- Keys cover of Van Halen - Jump. One of them songs which I learnt years ago then relearnt it properly. Check out my new live cover of Jump with my band • 🎹 Van Halen - Jump (Ke...
All my covers are done as if I was supporting a live band which is why I try my best to play as much as the different keys parts as possible with just placement of patches. In the chorus there is a sustained high note which then octaves hit with max velocity. That is why I keep playing the bottom note!
Enjoy and smash the like for more, thanks for watching!

I played for 34 years in a lot of bands. This song was my Nemesis. Never been able to play it like this. Respect.
Why thank you!
Especially that last part in the solo on right hand.
Love your comment. I bet you are one heck of a player! And it is so refreshing to hear someone say that.... to admit a limitation, and not be all ego-driven about it. I'm a guitarist, and.... a pretty bad one, if I do say so myself! LOL But I have a blast anyway... so... And the best part of the comment for me.... I am an EVH and a VH Freak! So cool to say that you had trouble mastering this one. A keyboard song, played by the greatest rock guitarist of all time. Edward was incomparable. The man could do anything.... with just about any sort of an instrument. A maestro on keys and guitar. And a composer.
Tienes que ir por partes muy pequeñas, practicarlas lentas y con metronomo, hasta que tu cerebro las asimile, luego vas uniendo fragmentos hasta que la tienes, luego practicar y practicar
how the hell did this boy play for 34 years and not be able to play this!??
This has to be the most accurately played keyboard cover of Jump I've seen and heard in my life!
**click, applause**
Wow thanks 😅
i agree lotss
. Do u have the patch?
Yes indeed EVH had his blessed ability honed in. Love how he shared it with us all. What a heart felt flowing talent. R.I.P. EVH
Def not a fake recording, 3:06 proves he’s really playing. Great job, one of the best covers I’ve seen.
Thank you!!
Nicely done! Sounds much like the original.
Thanks very much!

Good luck!
See you again
Amazing!
This song is not so easy to learn as it sounds. The solo has a bit of a learning curve but I have to admit it's a great song for starters on keyboard.
Well done!! 👏
A real favourite and this is just so damned fine!
Brilliantly played and reproduced here! Thanks for this, amazing!
Thanks a million Derek! 😊
@@ScottPlaysKeys More than welcome, keep up the great work!
without much pinky still awesome, respect.
Awesome 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
excelente! 😄🤌
fantastic! you nailed it dude!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is a tricky beast to play. Well done you for pulling off such a good job. This must have taken loads of practice... And boy does it show!.. Expertly played!
Thanks ever so much Gordon, it was fun to program in a way I could cover as much as possible just with the two hands!
awesome scott... i had some of this figured out, but you just opened the door on the rest of it for me... thank you...
Glad to have helped, thanks for the sub!
@@ScottPlaysKeys my pleasure bud, looking forward to more
Excellent :)
Dude PLEASE make a tutorial on exactly how you played this
Your demo is great. Like the original.

Thank you 😊
Super!!

SUPER !!!!!!
Nice, nice!
Thanks!🙏
amazing cover!! I'm a fellow keyboard player with a MODX6 and a MOX6. Any chance you could give me a hint or two on how to achieve such a wholesome patch? Mine only has two parts and still, doesn't sound as full as yours!! I can see you have 5 parts playing simultaneously for the main bits, I just cant quite make out what they are... :P
Anyway, great cover man. Keep em coming!!
I can see the similarities between the layout of the MO6/MO8 and this keyboard :)

