I love how Sonic's quills extend when he hits top speeds.. This REALLY should have been a full game. I mean, even this simple "mission mode" really isn't all that different than collecting the stars in Mario 64. You're just doing various missions within a time limit, as opposed to your mission being to collect a power star. So really, it could have been a full fledged game like Mario 64. I can just imagine something like a dozen levels that have various missions, based on their layout, enemies and such. "Defeat 4 motobugs" "Collect the underwater rings" and such. Maybe once you've beaten all the missions in each stage, you have a boss battle against Eggman or one of his creations, or a race around the level against Metal Sonic or something. Then, each mission has rankings based on your time, and if you get all S ranked times (like when you beat all these missions under the time limit they showcase) you would unlock the giant ring which lets you earn the Chaos Emerald in a special stage. Also, (I THINK you can do this in this game, but can't remember for certain) they could have set it up where you could either do all the missions in order, or you could do them out of order, assuming you know what the specific missions are. If you know collecting 50 rings is a mission in that stage, but it's not next on the list, you can still do it at any time as a simple and obvious example. Not all that different from collecting 8 red coins at any time in Mario 64 stages. I know it's probably pointless to talk about it 20 years after the game came out, not like we can save the Saturn anymore (and I think something like what I suggest here would have sold like crazy honestly) but who knows? Maybe the team building Sonic Mania could revisit this little gem of a stage, give it a resolution/frame rate bump, but keep it looking like a Saturn game, and make a full game out of the concept. A long shot, but it's a fun idea.
if they're thinking the same way i am what we want is specifically a saturn style sonic game, which never actually happened because reasons if sonic adventure is mario sunshine and sonic 3 is mario world, we want mario 64

Haven't thought of Sonic Jam in a long time, but boy, it's a shame that 3D Sonic didn't evolve this way. It's a great blend of platforming in a 3D environment that really works.
It's worth mentioning that this mode is actually a prototype of Sonic Adventure 1; it was meant to be an RPG, then they decided to make it a 3D platformer for the Saturn before moving production to the Dreamcast when it replaced the Saturn. I think this specific prototype was made specifically for Sonic Jam since it serves as a glorified menu for the bonus content, which I don't imagine was ever meant for the full game because they make more sense in a compilation like this than a full, original game like Adventure (except for maybe the art, something that's actually pretty common for games as unlockable bonuses no one cares about because you could find them on the internet, assuming you care about that to begin with).
Part of me kinda hoped that the Saturn version of 3D Blast looked and played like this. Imagine how much more fun that game would’ve been if the whole game was like this. Hell, it might’ve been Sonic’s equivalent to Mario 64 even.
Ocelotl Chimalpahin Sonic Adventure is exaggerated realism, and the style works fine with Modern Sonic. It even has anime-style humans as opposed to realistic ones, but I think the game could have been just a little more stylized.
THE MAN sure. I just never liked seeing other humans in Sonic besides Robotnik. The introduction of humans society and guns was just odd and doesn't feel consistent with the tone of Möbius
+Chase's Channel I would love a bunch of Zones, and missions a la Super Mario 64, with each Zone being like a huge sandbox for Sonic to traverse, and do whatever in. Collect 100 rings? Find 10 Red Star rings? Defeat a boss? Find some little secrets? Have a race with a various character? Starting from point A, and going to a certain point, by doing certain things? Go get 'em, Sonic!!!
When Sonic Team started planning Sonic Adventure it was for Saturn and I look at Sonic World as some of their early research and development toward Sonic Adventure. I'm not going to say that Sonic's running animation/model is good here or that the camera angles make any sense for a Sonic game, but I really can't tell you how therapeutic it was for me to see that the Saturn was at least capable of generating graphics for a 3D Sonic platformer, even if this is a bit more Mario 64ish than SA.
does anyone else notice how in this game when you step on the red and white circle thing for the 2nd time, the melody that plays kinda sounds like the piano part in red mountain 1 from sonic adventure?

Luca Crivellaro Well. It is impressive. But GDK games seem stiff for me. But I might see that differently, since I'm envolved into Sonic fangames and know different background storys.
I mean Sonic Z-Treme (fan game/homebrew) for Saturn is definitely worth checking out. I kinda wanna make something like this, in a world similar to the OVA. Sonic and Tails ARE always together too for the most part a la SA1, but some levels they get separated and have to reunite.
