Because its an inline 4 that has only 400cc and revs to 16k that has 80 hp. No competitor has that nowadays. Very rare bike indeed. This little rocket will also hit more than 200 kph. Not everyone wants 130 hp or more to have fun. This is gonna be a fun bike on the track and twisties.
No competition because demand is too limited to make it worth engineering. Kawasaki is taking a risk here. First year will sell out just because of the novelty and limited supply but once the zealots get theirs, how much demand will be left? I suspect not much and this bike ends up being canceled in a few years.

I have a 2021 ZX10R KRT and this thing looks like a smaller version of it, most of all, fabrication and finish way better than the regular Ninja 400, this one is a winner for sure!

cause straight line speed is not everything. once you ride a small flickable sportsbike a 1000cc feels like a boat. its great for the track or highway but riding in the twisties while actually shifting and revving the hell out of it is fun. I can speak for myself that a Ninja 300-size pocket rocket is more fun for me than the Fireblade I rode. 600cc is too much power to use on the street, 300-400 inline twins are not enough

Good build quality for the price and not as eco focused as other manufacturers are doing at the moment.
It’s because a 4 cylinders 40cc in-line engine is very rare, but it looks very close to a regular Ninja 400
i think the main point is that its unique. Defo not for everyone but i guess the people that like it like it really much
