He may not be OoT Great Deku Tree but we know his descendants retain his memories. After clearing the Forest Temple the new sprout explained Link's origins.

@@MChief123 WW Great Deku Tree is implied to be that sprout. BOTW & TOTK take place so far down the line I doubt it's the same one.
@@burger_kinghorn he could still be the same. Some Trees in real life have lived for thousands of years. It's possible a magical talking tree could live for hundreds of thousands. The only reason why the first great deku tree died in OOT was because he was severely injured by Ganondorf. We don't exactly know how long a great deku tree can live for.
Last time he saw this deku tree he was just a sprout. Imagine how bittersweet that must be! 😭💔

@@Sarah12471 It's an interesting theory, but it was debunked before it could ever be voiced, over 20 years ago back in their first appearance in Wind Waker. The Deku Tree explained that the Children of the Forest took on human forms once upon a time (the Kokiri), but came to be _of_ the Forest (the Koroks) after what was once the Deku Tree's Meadow and the Kokiri Forest became the isolated Forest Haven and (though not known as such right away) Forbidden Woods.

I mean it's covered in the opening of OoT for what OoT Link was in, and then yeah specifically in the Wind Waker Timeline the Kokiri became Koroks.
And if we know how OoT was, we know that, this Great Deku Tree is not the one that saw Time Link grow in the forest, but rather it is the sprout that emerged when Time Link purified the Kokiri Forest.

If every seed that falls from the Great Deku Tree retains its memory, just as the Deku Sprout did, then across untold eons, even across the world, a single seed carried to any new Hyrule shall always be the same Great Deku Tree. The shape changes. The era changes. But the Tree persists, and the domain of the Tree shall always be the home of the forestfolk. The Hero of Time will always have a place there, no matter where or when.

It's so noce he's remebered and welecomed back. Even if the Links are linked, every single one is unique and deserves to be remembered.
Beautiful moment will be one of the koroks transforms to Saria or Navi and hugs Time Link. Give him some closure for peek sake. Eventually wild link will ruined that moment because he hate koroks lol.
Interesting that this Great Deku Tree sort of recognizes the Hero of Time, even though he's obviously not the same one. That one died and was replaced by a new one who was a sprout in OoT but a full fledged tree in Wind Waker. Course this one can't be that one either because it's been far too long since that point.

@@j4hsan BotW and TotK take place an _inordinate_ amount of time after OoT and the end of each branch timeline to the point that all the events of the games on the official timeline are mere myth. Not to mention the one in Wind Waker is already a different character than the one that died in OoT but might be the sprout.
