- One of the questions I get asked the most is "what do you do for living?" I thought it might be helpful to share my journey towards financial independence and how I'm able to live in one of the most expensive states without working a traditional 9-5 job. I hope you enjoy.
EDIT I just noticed that the music is too loud! I will pay more attention in the future videos :)

Getting money is an issue that everyone needs in order to live a better and luxurious life. Life was difficult for me until i began trading, and I'm now earning a lot of money even with the current crash happening in the trading market. I still make gains using a better strategies....

The thing to learn from this is have a stable family structure. Chose your mate wisely.
Gold! The wrong mate can ruin even the most diligent and their nest egg!
Would anyone say there's at the least, some margin of luck finding that right mate?
Like most guys...the man pulled the card to support her..
The women's are no victims. They are naturally capitalist. Naturally afraid. And they forgot who made their life save, who build their house, who cared for them. They forgot and they change their partners according to their needs.
@@4homemailagree, well at least not one worthy of the parent meet? We're all out and about to hopefully find someone to ultimately smash and not do the walk of shame😵🙈
My father always told me, “put half of your paycheck away” - it can be invested, however it’s that mentality of not spending it that will give you freedom.
Wise words 👏
I absolutely agree! Only once I entered my late 20s did I realize that I didn’t need to spend every penny I made each week. This has set the tone for my future saving goals
@@melaniegroah6736 what household income are people making at their jobs that allow them to make above their total aggregate living expenses? Honest question.
not the freedom you have on the beach in Vanuatu sucker. 😆
I admire your vulnerability and honesty. Sharing a personal financial story is always going to generate criticism, especially from people who wish they had the same lifestyle. What people don't appreciate are the decisions and sacrifices that brought you here. Bravo to you (and your husband) for all your successes.
You're so kind for saying that. Thanks for seeing it that way. I couldn't cover all the details but I'm happy to share :)
vulnerability ?? what are you talking about ?
@@nonrepublicrat I can't speak for Angela but I agreed with her comment about vulnerability in this video because of what she said in her next sentence.
Vulnerability: the quality or state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally.
As Angela said, "Sharing a personal financial story is always going to generate criticism, especially from people who wish they had the same lifestyle."
I hope that explains the use of that word for you.
I agree with this because I'm in the same situation I work for my husband's business and I had a lot of health issues and I had to quit working but I'm very grateful that I'm able to do other things now and slow down my current living situation so I can enjoy each and every day but I'm still pulling other sources of income in myself. You're never going to make everyone happy because there's always people out there that don't want to work hard or that are jealous of what you may have so I totally understand because I deal with this myself because we rent out a beautiful beachfront condo in Florida and there are a lot of haters at times because they're jealous that they had the same thing but yet they're not willing to do the work so keep doing what you're doing I think it's wonderful and as long as you're happy that's all that matters
She is anything but vulnerable lol 😂 case in point: she made the decision which most of you didn’t or couldn’t.
Why is your voice so calming?.......I feel so much better, like I had a therapy session! Thank you
Thank you so much :)
@@MalamaLife I was thinking the same thing. Another source of income - voice over work.
Because she has no anger.
Same here 🤗
She married a HVM so she can be calm and make money simply for the fun of it.
Mind you, I credit her husband for choosing a woman who doesn't waste money...
[she's like the Proverbs 31 woman, where the man brings in the base of the money and the wife doesn't waste her free time or his resources]
What a beautiful life goal. To be able to take care of my parents. Sounds like you two had really good parents. And your parents had really good kids. Kinda a rare today that both people in a couple have good parents. Inspiring.
We really won the parent lottery 🥰 really grateful for it. Thank you so much
most Asians have that as a life goal, as per culture or the way they were raised. some Americans tend to pickup this trend in newer generations , as shown here.
It's the norm in our part of the world
Love u
I also wanna take care of my parents ❤ They have given me so much ... especially love. I feel link I'm becoming their "parent" as time goes by 🥰. People are the gratest value
It is important to have the person next to you on the same page as you are so they can understand and support and invest together in what you want to do.
And stays on the "same page"....
I wish I have this luxury.
I'm slowly going through watching your videos on little work breaks and I adore every single one of them. Usually looking at the internet on breaks is too stimulating, but your content is so calming, I love it.
Im so glad to hear creating videos takes you a long time - me too!! I always see people just fly through it and I'm like how?? Love your cinematic movements, your footage is beautiful.

