This was around four months before the 9pm News got a massive revamp. It would become a 2 presenter bulletin, with the famous "flying fish fingers" opening titles sequence. It was also the time when they added a short 90 second regional news after the main 9pm bulletin.
They never quite managed to make this version of the 9 o'clock news 100% smooth and professional. (I'm not referring to the newsreaders, but the rest of it. Professional in a technical sense).
