This podcast was the sole motivation to get me over a 5 year heroin addiction. I overdosed and died twice at one point. Im now over 2 years sober. I can't Thank you enough Jocko you actually saved my life!!!

Ryan Lewis just keep pushing forward no matter what. I was clean for 4 months and everone was proud of me and i relapsed and overdosed. Just dont let any setbacks or relapses stop you from moving forward because they happen to everybody. I would HIGHLY recommend using suboxone. Just take proper doses and have about a 3 month plan from beginning to end to get off the suboxone because I saw a lot of people get on it too long and struggle to get off. One last thing that may sound irresponsible is i used marijuana and it helped more than anything. Good luck man

Jesus christ you fucking weirdo. I obviously relapsed, actually twice. And after a few months of being clean I saw him on JRE and starting watching this from day one. I never said I ORGINALLY got clean because of this I said it was a motivtion. How the hell could someone that listens to this podcast still be such a troll??? Get a life man.

Mr. Garfield you know what it's all good. Trust me I put zero importance to likes on a YT channel. I do it so others that may have similar problems can find hope knowing some people make it out, such as a couple other people in this thread. I have lost around 10 friends including my best friend in the 2 years since I got sober and I want it to stop!!! Most people hide their problems. This podcast taught me to not shy away from, but to embrace my past mistakes and help others learn from my dumb ass decisions instead of repeating them.

Jocko, I saw some criticism recently about the "dead air" on your podcast, and I hope I speak for more then myself when I say the dead air is great, it helps build suspense and helps show the importance of certain pieces of writing!!
Keep it up, DISCIPLINE = FREEDOM

Yeah he really knows how to build suspense with those quiet moments. Especially with the black and white video and his intense stare.

Any jackass that complains about the dead air isn't listening. When he pauses during reading the silence is deafening. It is for effect. He is one of the best narrator of suspense. Who are these people complaining?

"Firstly, sufference... " The way you read the book and how Sydney Jary tells the stories through his eyes haunt me in such a way that I cannot get his thoughts out of my head. Even though you basically read the book to us...I still have to get this book!

This one got me all teared up around 2:35:00 - 2:39:00. Compared to the life soldiers live everyday and the hell they endure, i cannot think of myself as a man, but a soft baby who knows nothing of the world. This podcast gives me a brief glimpse of that reality, and humbles me at the deepest level.

If you talk to veterans, at least the ones I have known, they would never hold combat as a right of passage, but a horrible, damaging experience that they wouldn't wish on anyone, but something they understood that they and others must be subjected to for preserving freedom/safety what have you. They went through it so others do not.

1:58:32 Jocko only gets emotional when strong honorable people break down. I will go as far as to say that it affects him more, than people dying.
I wonder if he remember times when He too felt really close to breaking down, and if these stories reminds him of how fortunate he was to always be able to keep afloat of that breaking point.

Jocko, I'm sure a lot of people will agree with me on this , I would love to hear a podcast from you that is focused on jiu jitsu , I recently started taking classes in bjj predominantly because I hear you talk about it often on your podcast it really stood out when you said one of your children asked if super powers were a real thing and you replied with " jiu jitsu" .. I would love to hear how your experience was starting as a white belt being that it's a little discouraging already and any advice or tips on practicing and learning faster or better outside of class . I'm already fascinated with the sport of bjj but as I mentioned it's very frustrating how technical and slow I feel that I'm comprehending the fundamentals. Would love to hear your story and point of view on the whole learning process

Jocko and all readers of Military History I highly resommend you check out these free youtube series. Soldier histoory of men in battle, Valour and Horror, and Hell in the Pacific. There was once a great website called Witness to War which had 100's of gret interviews from ww2 on u to today. I can't get it to work on my new computer but, it still exist and maybe you can tap into the resource. I was a Marine grunt and the war s we have fought in the past 13 years have been bad enough but, could you imagine if it was 1st world on 1st world again like in ww2? It would be a slaughterhouse.
