished effects at the 2:00 min mark. and then the smash cut to the van driving away when the last time they were seen they were still running and screaming.
