      so the reason curse acts like that is any move or effect that takes a percentage of HP only takes the original HP, ignoring the recalculated hp stat of a dynamaxed pokemon. Raid pokemon have even more hp than normal max dynamax pokemon, so they take very little damage of this type but this has practical uses for players as well, for example life orb solar power dynamax charizard. instead of taking an insane 22% of my hp per turn, its only 11% thanks to dynamax. at the same time this also nerfs potentially broken combos like gluttony G-Max Snorlax with Iapapa berry as the berry will heal the same numeric value in g-max mode, effectively all % based damage or healing done to a max dynamax level pokemon is halved

    I wanna update a thing about multi hit moves, if you hit the LAST part of the shield, it WILL break and their stats will drop which allows you to attack their health directly with the rest of the hits.

    8:46 I think the best way to explain this is by looking at the gift Charmander. It just looks like a regular Dynamax until you get to the Charizard, where the game can link a Gigantamax form to the Pokémon. Considering the fact that the game still treats your Pokémon as a Ditto and not Snorlax, it cannot connect a Gigantamax form to the Pokémon, and thus it only receives Dynamax.

  • @TheJakDragon
    @TheJakDragon Před 4 lety +9

    One thing I've noticed from dynamaxing Pokemon that may be important: Things like leftovers continue to behave as if you have your non-dynamaxed HP. My example is my Dracovish that I use for raids on occasion. Through testing both during and after, leftovers restores the exact same amount of HP, even though my dynamax HP is doubled. Haven't tested to see whether other "set amount of HP" effects react the same, but after seeing your curse, my theory is that those effects are going by the unaltered HP total, so end up restoring/dealing less on a dynamaxed pokemon.

  • @kingduckmaster19
    @kingduckmaster19 Před 4 lety +40

    I’ve noticed any percentage based effects (Leftovers, Sand Tomb, etc.) go based off of original health, so your curse is likely based off of Xatu’s original health.

      Here's a quote I found on this:
      "All effects that is based on a percentage of the Dynamaxed Pokémon's maximum HP (e.g. Life Dew, Leech Seed, poisoning) is calculated based on its maximum non-Dynamax HP. If Endeavor or Pain Split is used against a Dynamax Pokémon, the damage it receives would only be based on its non-Dynamax HP. However, Brine's bonus damage is still calculated based on the Dynamax HP."

    Huh interresting, When the Dynamax Pokemon does the: "Pokemon nullified the stat changes and Abilities of other Pokemon" the german text translates to: "Pokemon removed all status conditions and changes". So in german it says that it removes stuff like poison,sleep etc. but it doesnt say that it removes abillitys...

    A note about status conditions: they do shake off after a few turns, but most are still worth it to do at the start of a raid. Poision just is the only one that doesn't really do anything. Paralysis is especially good in raids, since it may attack 2-3 times a turn, and each time it has to get through the paralysis check. And that's not even mentioning half speed.

  • @notoriousmarxist9065

    Interesting point about multi hit moves and shields: if the first hit is the last shield bar, then every hit after that does damage to the Pokémon. So you’ll break the shield, get the shield down damage, and be able to hit 1-4 more times on the Pokémon.

    The reason of why you can't use knock of and etc. in a raid might be this: early in the game I heard a rumor that you can actually steal the items from NPC and they won't be reset. I tried it with my friend but yeah, it didn't work. But we tried it only after the first server maintenance. Maybe they fixed it by making these move completely unavailable.