@@yme3267 what is your problem? I know so many instances where it is the opposite and women take on the financial burden instead of their husbands. My own parents are an example of that. Take your negativity and close minded self somewhere else.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. Since I choose to be a freelancer, I sometimes doubt about whether I make a right choice. In fact, being a freelancer is even more challenging than being a full-time employee, since it requires higher competency to balance and manage time well, restrain greediness and plan our future lives more independently. I really enjoyed your video and it guided me to live my life in a positive manner. Your experience with minimalism has helped me to make better decisions for the future.

The super judgemental people around here - you don’t have to be so rude to people you don’t know... if you don’t like someone’s content, you can simply unsubscribe and ride your way out on your high moral horse. If her husband had supported her at any point, there is nothing wrong with that. As a family we are meant to support each other while we are building something together. Also, support is not always monetary. A man or a woman taking care of home or children, while their spouse is working - is also a part of “support” in the relationship. Ultimately, it’s for the couple to decide what their dynamic is, and not yours or mine.
Thanks so much for supporting me 🙏 that's so kind of you to write this comment. I think people wanted me to say that I made it on my own, but that is not the truth. Ahhh i love you and your page so so glad to have found it! Love that you’re so natural, honest, minimalistic, introvert, creative and into property and house hacking… as well as representing Asian women. I can relate to you in so many ways 😻
The first part, being able to buy your own property in your mid 20s seems so, so far from my reality and it's a huge roadblock though... after finishing university I could land my first real job (which wasn't that great to be honest) around age 28, and then 10 years after that, I am still paying my student loan and renting the place we live in. Not that I am hating on the video, but both my wife and I come from backgrounds where making enough money to even get your own place is a feat in itself, and it demands working a crazy amount of hours D:
Yah......some people have really good luck / timing while other's have it no luck or timing on their side. As long as are alive and have our health, with a steady paying job......life is good my friend....Godspeed.

I'm very glad I found your channel. This is the kind of life I want to live. I'm an aspirating writer/poet, and I often find it hard to ground myself and believe that I can achieve my goal of being full-time writer (with our societies expectations). This is a really helpful video, I think you make a good point about common advice being to save and invest, without the specificity to know what that looks like in a practical sense. It's clear that you've worked really hard (and smart) to get to this point so kudos to you! I hadn't heard the term "house hacking" before, though I was aware of the concept, so I'll definitely be looking into this more. Thanks for your honesty and transparency 💛🌿🤗
Thanks so much Kat :) I always appreciate your support. House hacking is common because Hawaii is so expensive to live unfortunately :( many locals rent out a spare bedroom or convert their garage into a studio. It's just my husband and me, so we actually love that we can have a little community on our property.
Great video. I'm glad you're able to have this life. It is alot of work. If I could go back to being 30 again, I'd be doing the same thing. I've encouraged my kids to find jobs that they truly enjoy and not do just to make money and be in a toxic environment. I love your videos because you're practical and make sense to me. Have a great day!
Thanks for sharing the details on personal finance. It was one of my major considerations when I started dreaming a free life two decades ago. It's helpful to hear from a like-minded person!
I'm so inspired by your way of living ❤
Going into my second year of college it’s really refreshing to hear a perspective like yours. THIS is how I want my life to look. I’ll definitely carry your advice with me- it’s a great reminder that I have the freedom to design my own life, rather than following the 9-5 structure. References to your husbands income are missing the entire point of the video!! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I agree…
There are plenty of couples with two incomes and that doesn’t mean they are living in a manner similar to this. Sometimes two incomes actually causes some to increase debt or feel they need to.
I appreciate her sharing things she did not have to share, to help enlighten some of us that there are many definitions and roads to “success”.
Thankyou for sharing so honestly. You make it all look so easy but it is clear that you have worked hard for what you have and I have nothing but admiration for that. You have chosen and created a beautiful lifestyle. It's really inspiring.