Great
nice play man
Appreciate it
I have modx7 how can I make that sound so fabulous
Fucking PERFECT!!! LOVE IT!!
Thanks!! 😁😁
@@ScottPlaysKeys Amazing
Wow, Sammy Hagar should have you as their keyboard player this July and August for the VH tribute tour with Michael Anthony and Dave will be making a guest appearance. David Lee Roth was the original singer of Jump which released in January 1984.
That’s awesome! 🤩
My Korg M1 can copy the exact sound of this brass! I know because I used to own one thank you!🙂
You rock!
Thanks!!! 😊
역대급으로 커버를 잘 하셨네요 멋지십니다
고마워
I'm passed my beginner phase and I'm somewhere in Intermediate level (I'm a guitarist first). Can play lots of 80s songs and bullshit my way through some others. But I can not for the life o me, can get what the piano rhythm is doing on the bridge and over the guitar solo. Haven't seen a single video lesson about that parts of the song. Awesome playing, by the way.
Thank you! I hope you are able to get a good idea of what I'm playing if you slow the video down :)
❤
Catchy tune.
Whoever wrote it might be big some day...
👍👍👍👍
Hello Scott, question, the jump sound, did you use the factory keyboard sounds? or did you use any obeheim sample? Thank you very much
The sounds were from the factory library but I edited the envelope filters etc to be closer to the original obeheim!
I have the same Montage 8. I stumbled on you looking for how or effect switch button and where to find the Jump keyboard sound on the Montage (way smarter than I am)
The jump sound was recreated by me programming the synth engine. Thanks for your comment.
How did you get the instruments to sound very close to the original? This is like note for note perfect. I can't tell the difference between the studio recording and yours. Did you mute the keyboard part on the recording of the song that you played with this?
I made tweaks and created the sound based off of the original by using factory sounds with changes in the filters. The original keyboard part is not muted but it’s quiet in comparison to the sound I’m playing. Please check out my live band cover that I uploaded last month to hear the sound purely from the synth thanks!
oh just noticed the octaves at 1.25-1.30 down on the keyboard..nice! Its hard to see, but how did you alter the ocataves? senstivity?
edit: Nevermind,..just read the info on the video :) really cool!
Thanks! Yeah I just used max velocity setting to only trigger the higher octave when I play the key hard.
Holy. Fuck.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Ah excellent cover. Do you happen to have sheet music for this?
No I only have a lead sheet with chords and other prompts. I can’t read music 🙃
ScottPlaysKeys, very nice playing. Love this song. However i notice that the placing of your fingers on the keyboard needs rearrangement. For example, when you play the chord Cadd9 you place the first, the second and the third finger on the C, D and G respectively (see 0:40 of the video). Your second and the third finger opens so much which in many cases will make your life difficult when playing. You do the same in other parts of your playing, seems like that your last small finger is weak. But since you are comfortable with that no problem for us. The result is the same. We here good music.
So it's not a pre-programed button. I've not really gotten pass that. I've only been playing piano/keyboard a couple years. I stumbled upon this Montage 88 barely used and couldn't pass up the deal.
Very nice! Which voice is it? "Synth Brass"?
Yes it is
Nice job! I love how you played the sustained high string note overdubs on the bottom keys. I hadn’t thought of that and I’ll have to add it to my version. Did you program the main sound yourself or is it an aftermarket patch?
This is a sound I created using the montage. Thanks for your comment! :)
@@ScottPlaysKeys I guess I better suck it up and put on my programming hat.
@@ScottPlaysKeys One more question. Does this thing have a master/global eq for ALL patches? I just want to add a little eq on the fly to match the room at a live gig without editing the eq on every performance.
yes I believe in the utility settings area you can pick master EQ. I'm not near my synth atm though to verify. Other alternative is to go through a mixing desk :) @@darrylday30
@@ScottPlaysKeys I checked every page in utility and there’s only an on/off for master eq. I’m pretty sure my old classic motif would do this so it “should” be here somewhere. I’m digging through the manuals and feel like I’m missing something. BTW, I play a lot of festivals without a sound check and I’m trying to keep the gear to a minimum. I’d rather avoid a mixer/eq if possible. If you get a chance, take a look and let me know if I’m missing something obvious. Thanks again.
Exactly like the origional
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the sub!!!
what is ipad software?
The chord chart is made on IReal Pro and then imported to ForScore which is my master app where you can add more notes and other info like genre, key, tempo. I’m also using it to send midi commands for the patch changes.
Thx
I only have a Yamaha E433-yours is way better but I do have a Roland FP-10 piano.
Mittens for fingers.....paw action
Seems like my 'paw-some' keyboard skills got your attention! Thanks for noticing 😉🎹🐾
Do some gospel tunes
Too many advanced chords 😅
So hard to watch you NOT use your right hand pinky... at all...
Perks of being self taught! Rock n roll my dude 😂
nah thats the original recording playing man
Thanks that you think it’s so good it’s like the original hehe
No I’m not trying to be an ass, but that’s very impressive man holy shit I’m blown away, I showed my dad and he was like “wow” he’s 65, and he remembers being in Summerset Wisconsin in 84 in a bar when this song aired on TV, that’s sick man keep it up, you should try to upload “ I’ll wait”
Thanks, wish we could witness a song as good as this being released these days!!
@@ScottPlaysKeys yeah I wish man, they don’t make music like this anymore it’s very unfortunate, wish I grew up in those times
it's original! not cover. shame
My favorite part is when you shifted into parakeet mode at the end of the solo. 🦜
🤣😂Thanks!!
Great Job !!!!!
