Oh I can relate my January was a stressful as well. My friend passed away suddenly from a heart attack and my mom was sick in the hospital. Books helped me so much! I read 6 books and hope I can continue that into this month.

My 13 year old daughter reads while we’re grocery shopping. She holds on to me or the cart with one hand and reads with the other. She’s always behind me so she’s not in any one’s way. I don’t know how she does it but I’m not complaining
I'm a very slow reader and always thought I hated books in school until I discovered fantasy fiction! I also love listening to audiobooks - goes way faster and I love how the narrators bring them to life.

I'm 24 and living abroad in Denmark for the last 2.5 years which has been the greatest experience but also the loneliest at times because it's really hard to make friends sometimes. Tonight was one of those nights where I just missed having my close friends right near me and I just had to cry about it. Then I watched this video and it made me feel so much better and brought me a lot of comfort. It reminded me that I can still find joy in things like my books and that my friends are always a phone call away 💝 Thanks for making such a lovely video and I'm rooting for 100K for you!

great reading month for you! I also had a high # of reads for January ( 9 books - 1 DNF ), which is very unusual with working full time! Sorry to hear about your severe weather in January - we too had some significant damage to the whole coast of our state ( Maine ), back to back damaging storms earlier in the month. Your speaking of losing power to your home for 6 days took me back to 1998 when we went thru a significant ice storm ( in January ) and we too had lost power for 2 weeks - my husband and I had to move into my parents home with a 2 1/2 yr old, so we were a bit out of sorts ( and unknown to me I was pregnant with my daughter 🙃 ). hope February is a bit calmer for you - sending good thoughts! I've been in my own season of darkness and loneliness feeling very disconnected. I also live in Portland and moved here cross country away from everyone I knew. My goal is to enjoy more of Portland and to this year maybe begin my own youtube vlog :) I'm also a fellow artist slash solo entrepreneur (I'm a virtual assistant but I'll do anything that pays me not to go back into an office job!). But I also felt so much of what you've shared about finances and that struggle. This has been my past year and some days I don't even know how I can afford to stay here, but also it feels like I can't afford to run off anywhere else.

I love my reading, and make sure I make time to read every day, but it's good advice to give up on what you are reading after 50 pages if it really doesn't interest or move you. Life is too short, and there are so many good books to spend time with!!
after a month of extremely hot summer (think over 100°F), being locked inside my home, feeling very isolated from the world, watching your new video gave back me a feeling of joy for the simple things, reading! going to a café! learning a new thing! wearing colourful items! (your video and the it finally got a bit cooler and it's raining softly and I'm alive again). I can't wait for autumn so I can have my Meg Ryan life back ;) I had no idea about the winter storm in Oregon. We had a summer thunder windy storm in mid december, and it wrecked several cities and homes in my area. It's heartbreaking. I am so glad you were able to find shelter at a friends' house. And very happy you're back making videos! yay! x

I read more books than normal in January too. I am just about to start reading Emily Wilde's Map Of The Otherlands. I loved the first book so much so glad this one holds up as a good sequel to the first one. I always appreciate your honest book reviews.
