- David Wood plans to delete his channel, @HatunTashDCCIMinistries. His fans, myself included, have found that pill hard to swallow emotionally. But, the decision does makes sense in many ways - it will allow David to escape the censors, free up time spent fighting CZcams, and make his content difficult to ban. What if I said he could accomplish all those objectives without deleting? Wouldn't such an alternative be worth considering?

To put together different arguments you have made, I would say that if he took down all his videos and left one video up about where he could be found and stuff like that: stictly informational and if that was fought for / managed by someone he trusted to do that so that it neither used his time nor energy), then that might be preferrable to deleting his channel.
So, he is deleting his channel's content, but not the "channel" per se.
The "delete videos" and/or "dissassociate" perspective that you have has a lot of power.
Also the "what happens if I delete while livestreaming" can be tested without deleing a HUGE channel.
That seems to be a David thing to do, though.
Really hope David considers this.

Thaddeus, what if the channel went to someone tech savvy with some time on his/her hands who could turn it into a 24/7 livestreaming platform? Set up an online form where trusted apologists book a timeslot, submit a video description, thumbnail, and a link to the video file. Then this video gets uploaded to the channel, scheduled to premiere at a given time, and then is aired to the Acts17Apologetics subscriber base. This would be an amazing way to give some exposure to apologists who are starting out.
That is a great idea, actually. Whether anything come of my offer or not, I am currently working on my own long term plans. One of the things I want to do is set up a network of Christian apologists, including a way to limit livestream "competition" by helping people not schedule at the same time. So, that idea fits right into it.

As a small scale CZcamsr more into Game development and other small community stuff this delete the channel thing won't work with my content. This only works with people of David Woods size and charm. I fully support him in his decision. After all the visionaries are the best in creating their own path. A non-visionary like me is not capable of having the same intuition on what works and what doesn't.
I like your proposal though. I don't know how much benefit it would cause, but every little bit could help. On the other hand advertising to go with a bang and then doing some thing which is good in itself, but a completely different vision might break the momentum. My guess is he won't listen to it and pull through with his original plan and it is long term the better solution.
The sheer stupidity of people who beg DW not to delete his channel makes me fear for the future of humanity. I think Thaddeus' suggestion is plausible. The rest of you, just apply some thought. DW's content will not disappear. It will multiply elsewhere on YT and other platforms.

Not also in support of David deleting his channel.. But even if he does, one thing I know for sure is that he has done a colossal damage to Islam.. And they will forever live to remember David Wood..

Sounds like some good options here to save 680,00 subscribers and the internationally renowned Acts 17 Apologetics YT channel..
I notice that YT/Google Australia was fined $700,000 for not removing a video that lied about a Minister of Parliament after repeated requests to do so... the Judge said YT did not adhere to its own community standards... lol..
So maybe another option for David..

I know, praise the Lord! I am honored to have played a role in changing David's mind, but the real credit goes to God for orchestrating events just right.
Both could work. But at the end of the day, DW will do as he thinks is best.

David's plan has been a masterstroke. So many people such as yourself have copied, preserved and re-presented his back catalogue. Now he cannot be deleted. People are also revisiting his past work or finding it for the first time which is giving his material a new lease of life. Now when he appears in person on somebody else's channel he is such a universal figure that people tune in to those smaller channels which promotes them. He cannot now be erased which would almost certainly have happened soon. I reckon he has just about exhausted the Islamic material and his capacity to find humour therein. I also think he had arrived in a cul-de-sac. David's material relies on the notion of a "Historical Mohammed". His friendship with Robert Spencer challenges the idea that there ever was such a historical person. It seems increasingly likely that the entire "Mohammed" event is a literary political devise created over some 250 years. David;s philosophy pursuit is rather more demanding and will engage a smaller audience but it will allow him greater personal depth of interest. I fear that the Rogers/Shamoun breakdown is also something that is hurting him and which he prefers not to be dragged into. It is unlikely to end well and is sadly the insoluble impasse between Protestantism and Catholicism. I have noticed an increasing number of Anti Catholic speakers on CIRA international which has distressed me recently. Polite objections to that effect with reasoned Biblical commentary to accompany have resulted in my being banned from that channel.

You are correct - David would definitely prefer to remain above the debate and won't publicly comment on Rogers or Shamoun. He did delete all the videoes with Sam from his channel several months before the deletion party. Al Fadi has zero tolerance for intra-Christianity debate, so it wasn't about sides. I even saw a guy banned simply for asking what translation was being used by a guest! (I do agree he should think about what he is implicitly endorsing by having people on, but I don't think he thinks that way.)

A true classic. David had a charity fundraiser a couple years later with props from the series. I think the backpack was included, but I'm not certain. Highest donation got first pick of the props and I was $10,000 if I remember correctly.

There are Video Reaction channels who, tired of copyright blocks by CZcams, load a recognisable thumbnail and short vid on CZcams, as usual, but REDIRECTING with a link to another, non-banning platform where the main video is.
It should at least stay up as archives with a "lead video" explaining where he has moved to.
David could leave the channel up, remove all videos except the ones that have already been through the CZcams "Strike-Banned-and-Unbanned" process... but I doubt that he would.
That's another great suggestion, but you are right David probably isn't going to moderate his position. Doesn't hurt to try convincing him though!

