- Crochet this gorgeous chunky daisy granny square blanket and add a touch of coziness and warmth to your home! The granny squares work up quickly using bulky level 5 yarn, and you can choose any color combination you want!
In this video tutorial, I demonstrate how to crochet all 5 rounds of the daisy granny square! I also show some clips on how I whip stitch the granny squares together and work the slip stitch border.
The free crochet pattern can be found on my blog here (link to kit available too): www.allaboutami.com/cozy-days...
Yarn used: Hue + Me (Agave, Salt, Mustard)

Thank you
Very helpful thanks!
How many do you have to make??
Awwwee, THANK YOU SO MUCH! You are a kind 😇 Angel!
I crocheted when i was young, my grandma used to make mittens for everyone in the winter, and i eventually started helping. I havent crocheted in almost 13 years, and I'm excited to get started on this and create this beautiful boanket
That’s so special how you used to crochet when you were young and that your grandma used to make mittens for everyone! I hope you enjoy getting back into crochet again and making your daisy blanket!
This is litterally the BEST tutorial i've seen because you don't talk half an hour for just one step
btw th blanket looks soo cool!
Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback about my tutorial! I really appreciate it 🥰 So glad you like the blanket!
Real because I looked up other tutorials on how to do a daisy granny square and they weren’t using the proper terms and it was so confusing
Some of us need it to go slower. Is there anyway to slow the video down?

Hi im Sara and I'm 11 my grandma used to crochet but she left this world so my grandma made a blanket just like this so I'm trying to make one thank you so much for this amazing tutorial 💗 this was very helpful and healing for my grandma 👵 end
Hi Sara! Thank you for writing your comment and sharing about your grandma ❤️ That is so special how you’re trying to make a blanket too! You’re very welcome 🥰 Enjoy the process!

Just got my kit today! Going to surprise my mom who has no idea I can crochet with this blanket! I’m excited
Ooh how exciting that you received your kit! Your mom is going to be delighted and so surprised 🥰
This will be my first attempt at a blanket or granny squares. In the past all I've made is amigurumi animals. So excited to give this a try when my kit arrives!
That’s so exciting how this will be your first attempt at a blanket and granny squares! And that’s wonderful how you’ve made amigurumi in the past! Enjoy crocheting your blanket with your kit arrives! Which colors did you choose?
@@AllAboutAmiBlog Thank you! ♥I went with Sea Glass, Salt, and Mustard. All the yarns were so pretty it was difficult to choose!
same!!
Where can i buy the kit though?
How many total squares did u make!
I think it’s so cool to see people and how they started or what their experience is. I love seeing people who grew up crocheting or were taught and then the groups who taught themselves. The people who started with blankets and hats and sweaters and then people who started with stuffed animals and toys! It’s so interesting to me because to me anyone with a hook and some yarn and ends up with a completed piece is super talented bc crocheting is not easy sometimes. I learned about 2-4 years ago just by watching some CZcams videos. The first thing I ever made was this TERRIBLE and small looking blanket for my grandma which I now own now that she has passed. I was so proud yet embarrassed but she loved it and used it all the time. Now I am trying to add to it so that I can use it myself and enjoy the piece that started my passion for crochet and was a prized possession by a dear loved one. I always struggled with stuffed animals and things like that but have made granny square sweaters and hats and blankets and pillows for people- patterns and sometimes no pattern at all! I love the crochet community out there and how supportive we are. To all those out there watching this- happy crocheting!!!
Aww thank you so much for sharing your heartfelt message ❤️ I love hearing about how people started their crochet journeys too and what projects they began with. The crochet community is awesome and there is always so much to learn and new projects and techniques to try! 🧶 Happy crocheting!
I cannot wait to work this blanket!!!! Thank you so much for this beautiful pattern !
I’m so glad you’re excited! Enjoy crocheting your daisy blanket!
This pattern just makes me smile! Daisies are my jam 🌼😍
Thank you so much! That’s wonderful how you love daisies!
I got my Lion Brand kit for the exact same colors today and officially finished my first granny square for this pattern. I always wanted to make myself a blanket, but knitting a whole one seemed too much. I love the idea of crocheting a granny square, but didn't like the majority of styles. Yours is just right and beginner friendly with this video. Thank you!
Hi Marjorie! That’s so exciting how you received your kit today - glad you like the original colors! Great job making your first granny square 🌼 Thanks for your kind feedback about the video - I’m glad you found it helpful! Oh I love this so much .I'm going to try again but I really struggle with crochet and our UK stitches are different from your American stitches

