- Don't throw away your knit scraps!! When you've finished that skirt, or dress, or shirt, or bag.... keep the scraps! You can turn them into these ADORABLE headbands in just a couple minutes.
I like to cut my fabric strips at 4-5" wide by 20" long, but test out those measurements on yourself and see what you like best!
You'll also need polyester thread, ball point needles, and a safety pin. Washi or masking tape is also helpful when making the hooked version.
Let me know if you have any additional questions when making these!
Time stamps for each step in the first comment!

You are so sweet Jules!
You are sew smart! I have watched oodles of videos on headbands and yours makes more sense and it sew much easier! You are awesome my friend!
Omg this is the BEST tutorial for headbands I’ve ever seen. I’m DEFINITELY going to make some tomorrow
I have the same problem. I have a large head. And my headbands always slide off. I love this idea.
Me too!
Love those head bands are even supper cute fun gifts.. I live in them along with my girls! Great for my niece who plays soccer for a team!
Awww I love hearing the whole family wears them! They really are super comfy.
These are so cute! I have to share this with my daughter, but she'll probably want me to make these for her and her daughters. You look great in headbands but you'd probably look good in anything you put on your head! You could probably shave your head and look good. I have a big round head. Thanks for the video!
You are the NICEST person!! Are you looking to adopt a 34 year old female who is good with dogs and loves to sew? Because I could use more of this positivity in my life! Thank you so much for the kind words, and I hope your daughter and granddaughters love these!
Love the headband, your work is exceptional
What a fun tutorial! Love your great energy as much as your headbands 🌻
Love your videos.
Thank you for the kind words!
Loveeeee your fabric!
I often have bad hair days (because I'm lazy!), and LOVE head bands.
I'm with you Pye!
Love all your fabrics you use
Those are so cute!
Thank you!
Hi my Jess....I know this is a year old, but I was looking for twisted headband tutorial and yours popped up...I brought some headbands from Amazon too a few months ago....thanks as always 😊
"Big head = big brains" is what I always say.
You are so funny. Love watching your tutorials AND all of your energy. I’m going to make some of these for sure. Great idea for a different video for a change. ❤️
What a cute, quick and easy project! Love the fabric you use!! I’m new to sewing and so glad I found your channel. Great ideas! 😉
Thank you Christina!

Sweet headbands!
Right? I love them!
Hahaha we must be related! I too have a huge head and thin hair....lol! I tell people it’s because I have a big brain and need a big skull to hold it and........ all the brain activity burned some hair cells. Lol!
बोहत ही सानदारलगती होआप
I can custom make these in Australia👍
Did you use lycra or woven? These are so cute can't wait to make some of these!
I use lycra for these, since they need some stretch and I'm not adding any sort of elastic to them. Very easy this way!
@@OklaRoots what about the thread breaking? I used a zig zag stitch w 4 length and still it broke w bamboo and cashmere mix. Now I am using my serger and love it. thanks
I use the regular head band that one wears like a crown . If i use a handband with elastic or cloth that is strechable, it slips out of my head. I think the shape of my skull is a problem. The strap suppose to stay above my nape kept on pulling up.
It would be helpful if you provided your head size so we could adjust the proportions for our individual measurements.
Where do I get this stretchy material and what is it called? Thank you I loved the video
I would like to see you make a giant pincushion .
I'll add it to the list!
😊
I have a big head too.. you know I just bought my sewing machine and haven't done any of this i a long time.. I have got to stop watching and start making everything you have shown me now..
Yes! Get to sewing girl! And then send me pictures of what you make.
So when you say 20" long are they 2x10" strips.
If I don't have lycra can I use cotton with elastic?
P.s. Your tutorial for your favorite tote bag was my first sewing project. I watched countless videos until I found yours... I fell in LOVE and have made sew(hahaa) many!! I can't wait to try the headband! Take care!!
That's awesome Leighla! You can definitely give it a shot with cotton and elastic, it may just not have much of a stretch to it. Any sort of fabric with stretch is going to be most comfortable.
This is soneasy and cute!! Where did you get the fabric? I have been looking all overall
Look up Backstitch Fabrics on Facebook. It's a group and they have fabric available every now and then.
How do you get the knit fabric to lay flat?.?
Do you use a stretch stitch?
Where do you answer our questions
I’m sorry I’m so new to sewing but I was wondering what is backstitch fabric?
Hi Tina! Backstitch Fabrics is a fabric design company. They are a group on facebook, with limited fabric purchase dates. They have a lot of beautiful designs that you won't find in stores.
I love your top, do you make your own clothes?
Thank you! No, sadly I'm awful at sewing clothes. This is a jumpsuit from Target :)
I can’t seem to get my Lycra fabric to stop curling😢

Hi, are you using a zigzag stitch on your headbands?
Nope, just a straight stitch.
Love this. I just started making headbands. They’re fun. Facebook: Ellie’s Xpressions
Yes! These headbands are the cutest. I'm planning to change them up a bit for a future video.
@@OklaRoots I'd love your updated tutorial in this!❤