Respect for coming out with your information like this and inspiring people. Love your videos. Sending love and blessings!
Some people need to stop focusing on how fortunately she started out, or how "well" she married. First off she is someone who genuienly appreciates life, and is making the simplest out of it instead of being spoiled. This video does not teach you how to get to where she is, but simply sharing her journey and how she took on her blessing or tackled her struggles. Sure she is a very, very lucky woman but if you were given the same, would you be humble and grateful like her or be all bling bling and cha ching? It takes the person for this lifestyle, not the circumstances
Your videos really inspire me! I am on a similar path and it is remarkable how much you can achieve of it if you simply dedicate time to it, give it some thought and the time that is necessary to make it all happen. I feel like we are always obligated to say how challenging something is in order to relate to people and make them feel like what they're doing is good enough - that life is just tough. To be honest, that is very true, but there is also another truth - that by taking the steps towards something, you're already on your way to achieving it. The better the steps you take, the more planned and the more genuine, with focus and effort that you place towards it, the more likely you'll actually be able to achieve it. Thank you for making effort and not complaining - for doing something and making your life something that you truly want to live.

Thank you so much Tom. I appreciate you watching :)
You really are awesome Malama, I just love the way you narrate your stories in easy to understand pace. I would request you to do more videos on personal development bcoz at this time of pandemic I believe we all need more of motivation from real life scenarios
Specifically what I like about your videos is the mild music in the background which really smoothen my mind. I just love the calmness in conveying your message to audience. Thats key to attract people and distract them from hustles and bustles of their mechanic life
This is very inspiring. I've been thinking about leaving my 60 hour week security job, because it doesn't make me happy. I find it takes up a lot of my time, and energy.
I hope you find something else that fits you better! I'm sure it's out there
I have been there!
The moral of the story is marry wisely lol
Having a good partner is carrying half the weight.
@Hope King Amen sister ! As an Asian woman or any woman, just marry a rich jewish guy and you are set
Marry a rich guy.
@@adamdob653 Yep, that's ticket! Marry a bank and you're all set :)
How these below commented people become such rude, how pity you guys are
Thank you for your sharing that encourages me to focus on my income saving so that I can early retire and switch to my dream job one day 💖
Wish you happiness and peace in your life 🌸🍀
I'm subscribed to your channel and been listening since. Really inspiring. Reaching your stage takes time. Leaving the 9 to 5 job is my goal. My spouse and I are still working towards it. Once we have the foundation completely built and running, it will worth every minute we worked on it.
Thank you so much! I couldn't have left my 9-5 without the rental income. I'm wishing you the best 👍
I'm loving your videos. I just found your channel yesterday and am already starting to binge watch. I've had some things to work through in order to bring down the amount of belongings I own. Long-standing conditioning of lack and fear have made it hard to let things go and I've even created manifestations where I suddenly will need something I've finally let go of after YEARS of not using it. But I recognize the pattern of that, and I'm manifesting this outcome myself...born out of that conditioned fear of not having enough and having to hold onto things. But I've also been choking on it all....everything clogged up and stagnant. I'm shifting this unconscious energy so I can let go of more things without suddenly needing them afterward. Thank you for your amazing content and this video is great too, even though it wasn't specifically about minimalism and I'm commenting on that theme. LOL.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and your position! My husband and I are on our journey to financial independence and we really want to house hack. The market is crazy right now but we are looking everyday online to see if the right place comes along at the right price.
The marketing is absolutely insane! But things always turn back around. Wishing you and your husband the best! House hacking has been the best decision we have made 🥰👍