Indeed! When I posted the video, several people said it was a waste of time. I knew it was a long shot, but thought it worth the try. Turns out, I was right. I believe God brought this about and am honored to have played a role in it.
You might buy a channel that will very quickly be deleted anyhow.

I do have to say that Anthony (as much as I like of him) is in a miniFeud with Shamoun and has offended catholics and such.
David has tried to stay away from unnecessary controversy... you know, besides his whole gig .
I also think that, unfortunately, your taking on the channel would suffer from the same problem that he wants to liberate himself from.
They definitely would come after you.
That said, maybe you are saying that you want to take that on. I am not sure David would want you to take it on, but I think that both would be better off after a trabsferral.
However, David is a independently minded and might not want to...
In fact, the entire channel could be taken on by someone he trusts who will not make videos, per se, in certaib topics but could direct people to other things.
As an example, they could repost parts of otger people's videos and direct them to thise channels.
I learned about you from IslamCritiqued sharing you "fastest growing" video and I learned of CritiquingIslam from David sharing his video on Muh in some Isaiah passage.
For instance, there are a lot of people who would take on that mission, I think.
Just think of all the good and promotions for other channels that an Acts17Apologetics would do if it was managed by someone who was only focused on promoting other good reasources. It really could give a huge boost to many smaller channels and spread their different perspectives.
That would help kickstart his apologetics empire on CZcams.
If he thinks that he is too big a target, many smaller apologetics people would like to get into taking on the great commission on YT and having a grand plan to do this could be powerful.
This is kinda like the "If I go, I will send the Helper to you" because many smaller youtube channels could do more than he could.
I mean, how many people have specific questions about things that could be addressed.
People could literally make videos for many of the articles on AnsweringIslam dot com and big channels can promote those videos.
There are many very good videos made by small channels like yours that could really be made more useful with a boost.
I think that he should consider your argument. The idea of transferral could mean that someone could use what he has made and do the most good with it, as you said.

And it doesn't have to be me or Anthony taking over, of course. For the suggestion to be concrete, someone needed to step up and volunteer to be that person, so here I am. :) It's easy to say "have someone do X," but far more useful to say "I am will do X."

I do think that David might not think it is best because he already said he would do it and YT likely will ban channels that incorporate humor / "mocking" into exposing ridiculous aspects of this certain religion.

If the channel gets a new owner, will it not eventually start with the strikes all over again, and couldn't someone else just post on their own channel in his place?
But couldn't someone else on their own channel tell people where to find David and alert people of his new material? multiple channels could tell.
Maybe someone would get strikes, but it would be irrelevant to David since it wouldn't be his channel. And certainly everyone can promote David's new venture, but the reality is he has multiple hundreds of thousand subscribers that only follow him and won't really even notice he has disappeared. (Not people super interested in Islam like you or me, just people who watch a video ever now and then.) Having a channel that they are still subscribed to post info about David's whereabouts would thus be highly beneficial to David.
@@ReasonedAnswers If they get strikes on the channel, it's no good because it's still getting in the way, with spreading it, and showing how Islam is false, especially if YT is always adapting and upgrading their rules that you'll never know what's going to really happen, it might just get worse and worse over time, I think he might have thought about this.
Instead of making sure all those subscribers know about his whereabouts after he's left his channel why not, get most of his subscribers to know about his future whereabouts before he deletes it some how?

This’d be cool, but I think one of his reasons for deleting might be to make a statement to CZcams, which could be undermined by leaving his channel up.
As David stated in his video, CZcams won't notice that he is gone. To them, 700k subscribers is less than a drop in the bucket.

I would say he should take your idea & turn it into a library for other Christian apologists to get known on. He would delete all of his videos, rename the channel, and then upload videos from your channel, InspiringPhilosophy, GodLogic, Testify, ect.
That's a great suggestion. Many great options to fulfill David's aims without literally deleting the channel. Let's hope he at least considers it.

Wouldn't Anthony Rogers then get all the strikes? And I doubt he will have the time to keep appealing the strikes and post the updates.
No, he would only be posting his own content plus notices of where to find David, not keeping David's catalog up, so there won't be any strikes being given.

@@annikadamaris8068 The idea is Anthony would get the subscribers, but be posting primarily his own content with an occasional post "David will be on channel X today" but not directly posting any (or at least very little) of David's new content.

Also made the suggestion to delete all his videos, be unbannable and keep it to keep contact via the community section to his 680K subcribers. Indeed, although David regularly says "take my content I don't care," an explicit legal right to do so would be great. (I always release my own content under CC)
I don't think you going to change his mind after he posted he got another bogus strike on his channel and got it removed. This was one of his Islamicize me videos. David is right. He would have to waste time trying to reverse bogus strikes from older videos.

What part is terrible exactly? How does "starting" the process of closing his channel prevent David from closing it in a different way than he first imagined?

Ok, so I think it is unethical for the following reason: The enormous number of subscribers deliberately subbed to the channel of, i.e. to the work of the person, David Wood. That is a very personal and in itself moral/ethical decision/act to subscribe to a certain person and his or her work. So the idea to sell this subscription of people who never had the opportunity to consent to this additional transaction is just plain and simple wrong. @@theeternalquest3463 Thanks for your feedback. I think you substantially overestimate how the average YT viewer views a subscription. And, FWIW, you come off as thinking you know perfectly what is and isn't moral to the point that you can judge strangers and I find that "disconcerting," but perhaps I am mistaken.