@AllAboutAmi ive decided to use 8ply acrylic wool. It's what i have at home atm. Im loving the new challenge & creating this pretty daisy pattern. Finding 5 rows, though, is only small granny squares compared to yours. What would you suggest to enlarge the square a bit more ? 🤔
also, is there any chance you could show how to end a row so it doesn't unfastened before starting another row and how to clean up the wool tags ❤ when the rug is finished. Plus, which is the front & back of the rug xx 😉 ❤🙏
I love granny squares; there is so many beautiful ones to choose from. When I saw Stephanie showing her blanket on the Lion Brand site I knew I to HAD make it. I’m current,y giving myself a challenge, to make this beautiful blanket. I’ve already blown through 36 squares, and I’m proud to announce that I’ve learned to block my pieces!
You inspire me so much!

I am not new to crochet but new to the magic circle idea. I’d love to see a tutorial on the magic ring and slowed down. I’m a visual person and I think it’s the only part I’m constantly pulling out and redoing.
I have a separate video just for the magic circle that you can check out! Here on CZcams it’s called “How to crochet the magic circle with regular & fluffy yarn”. You can also adjust the playback speed to 0.5x to slow the videos down!
I had smaller yarn and hook because I didn't have a kit. I wanted the granny squares to be bigger so instead of sc i did dc. instead of hdc i did htc. etc. The squares worked out great and I love this tutorial. Thank you!

I know it’s a bit late to ask but how many balls of whool of each color do you need in total for the whole blanket? 🌸
You need 11 skeins of yarn in total: 7 main color, 3 petal color and 1 centre color 🧶
@@AllAboutAmiBlog Thank you so much 🤗🫶
@@AllAboutAmiBlog tip… Be careful how much you cut off the center for each center because I wasn’t careful and I ended up getting 41 centers when I needed 42. I was short about a half of one center lol I know better for next time. Then of course the die lot was different 🤪😊

