Mujica's ideas are common sense, as simple and charming as that. The question is how really insane is the system we are living in and how it brainwashes people to live in a wrong way which is making a huge impact on a planetary scale with awful consequences for our descendants. I think it is so insane that makes look the simple common sense as a new revelation. Long live Mujica!!

They lost the war. Went to jail. After years in jail, and in a full democràtic sistem , and in a complete democràtic election , his party won.
They won ,thanks to the democràtic sistem that ,him and his "compañeros " never wanted for Uruguay! !!! Funny isn't ? And because of the Tupamaros, there was a dictatorship from 1974 until 1985, 11 years.
Yes, he donated part of his wages , and they lived like poor people, with his wife, also a Tupamara ! And they left twice as many poor people in more asentamientos! !!!! after 15 years . And a huge debt that this new government is trying to pay and making big sacrifices .My friend ,not everything that shines ,is gold ?
They never created new jobs ,investment, they went for the " social " thing. Well , social politic, needs lots of money, tu pay, " social wages ". And also created thousands of goverment jobs !! Were is the money to pay them ?. Of course, they created a lot of votes for the next eleccion !!!!

But the strange part is that the common decency is seldom acted upon, this is what makes him special. He not only says, but does. The depressing fact is that this man is a hero for the sole reason that all controversies surrounding his deed concerns the content of his politics: he does as he preaches. Whereas other presidents and politicians preach what is common sense and decent (most often), yet proposes and in practice pushes legislation contrary to their official views. As such we ask ourselves how aggression counts as defending freedom, in the case of US wars, and how funding terrorism helps democracy etc.etc., and we feel compelled to either disbelieve that these politics occur, or believe that they are part of a conspiracy and whatnot. This man is a hero for allowing genuine political disputes revolving around political content. That this is heroic - that this is uncommon - is our times greatest tragedy!
