I like your view of letting go. I feel ashamed of considering treatments for finasteride or hair transplants in the future. Accepting the natural process and embracing baldness is more at peace. I am 29 and have a Norwood 3, and my dad and grandpa started shedding a lot at 30 and were Norwood 7 by age 40, which is not too bad considering some people are Norwood 7 by age 30 or earlier. If I weren’t a short guy, 5’6, or was rich, I’d be more at peace with going bald. I do still get jealous of my buddies that have dads in their 60s with a Ronald Reagan hairline. Screw them 😂, they don’t understand the struggle. At least I am healthy, with no disabilities, which is something I am grateful for. I feel like hairline issues are a 1st world problem sometimes.

The spot on my head doesnt stay in one direction. it changes directions especially when i take a nap then wake up. Its thinner in that area then rest my hair. Yeah, we all have cowlicks. Mine is actually what freaked me out and sparked my interest in hair loss. Some non-balding people also seem to have slightly less hair in the crown area, it's weird. You can even see it in some children. And when my hair gets long and unkempt, it can look like a bald spot even though i don't believe it is at this juncture, especially when i middle part my hair. Just sort of monitor it a few times per year for changes, or go get it checked out if you're really worried.

Yeah, balding can move very slowly though! Look at Nick, he's been losing hair for half of his life and still can pull off a "full head of hair" in most people's eyes. But if you're dealing with something "aggressive" or have a family history hair loss, monitoring it could be helpful.

You are helping young guys thank you. Your hair looks good. BTW disconnects from the frontal forelock and the shaved look is hotter than ever. Go to any MMA gym and you will find lots of hot women their that love the look. In fact they are drawn to it because it's masculine. Young guys take advantage of the trend.

You’d have to check the males on both sides of the family. See when they went bald in the family pictures. Otherwise, your hairline is probably maturing, which is nothing to worry about. Mine did around that age and stayed till age 16 to 26 as Norwood 2 with slight diffusing. In your case, it sounds like you may be diffusing, but maybe that's the way your hair is. Some people have wavy dark hair, which could mask balding, compared to someone with light straight hair. Take pictures of your hairline with a similar light exposure and angle every six months if you are really worried. Then you can compare before and after.

Full NW 3 is an island, mild/moderate NW 3 is usually an M, very mild is kind of a U, a la Bryan Cranston. I’m getting golf ball lobs up there at 18.. but the thing that stumps me is since I was 15 or so maybe younger I can’t remember but the sides of my hair around my ears has become very thin, every balding video or guy I’ve seen does not start thinning here. All bald guys have the majority of bald going right over top.

If you're thinning, hair fibers are a decent solution especially for the crown or at least until you're comfortable with being a bald guy. Just have to wash them out before going to bed. Lots of youtube videos on hair fibers and how to use them. Keeps your thinning hair looking thicker while you still have hair. If done properly, you can't tell they are on your head. Btw, if you think you're thinning, your barber can help you. All you need to do is ask. You may need to change your hair style a bit.

How old are your relatives that have hair? You generally get your androgen receptors from your mother's father but that does not mean you cannot go bald. Also, if all the men in your family are young, you cannot really make an adequate assessment yet. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it.

Not a bad overview! Go visit the balding forums and you'll see men obsessively debating every stage of the scale -- actually don't, that's no fun at all! Full NW 3 is an island, mild/moderate NW 3 is usually an M, very mild is kind of a U, a la Bryan Cranston. Only correction of significance I have, but I bet you'll get some Norwooders with dissenting opinions pretty soon with this one!

I’m getting golf ball lobs up there at 18.. but the thing that stumps me is since I was 15 or so maybe younger I can’t remember but the sides of my hair around my ears has become very thin, every balding video or guy I’ve seen does not start thinning here. All bald guys have the majority of bald going right over top.

I’m pretty much straight upfront but it’s been thinning for sometime I think... I’m currently 16. I think I’m thinning on the top, the crown..? I’m not sure and I don’t know what to do. I have a weirdly shaped head (specifically the back) and so I’d look weird.
If you're thinning, hair fibers are a decent solution especially for the crown or at least until you're comfortable with being a bald guy. Just have to wash them out before going to bed. Lots of youtube videos on hair fibers and how to use them. Keeps your thinning hair looking thicker while you still have hair. If done properly, you can't tell they are on your head.
Btw, if you think you're thinning, your barber can help you. All you need to do is ask. You may need to change your hair style a bit.

Too early to tell yet. If you're really concerned, ask your barber. They see this stuff all the time.

How old are your relatives that have hair? You generally get your androgen receptors from your mother's father but that does not mean you cannot go bald. Also, if all the men in your family are young, you cannot really make an adequate assessment yet. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it.
The men in my family then were talking about age 50-75 the only Young ones are me and my cousin but thansk for helping me out and answering my question
Sounds weird, but I've been waiting years for my hairline to mature or even recede! Why? I have way too much hair and it covers my forehead. So I have something a bit new for you. How do you know if your hairline will mature and how can I speed it up?
