This album was a collaboration between Ben Gibbard, best known as the lead singer of indie band Death Cab For Cutie, and Jimmy Tamborello, an electronic music artist. They called themselves The Postal Service because one of them lived in Seattle and the other in Los Angeles, and they’d mail CD-Rs of demos to each other and add things to them to finish the songs. They only put one album.
You really need headphones to truly appreciate this song. Thankfully, you had them.

My mom has a peculiar music taste so the postal service was one of the music groups I listened to growing up. Definitely geeky and unique.
Crazy how the vocalist went on to have commercial success, but the producer that crafted this masterpiece kinda faded into obscurity. His solo work is JUST as banging

Always liked this song. Reason it might sound familiar is that it’s super reminiscent of 80s/90s British group Pet Shop Boys (which you’ve def reacted to). When I heard this for first time, I completely assumed pet shop boys had just put out a comeback single.

A song worth listening to.
Fuck man I was like 12 when this came out and listened to it so much over the next 5 or so years. This song really hits different now. I feel like i was a teenager during the best time in history to be one. 2001 was when it felt like the old era was ending and by 2014 everything started to get whack.