  • @stevenjordan3839
    @stevenjordan3839 Před 4 lety +6

    This is a mechanic where you have to build defensively when you assemble your teams, with Dynamax Pokemon they are immune to any and all flinching, any and all weight based damage dealing moves, they can not faint with destiny bond, encore and disable users will not work with these Pokemon, and it will break the move lock with the choice items releasing the normal sized Pokemon from those effects if one of these is on them.
    To win battles with them, you are not allowed any flinch type users, weight based damage users, destiny bond users, encore and disable users, all choice unlocked users are ok.
    So this limits you to your Pokemon only being allowed to know offensive based moves, going on defense, knowing a move with secondary effects (are Dynamax Pokemon allowed to be hurt by secondary effects for the three turns, or are these blocked with them immune for all 3 turns), healing itself or its allies, so on and so forth.
    Since you can not hit them by normal means, the best way to do battle well with them is take out Pokemon who you know will not work against them let alone deal damage onto them.
    Item effects, they all stop working and any move that can take items, do anything else with items, etc does not work because if they all can't you can't either for item holds or removal of.
    All multi hit moves only break a shield once and no more, so these things can't be hit that way.
    Ditto does not know Gigantamaxing as it lacks the flag, but can turn into a Dynamax Pokemon normally but without the storm clouds.
    Pain split does next to nothing, so it is best to limit all Dynamax and Gigantamax activity to online only where most of the normal mechanics do seem to work fine when you are in battle.
    As these are so programmed to where they can not be hit by conventional means, it is best a player voluntarily bans and does not allow certain species meeting the move ineffective conditions into a max raid battle.
    Your not allowed either to use anything that can cause a status condition as it will just take away the condition in under 1 turn, so plan your movesets carefully and take out Pokemon of certain kinds who are going to be functionally of little to no use with Dynamax Pokemon and do not allow them into max raid battles. online is fine.

If Endeavor or Pain Split is used against a Dynamax Pokémon, the damage it receives would only be based on its non-Dynamax HP. However, Brine's bonus damage is still calculated based on the Dynamax HP."

    it DOES pan out, but I notice that while battling pikachu with Silvally, with Ground memories - in normal mode Multi attack said super effective, but Dynamax said Normal, and just plain effective but when I used it it uses the dynamax version of the equipped element and it used a super effective max quake, but showed as a normally effective max strike

      i think youtube doesn't count views if the watch time is too low so as to prevent people from spamming reload to artificially raise view count so that the video gets placed higher priority by youtubes algorithm. those are probably just likes and comments from people that immediately like and comment before they start the video.

    Already knew skill link didn't smash shields BUT if cloyster uses rock blast on 5 star Gmax butterfree it'll do quite a bit of damage through the shield. Also something you didn't catch was when a multi hit move is used before a shield is up. 1-2 rock blasts get it to the HP where it puts the shield up but then the other 3-4 do nothing. Now the best thing skill link has done for me is if it's the last hit on the shield because most of the time it ignores the thing stopping the other hits and it does about 1/2 max HP.

    I can vouch on the multi-hitting moves not taking out more of the shields whenever you battle a Dynamax Pokemon. I remember one time I used my Cinderace, and once of his moves was Double Kick. I used it while the Dynamax Pokemon had it's shield up, and only one of the bars went down, despite me hitting it twice.
    Needless to say, it sucks.

  • @estarinezephaloid1680

    If there were more you didnt show, you should do a video on what moves are different on raid dmax pokemon vs player dmax pokemon. Also consider what moves/effects dont work/work differently when shields are up, mostly because it seems to be hard to find that information out unless you personally trial and error, which as you saw, can be dissappointing. Itd be cool to have a compilation of "what u should know about raid pokemon" or something, like reading comments below has given me some useful tips!

  • @LuisOrdaz

    Do moves like bind work the same with their constant damage and does binding band increase their damage on dynamax mons?

  • @emeralddragon2980
    @emeralddragon2980 Před 4 lety

    So the thing to know about Dynamaxing is that it scales the Pokemon's HP up differently. You'll notice that if your Pokemon Dynamaxes, its health will clime up to a certain point, and you can use Dynamax Candies to increase that health gain. I'd have to do some extra math on several Pokemon to figure out the ratio, but chances are someone else has already done it.
    The point is, instead of doing 1/4 of the damage, it may very well be 1/8 or 1/16, depending on how the health scales.

    If cloyster or any other skill link/multi hit move Pokemon use their multi hit move on the last shield, it will break it (obviously) and the rest of the hits actually do damage as if the shields were gone (again obviously) but the defense drop procs after you finish your attack.