Round 1: 0:12
Round 2: 0:27
Round 3 0:45
Round 4 1:54
Round 5 4:04

I’ve been told that “Salt” (one of the colors in the kit) will restock in mid-July 🧶 Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoy this granny square project once you start working on it!
Thank you for this beautiful pattern and tutorial! I bought the pattern from your Etsy, but I just had a quick question. When you say to slip stitch into the first single crochet to close round 2, does this mean the first single crochet stitch ever (like from round 1) or the first single crochet stitch from round 2? Like other commenters, I’ve been ending up with an extra stitch and it’s noticeable when I do the clusters in round 3 ☹️ I’m a beginner, so I apologize if this is a silly question, but I appreciate any insight you can offer!
You’re very welcome! Thank you for your kind words! To close round 2, you will slip stitch to the first single crochet that you made in round 2. This slip stitch “overtakes” the single crochet from below. Thus, when it is time to work the petals in each of the 12 stitches from Round 2, you actually work the petal in that slip stitch (and not the single crochet below it)! This should make it cleaner so that you don’t have that extra gap!
This would make a lovely gift. Thank you.
I agree! You’re very welcome 💖
i dont know why but if i have this Cozy Days Daisy Blanket my life will be good and ill make it
Aww enjoy making the blanket 🌼🩷
@@AllAboutAmiBlogthanks you are a great teacher 💕
May I ask: how many squares did u do and how big did your blanket ended? Thank you for this easy and beautiful tutorial! 🤍
You’re very welcome! I used 42 granny squares in total and the final dimensions were: 45”/114 cm x 52”/132 cm!
Thank you to you both I was looking for this comment!
@@AllAboutAmiBlogthank you from me too. Cant wait to make this beautiful blanket
That was lovely but omg PLEASE explain a little slower!!!
Thank you for your kind words 💕 You can slow down the video by clicking “Settings” and “Adjust Playback Speed” to 0.5x or 0.25x!
@@AllAboutAmiBlogFrankly, I feel it’s insulting to ask to slow the video down. Have you tried it? Never mind that listening for so long to slowed down sound gives you a stomachache . Your fingers are in the way of your work. If you’re following from a smartphone even zooming in the image is tiny and when you pause/play the play/pause button overlaps your work, which makes it really hard to follow. I spent two days following ALL of your daisy square videos to try and figure out the daisy here in the blanket because this video here I’m commenting under - to me - is impossible to follow because you skip way too many steps. I was quite happy with my daisy square result following your daisy bag video which - again, to me - is the most discernible one only to find out that that daisy square background is not the same as the blanket’s! TBH, at this particular moment I’m feeling quite furious since I purchased your pattern for this blanket from your website and between the tiny photos you feature on your .pdf pattern and the - pardon, me - poor instructions enclosed plus the Lion wool I purchased for it shipped all the way from the US, which I did happily and looking forward to the result and which also didn’t come cheap, I’m not a happy bunny! I forgot to mention the ads that come up on your videos whilst playing back at .25 speed to interrupt the amount of concentration needed to get some results. My feedback to you is, if you want to showcase your talent, showcase. If you want to teach, teach. In this situation you can’t proverbially ‘kill’ the two birds with one stone. Things done by halves are never done right. I shall appreciate if you would kindly provide me with clear instructions on how to complete this project. I shall like to complete it. Firstly because for me, money doesn’t grow on trees, secondly because I wouldn’t have invested in this project both monetarily and with my time, which nobody is ever going to give back to me, if I didn’t like it. If your .pdf were comprehensive, I wouldn’t need your free of charge CZcams videos. You told me too, in another comment, to slow the video down. What should I do with the print out of your pattern to make it clearer, any suggestions? Seriously, it’s insulting to be told to slow your videos down so that you can monetize your CZcams videos because tutorials get more views than anyone showcasing their work. PLS, I shall appreciate if you would amend this situation. Kind Regards.
@@Alex_and_Imoney doesn’t grow on trees?? her pattern is like $5 you’re acting like she stole your car LOL. just go find another creator to follow if you hate these instructions so much. there are other daisy blanket patterns on YT that you can use your materials for. remember crocheting is supposed to be fun
@@Alex_and_IIf you can’t follow a pattern as simple as a granny square blanket in video and in paper, I suggest you get more familiar with basics stitches. Try simpler things. Making a blanket can be very labor intensive and costly. Don’t let your frustration with this project stop you from creating more simple, but beautiful projects.
@@Ahmlu I feel that’s a little bit presumptuous of you to say! What would you know about what I can or can’t do? If I were you I’d read my comment again.

So I’m making this blanket with my own yarn and I instead used a 5.00 mm hook and yarn of a size 4 thinness does anyone know how many granny squares I would have have to make?? 😭 so far I have 56
You can take a look at the finished dimensions of my blanket in the pattern (free on my blog)! Using those dimensions, you can calculate how many squares you would need based on how big your own squares are!
Hi! I'm quite new to crocheting and I really wanted to try this pattern out, I think as a beginner it would really help if you went a little bit slower! Other than that this is a really beautify design and I really appreciate your work! Keep up the good work!!
Thanks so much for your kind encouragement - I appreciate it 🥰 If you click “Settings”, you can adjust the playback speed to 0.5x or even slower to slow down the video!
The play back is better but still needs more description as you can't see what yours pulling through very easily. I'm really struggling to understand what goes where even on the slow speed

