This is the second part of my Blackstar Fly Modification! Be sure to watch Part 1!
In this video, I'll be showing you how I fixed the whine coming from my amp and how I made use of the original DC-in jack to recharge the LiPo battery I installed.
The whine was caused by underpowering the amp in the last video. The issue wasn't immediately noticeable, however, soon after the last video was released, I realised I'd messed up.

There aren't many mods for this amp. 5 that I know of, only 3 are DIY, and of that number 2 are yours. Congrats! I've added bluetooth to mine already and your 2 mods are next. If the guy who has the tremolo or chorus mods loosens up I'd like to try the chorus and I don't personally have a use for an external cab jack but there is that as well.

Thank you for posting… More people should DIY instead of buying overpriced items just to solve a very common problem… Is there any whining from the dc to dc switching? I know class d is good at rejecting psu noice but i’m just wandering…

Ok suppose you got a small amp with an inbuilt battery like the Nu-X Mighty Air and used that as the battery (with the volume turned down) with a line out to the Fly? I wouldn't be bothered doing all this its easier to buy an inbuilt battery amp straight off. It's not worth to be mucking around with all this I mean even the speaker is a cheap one just suited for practice.

Unfortunately the MT3608 DC-DC step-up module & JCB Power Bank are now broken links & TP4056 Charging circuit (with low voltage protection) is no longer available.

Hi Michael, Thanks for taking interest in my project! It looks like the TP4056 module link works for me but the JCB power bank is gone. That being said, you would likely achieve similar results with other LiPo batteries. I would recommend however using a few 18650s as they should be able to provide more power when you crank the volume. Or you could stack a couple LiPos in parallel. I've recently noticed some fuzziness and I plan to upgrade mine when I get some time.

I have one just like it that my wife gave me 3 days ago and I am looking for a 6.5 volt and 1.5 amp power supply that they sell for this amplifier, the truth is to disassemble it and modify a new amplifier having the possibility of feeding it with a external source, it seems to me a waste of time and a fudge

I'll be honest, I didn't even realise they made a PSU for it 😅

Man you shouldve recharged the battery to 4.2v and put the maximum voltage to 10.2V
    Remember 6x 1.5v alcaline batteries recharged full are 1.7v each 1.7x6 =10.2V
That way u can use the cab.
