Looking at Madrid's defensive masterclass against City, I firmly believe that if they were the ones facing PSG with 10 men, but a 2 goal lead at home, they would somehow still manage to pull through and qualify for the next round. We need an actually good manager for that to happen. Not one that acts like a 13 year old in front of 50K fans.
They still had multiple ballwinners in midfield, we had gündogan and two out of form players that just came back from injury and are barely capable of defending well anyways. Anyone who says that we lost this game bc of mentality is absolutely braindead, we nearly got one back after the 3-1, don’t see how this is possible without the desire to win. Madrid just defends better, has nothing to do with mentality.
As much as I love Araujo and this team, I completely agree with what Gundo said after the game and I think Araujo shouldn’t take it personally and bounce back from that 💪🏻

As a Madridista I respect Barcelona but its a shame to see what they have become. Barcelona does not have that mental toughness that they used to have under the likes of Puyol, Mascherano, Messi and others. Araujo was chosen as 1 of the 4 players to wear that Captain band and this is how he treats a veteran? The main difference between Real Madrid and Barcelona, is that Madrid is focused on keeping certain veterans in order for them play but also for them to fullfil a teacher's role and the players are able to grow under them and experience that winning mentality. Gundogan should get more respect for the achievments throughout his career and purely his will to win. Araujo looks like he wants to give everything for the club yet he's still a snowflake who can't take criticism like a man. Look at Vini for example. Benzema criticized him and not long after Vini went on a tv show and told the world that Benz always had a great affection for him and that he always tried to help him. When that happened, Benz came to him a day later to talk with him. Vini said that he never took it in a negative way since Benz did everything for him on the field. He always advised him to do the right things and Vini said that there was no reason for him to be sad about it. That being confronted was good (for his personal growth). This is how a player should deal with criticism. Vini and Benz became one of the most fearsome duo's in Europe after that, winning the UCL and knocking out giants from Europe whilst also dropping masterclass performances against us. When you get criticism from the most experienced players, you listen and improve your game. Vini felt that he deserved the criticism at the time, why can't Araujo feel the same when Gundogan is so obviously right. Araujo is the 3rd or 4th Captain then act like it. We need you guys to fix things over there. I need to see Barca destroy these oil clubs, cmon don't let us down next year.

The season is not exactly over though. Madrid are focused on la liga and UCL. Like Jamie said if we win this, and then if Madrid lose and draw any of their following games we can win the league on head to head if we manage to win every other game.

To your comment- I think Real Madrid dragged city to ET and won the game. As much as I hate Real, that day they showed personality and character. Defending for the entire game shows how passionate they are about Champions league. I’m still gutted with our game with PSG and hard to forget that night.

They eventually dragged them to ET but that was never their true purpose. Madrid actually dominated City on a tactical level, not ball posession wise. No main GK, two main CB with ACL injury, no defensive midfielder and no starting striker yet guys over 30 like Carvajal, Nacho and Rüdiger were the ones keeping Grealish, Foden, Silva and Haaland silent for almost the entire game. City generated 2.7 xG in 33 shots over 120 minutes. RM forced City wide all game and City despite passing the ball a thousand times, did not know how to penetrate into the box. Doku was the only one who truly made the difference and created clear cut chances that were not solely influenced by mistakes from defenders. Even Henry said that City barely had clear cut chances. They were mostly generated from small mistakes by Madrid. I remember Man City parking the bus against Atleti after being up a goal and no one complained. Man City scored the same amount of goals as Real Madrid over both legs. Madrid put up a 90s Italian defensive masterclass. They won the pen shootout because of Rüdiger, Kepa and Lunin, they won on a tactical level. Madrid dominated both legs by scoring early and taking the lead or scoring quick after Man City scored. Man City never led in the tie for more than 10 minutes, over 2 matches. They were constantly chasing the score whilst Madrid when scoring were able to defend their lead for way longer. Madrid were actually better offensively for scoring goals with less chances and defensively for not allowing to be scored against despite City's posession. Having the ball most of the time and playing like clowns with 33 shots resulting in 1 goal sounds worse than old school Italian defending. Only Doku and KDB weren't tapdancing and passing the ball back unlike Grealish but they actually risked losing the ball by creating bigger chances.
Whatever happens we can always count on Barca letting the fans down.

There’s just way too much emphasis on player mentality and not enough recognition of how much tactics and player profile are vastly more critical to team performance than mentality.
We are literally 5years behind real in terms of team building and prepration.
Look how they react when it comes to pressure situations,even when they are trailing,they hold their nerves,they have faith in their skills and prepration and they deliver.
On other hand, by always stating ourselves as the underdogs we tend to kill any fear the opposition would have of us.And when it comes to big games,we panic at the slightest of pressures,our fans,our players even our coach couldn't hold their nerves.
The team needs a change of mentality more than anything and that starts with us.
Own are mistakes,lets stop blaming refrees or fedration or the president.Lets stop the victim mentality or things wont change for us.
I think Hector Fort should play at left back. Opponents target that area as if it's gap in our armor when Joao Cancelo plays, and psg did it successfully.

It was a tough game against psg which neither the fans nor the players got over. It was lost mainly because of araujos red card and xavis lack of experience not saying he’s a bad coach in fact I think he is the best for Barca but a more experienced manager would’ve known how to deal with such a situation. Especially that we were playing on home ground. Now it is time for a araujo to come back be ready to put 1000% of his ability in the game and for the team to drop a masterclass performance to say sorry to themselves and the fans

i cannot understand for the love of football why everyone is saying that madrid produced a defensive masterclass. if you actually watched the game and saw the statistics at the end of the game, you would know that man city totally outplayed them.. and madrid were extremely lucky to win. Playing defensive football in a champion league game doesnt make you a champion, it makes you a coward. If madrid played with balls and gusto, they would have lost outright. As for barca, win , ose or draw.. barca for life. we have to blame inexperience for the loss to psg. Honestly I'm lost for this game. I am seeing a draw, and with that defensive master class Real put on in the UCL, I never knew they had it in them. If they decide to sit deep we are gonna have a warm time.
Real Madrid don't play the best football in Europe, but they win troohies. Do you know why?? They know that in games there are moments they will suffer and moments they will shine. Against City we saw it. There is no problem with defending and hitting the counter and as a a matter of fact its winning trophies for clubs,( Liverpool, Bayern, Real Madrid and more) These teams have won the UCL doing this. Barca should start looking at the bigger picture.

We were doing well against PSG until Araujo’s madness; and yes, he should be called out. Fundogan has earned the right to call him out.
I think Barca has grown character wise. That fragility is fast dissipating and that’s something these predictors are not seeing.
Finally, as we build towards our ideal team in the face of meager resources, I have two issues we must address and they relate to two players that lack character, who cannot keep concentration for 90 mins without costing you a shame as good as they may be with the ball.
1. Frenkie De Jong: Laporta, sell this guy. He’s a luxury we cannot keep and on the balance, he is a liability. Can’t play as a single pivot, can’t attack from the midfield, can’t defend with concentration. I don’t understand what he is doing in Barca at the cost.
2. Joao Cancelo: A brilliant overlapping wing back but clueless in his defensive duties. Guaranteed to lose concentration at least two times in a game. If I were an opposing team, I’ll target him and big teams have always done this successfully. I may not sell him off and I guess we can’t at the moment; so I’ll keep him but I’d be careful how I use him. He is not reliable!
I don't expect a win but i expect attitude from the team. Show the fans that you did your best. We know that we are in a process. Madrid is in a better place now
