This is quite tricky unless you know where to go. Standing out in the open guarentees death, so don't try that. As always, easiest to perform on Recruit difficulty.
Grab the RPG missile launcher and head down into the tunnel. From there on, shoot the blue cores in the little arc towers to create an electric field which will stun the ATAC. Unload missiles at him twice and run to the opposite side. Rinse and repeat.
Only requires 3 missiles on Recruit, 4 on Trooper, etc. Hence the easier-on-recruit theory.

Like a slough of others here, I spent an hour trying to take out the ATAC with only the pillar as cover. Didn't even know there was a tunnel. Silly for not looking around for better cover first. Thanks for the video.

okay. UNBELEIVABLE. it takes 3 hits with the rocket launcher to take it down. and when I was running around playing hide and seek around that stupid pillar. i could only get 2 hits. so yeah. need to find that tunnel. thank you man. have a fantstic night. blackjack '98
God i was just shooting with my pistol and them swicth to the RPG and i was only in that plateform, didnt know u could go under it

I never knew there was a tunnel down there either until I saw a video review that had this scene in it, but the perspective was different.
I actually tried going down there one time before, but got electrocuted somehow, so I thought I had to stay up top.
I was both pissed and happy when I found out about the tunnel! lol!
What I did was use the pistol on the cores, then the RPG on the ATAC.

yo i didnt know about the tunnel. And it sucked for me because my primary gun I had was the shotgun and I was trying to shoot from long range which is fail. That tunnel would have helped a ton, I kept trying to dodge the missiles by running behing the big crate but it was so hard because when the missiles hit you couldnt see or tell what direction the ATAC was. Nice vid.

You don't have to shoot a rocket at the electric cores, e a couple of pistol shots will set it off. Then you have an instant rocket to use.

Shit, I didn't notice that tunnel when I was playing. I was just running around the little chimney or whatever it is on the roof trying to avoid bullets and missiles. It is hard as fu*k to beat the ATAC that way.

OMG there is a fucking tunnel ?!!! that thing killed me I dont know how many times I spent over an hour killing trying to beat it with just the pillar for cover and at that distance the RPG is a load of crap if the crosshairs aren't dead center on the target you'll miss by a mile!
Lol, I know. I thought that little pillar right where you spawn was the only cover in this fight xD.

I did something similar to that.
I used the pistol to hit the lightning bars, and saved the rocket launcher ammunition for the ATAC.

the game is incredibly fun. I have it. It takes a while to get used to having no aim assist but u'll get used to it eventually. I would think that killzone 2 would give you more playtime than re5, but thats just because i'm not really a perfectionist. multiplayer, if you want to get all the classes, will last you a long time
omfg i died around 15 times on veteran at the top before I beat that fucking thing...I never even bothered to check the ledges for another section.

umm heres an easy way:
just get out your pistol and stay on top part. hit the blue thing once with the pistol then shoot ATAC once with rocket launcher, then pull out pistol and wait for it to glow blue again, repeat

OMFG..i did this on veteran on the roof and i had no idea there was a tunnel down there. the ATAC kept firing missiles at me every sec, it took like a whole day just to kill it. I almost gave up on it but by luck i beat the boss..

You can shoot 2 rockets at the ATAC while it's stunned.
I was playing on the third difficulty(the one before the hardest) and this thing killed me in a matter of seconds. So I was near the point of putting my fist through the tv until I saw how simple it was in this video lol.

I beat it on the 5th try. I dont mean to boast or something. It was super hard. I didnt use the tunnel. I got the shotgun before you entered the place where you would fight the ATAC and once it got near the petrusite things i shot wih the shotgun then RPG quickly use shotgun again and hit with RPG. Rinse and repeat.

Um, instead of wasting missiles, use the revolver to shoot the coils and then use the VC9.

of fuck me. I had no idea you could go down there. I've been fighting it up top for half an hour on veteran. I managed to get 4 hits off standing out in the open tho. If you want to save rocket ammo for whatever reason, dont forget that you have a pistol to shoot those electrical thingys too

From what i've seen Killzone 2 will have an epic multiplayer. If your going for single player i would get Rez evil 5 and just rent Killzone 2 If your going for multiplayer the other way around.

There is tunnel in there you have to go quickly before it sees you. you know atac dragonslayer it has a camera like drone even it has a sensor charge.
I did three hits with that gun but still didn’t fall now out of armour

I read on a gamespot threat how this part of the game was cliche....well if he really thought that he would have found how to kill this thing in no time instead of ejecting the game and popping in COD...i guess he didn't like the challenge...