You’re very welcome! That’s so exciting his you ordered all the yarn - which colors did you choose?
@@AllAboutAmiBlog I chose the same as yours. It’s perfect for my bedroom!
How much yarn did you buy?
@@kristincarrick8155 I bought one for the centres, 3 for the petals and 7 for the main part
Did that end up being enough? Or did you need more? I want to place an order too @@scottishlasssuze
I am losing my mind trying to do this, even bought the pattern from your Etsy. After crocheting 12 single crochets into the magic circle, we add the slip stitch into the first one, which makes us end up with 13 stitches as a whole. Then in the next round I end up with 14 single crochets into these stitches and add ANOTHER through the connection with the slip stitch. What am I doing wrong? 😭
Hi Sophia! After working 12 single crochets in the Magic Circle, you have 12 stitches - the slip stitch to the first single crochet does not count as a stitch since you're using it to close up the round. To begin Round 2, you chain 1 and then work 1 single crochet in the SAME st (where you slip stitched to close round). Thus, your number of stitches remains the same since you continue having 12 stitches! When it's time to close up Round 2, be sure to slip stitch to the FIRST SC, not the slip stitch or the chain 1!
As a beginner I had the same issue.. this is what helped me…
In round 1 Mark your first single crochet loop with a marker… count exactly 12 single crochets for round two… it’s going to look like your skipping loop # “13(the chain stitch)” and go straight into the loop with your marker to chain stitch closed… ☺️ hope this helps
Fun video, thank you. I made my 1st square using the same pretty colors you chose for the square in this tutorial.❤
@allaboutami and lovely a: thank you both so much! I will work on my next blanket granny square tomorrow probably. Will open this comment section again for that and tackle it! I love the crochet community 💜
might be a different type of granny square we are talking about but I followed a different tutorial for pretty much the same concept, and instead of the magic circle I started with chaining five and doing the tiny chain into a circle, then chain 3, then I do 15 double crochets, join with a slip stitch, then chain three, then I do a puff stitch in every stitch from previous row starting from the current stitch, we got 16 puffs as a result. The rest should be straight forward just counting how many of the other kinds of stitches you can fit in
How many granny squares do you need to make to do this blanket?
You need 42 granny squares to complete this blanket 🥰
@@AllAboutAmiBlog Ok thank you!

Thank you very much for this tutorial, it was my first time trying granny squares and you made it so easy to me learning it. It worked at my first attempt! :D
Oh wow I’m so happy to hear that 🥰 You’re very welcome! I’m so glad you found this helpful! Great job making your first granny square!
I can’t follow : the instructions are not clear enough for a beginner. To start with, what is a magic ring? It is way too fast. Please do again much more slowly. I would love to make this but feel like crying.
You can find my separate video for the magic ring! And to slow down the entire video, you can click “Settings” and “adjust playback speed” to 0.5x or 0.25x 🧶
This is my first ever crochet project but imo it was perfect to follow 🤷♀️
This video isn't targeted toward beginners. She doesn't explain what anything is. Not just magic ring; she doesn't explain what a chain stitch is, or a single crochet, or a double crochet, or a yarn over, a chain 3 space, or anything else, because it is a tutorial for people who already know how to crochet. It's not a beginner tutorial that explains what each thing is. It's a video demonstrating the completion of a crochet pattern. If you want to learn how to do each of the individual components, you'd have to look them up separately.
Before starting this project (which is my first one), I looked up how to do the stitches and basic knowledge of crochet with other videos. You just need very basic, but some previous knowledge to do this is necessary :)
She never targeted, not even in the title, the video towards beginners. So maybe you should tone down your comment, since it isn’t her fault you don’t know the basics to do this project from the get go. Perhaps you’d find it easier to first learn the basics from other tutorials/videos, work your way up the difficulty levels, work on other, more beginner friendly projects first, and then circle back to this one. Not every creator needs to edit their content to cater to everyone, beginner or expert. They’re free to post the way they’re more comfortable posting, it is her channel after all and as a not total beginner, but definitely not an expert, i found her video totally fine, if I’m ever in doubt about something i’ll just do a quick research on the side and that’s it.
BRO IS GOING SO FAST LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW LIKE GIRL TAKE A CHILL PILL IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER I DONT RECOMMEND THIS VIDEO
Put it on half speed and it’s fine
and the video instructions do not match the written instructions 🙃
You can click “settings” and “adjust playback speed” to 0.5x or 0.25x to slow it down!
Chill...a free pattern is a free pattern! This video is complimentary too, not mandatory, sheeeesh
It’s not meant to teach a beginner how to do stitches or how to crochet. It’s meant to teach someone how to make this blanket and knows the basics
