Firstly I haven't seen this movie just bits I have seen where it didn't do well at the box office but everything I've read even though there were three top male actors jodie seems to have got good reviews.

"Walt Disney Studios"(?). Really? I think its Scott Free Productions - from Ridley Scott himself.

Its such a shame. This is a beautiful movie and I put off watching it till it was a last chance streaming on HBO, on whim to have something boring going on in the background, and my impression came from the directors privileged, elite boomer-esque temper tantrum. Why should I waste my time on project that is probably a bloated boring consequence of unaware entitlement?
Jodie Comer really did this character justice, and everyone who wasn't a whiny baby, really helped make an excellent piece of work.

She wants to do a musical, why not do Dear Evan Hansen? She'd be the perfect Zoe Murphy!

"(...) and I was a judged and shamed by my country(...)" people, at those times, there's no such thing as a Nation or Country. These are modern terms. There were Dynasties and Counties. Such a wonderful film. Please be a little more accurate. Thank you.

It was in the XIVe century so yes the notion of nation was in birth actually, at least in France

@@mathildehuar2018 I respectfully think that's very doubtful. About a century before this time period (1386, which is the time of the Duel), Simon of Montford had assembled the provisions of Oxford, which allowed the nobles to have a more active position, from where Parliament was born (parle, speak, in french) . This political change has made the Plantagenet King Eduard I to adopt it through is reign. We have to remember that the Plantagenets came from France, and the English language is a result of a mixture between locals and the Plantagenet/noble people that came from France.

Just one more comment on what Jodie just mentioned about women and their role in Human History: "(...) we've come a long way but by no means we've come far enough(...)". I think we got to be careful not to sound narcissist. Yes, women should be equal to men as they are both humans and both play important roles in society. To my thinking, that's an establishment that's already achieved to any wise thinking and way of seeing the world. Feminist is not good as much as machoism is not good. The objective is the balance. Not to stretch on the opposite side. Lets not forget that there were many women in History who have had made a tremendous influence in society and politics. Right on the beginning, Hatshepsut, the women who became pharaoh and led a prosperous Egipt. Isabel of Aragon, Queen of Portugal, who had a tremendous impact on the political route, not only in the Portuguese Dynasty, but in all Europe. I could name a few more. There were great women in history, even before the time that this film portraits. One of the main reasons why men overruled its because politics were made by force, by war and physical strength.

She wasn’t talking about women and their role in history, she was talking about how many aspects of how Marguerite was treated in the film are present in modern day. She even used the example of the courtroom and the way women are questioned today. How is listing powerful women in history, who have no relevance to what Comer is talking about, proving a point? How is it narcissistic to acknowledge the undeniable prevalence of rape culture?

You clearly know nothing about history if you believe that in Europe during this time people other than white people existed there, study some history before spouting nonsense please
