    What do u think about redensyl for beard?

    • @The.ModernMan
      @The.ModernMan  Před rokem +1

      So I would be very curious to see this get results. Redensyl+Procapil+capixyl (RPC)seems to be a very effective combo on paper. I have it in my fridge and made a serum, but I haven’t tried it out and I already got great gains from minox, so that could skew it. I made my lady the same serum, so she is a current test for head hair.
      What makes me skeptical is The Ordinary has a hair serum with Redensyl and I haven’t see anyone preaching its praises for hair growth or anything. Like if it was comparable to Minoxidil, I feel like someone would be preaching about it. Also, RPC doesn’t have side effects and when side effects are completely absent, that’s questionable.
      So ultimately, no conclusion yet, will see my gfs hair results and see if I get additional growth soon when I startup.

      @@The.ModernMan I live in India, actually that combo is sold as hair regenrative product here by some brand, I am skeptical of it due to capxyil and procapil, one of them I guess is a DHT blocker and it's not abundantly clear if beard follicles are stimulated by free testosterone or DHT, bcoz I am 5alpha ar deficient and low in DHT throughout life( until recently I have taken a lot of steps to raise those). I do have a passable beard but it's very patchy or non dense on cheeks is a better way of putting it and nothing seems to work. Primarily reason for patchiness is actually DHT deficiency bcoz my test is always in 650-800 range even when not exercising. So I take boron to curb shbg to raise free test and raised DHT too and skeptical about taking anything on face that blocks DHT bcoz I have a hunch that DHT plays a role in perhaps follicle maturation or something for sure where hair growth is androgenic

    • @The.ModernMan
      @The.ModernMan  Před rokem +1

      Any online places do subscriptions? Not sure how that works there. I historically would buy them from Canadian pharma and I’m in the US.
      Retinol should technically have some impact because it converts. The minoxidil study with tret used .01 strength. So it‘s a matter of how much retinol converts to retinaldehyde which converts to tretinoin. This is not exactly known and I’ve read about estimates of up to 10% but some people may process differently.
      Might I recommend the geek & gorgeous a game since you’re in the UK. This is a nice Retinaldehyde serum that is well formulated, fair priced and would take a step out of the conversion process.

    For my skincare routine, I exfoliate twice per week. What do you recommend the time be between exfoliating and derma rolling?
    Also, when exfoliating and using Minoxidil would you exfoliate after applying minoxidil?

    • @The.ModernMan
      @The.ModernMan  Před 9 měsíci

      It's hard to say becuase it depends on the depth of the derma rolling and the method of exfoliation. Chemical, physical, what ingredient?
      Dermarolling accomplishes the same job as exfoliating, so there isn't a ton of need to exfoliate within a few days of it. If chemical exfoliant, it won't matter much either way. If physical, I would do it before because you have to rinse it off and it's good to clear dead skin cells.

      So I haven't seen anything about permanent gains with eyebrow and i've stopped then seen hairs fall out. If I had to take a really unscientific guess, because facial hair gets so much thicker, something about that keeps the hairs around after they fully mature. • @The.ModernMan

      You can do that, the important thing is to not spread the minoxidil everywhere so we can minimize unwanted hair growth in other areas. Just if the surface of your skin is still wet from minoxidil, you may spread it. You could moisturize immediately after if you just do the top half of your face first, then the bottom half.

    Hey mate I’m just wondering if there’s anything I can do to get around a general plateau with minox. I’ve been using it for about a year now and initially I saw great results until i started taking finasteride. I’ve tried taking fin every other day but I think my dht levels have nuked so much now that the progress is pretty much stagnant. I was able to get completely vellus hair coverage within the first 2-3 months but after introducing fin it’s shedded and basically just whispy hairs. Would topical fin be a good option or would that still be systemic. Thanks!!!

    • @The.ModernMan
      @The.ModernMan  Před rokem

      So according to the study that found a link between dht and beard growth, it’s only linear growth. So it would slow down how long it takes them to grow, but that’s wild you have started shedding. I was on dutasteride coming from finasteride and didn’t see an impact(back on fin now).
      Topical fin could be a great option, as it doesn’t get introduced into the system as much as oral. I personally would feel like I’m missing spots with topical finasteride and be paranoid about that and my head hair takes priority. But that could definitely help.
      Were you on the trifecta? Minox+Tret+Needling?
      I would make sure I’m on that with 2x a day Minox, throwing in LCLT for good measure. From there, if you plateau, you are likely at or very close to your max potential. I saw jumps in gains when I added in tret, and then needling.

    Hey man, thank you so much for all the advice!
    I have a short beard rn, at around 1.5 inches long, and I’m trying to apply foam minoxidil 5%.
    I just wanted to ask:
    1: Is ur fine to maintain this length or should I trim down/shave for better absorption with the foam?
    2: How should I wash the skin beneath the beard? I usually use beard shampoo but how many times a day can I do that? I’ve seen people say you should clean your face before applying minox, and then 4h after.
    3: Should I be applying beard oil after minox to combat dryness? And if so, how long after? Since I have a beard, it feels weird to apply moisturiser to the beard hair and skin, is that even possible?

    • @The.ModernMan
      @The.ModernMan  Před 7 měsíci

      1.5 in ia pretty long! If I had that of a beard, i'd probably switch to a dropper because it's much easier to get between hairs and apply.
      As for the skin beneath the beard, it varies person to person. Is the skin dry, is it getting pimples? Beard vs no beard, my routine doesn't change much.
      Yeah honestly it feels kind of weird. When I had a beard around that length, I just washed my face like normal, applied minoxidil, applied a moisturizer and then a nice hair oil or balm to the beard afterwards. But the beard balm/hair oil wasn't for my skin, it was because the face wash takes oils out of the beard and if I didn't balm/oil up, my beard just wasn't as nice looking or manageable, especially towards the ends.
      I've never used a beard shampoo, so it's hard for me to say much about that in particular. My gut reaction is that it is probably overly drying because men's companies very rarely make great products, so I could see them just grabbing some generic formula and throwing it in a bottle, and most shampoos are much too strong for face skin. But I could be wrong and maybe it's a great mild formulation, or maybe it works for you regardless.

      As for washing the face, sorry if this sounds silly, but do you apply your cleanser/face wash to your beard too? I.e the skin under your facial hair (if you have a long beard).
      Also, do I need to wash my face every time I apply minoxidil and 4 hours after each application? Wouldn’t that be too much washing and stripping natural oils?

I personally took it daily for a few weeks and don’t notice any changes, but everyone is different. In general though, I care less about the linear growth than I do the general density and follicle count.
      Have you tried it?

    I keep hearing that you shouldn’t apply minoxidil right after micro-needling, and to give it 24 hours before the next application. True?

    • @The.ModernMan
      @The.ModernMan  Před rokem

      While this isn't specifically studied on its own, if you are looking to minimize Minoxidil-based side effects and maximize safety, this is a smart option. That being said, several of the studies with Minoxidil and Needling either performed the application before needling or right after with no issue. My personal experience was very similar with my preferred method being applying minoxidil about an hour before needling.

    If creatine increases dht, how would this affect beard growth?

    • @The.ModernMan
      @The.ModernMan  Před 11 měsíci

      DHT impacts linear hair growth. So when it is reduced, hair count remains the same, but they grow slower.

    Would you recommend dosages of 1 ml?

      1 ml of what? If minox, you only need a few drops. 1 ml is the dose for your full scalp.
