Hi Jenny! I always LOVEEEE how much awareness you are always spreading about FM!! I just matched to my #1 FM medicine (without a match day party ): ) and I am so so EXCITED about a career! I am also 10 weeks pregnant for the 1st time and I'm so nervous and excited and worried about it!!
Congratulations!! I can see how exciting and scary to time is for you. There is so much uncertainty even without the pandemic. But many people have done this before and you will always have our support. You are going to do great!!

I notice a lot of people don't really care for OMT and do DO just to be a doctor; I guess thats okay but I love seeing how passionate you are about it.
I know I’m watching this a few days after you recorded, but I am starting medical school at Oklahoma State University - College of Osteopathic Medicine in the fall, and I am completing my MPH this semester. I am wanting to do primary care, and family med is my top choice right now. I am applying to the NHSC scholarship, so hopefully I can get that and save some loan debt. A lot of what you said are areas why I want to become a primary care provider. I also want to do community initiatives to incorporate my public health degree. The US needs more primary care providers, and your pursuit of family med, and hopefully mine to follow, will help improve the health of communities in the US.

I didn’t realize family medicine docs do nerve blocks etc. I used to get occipital nerve blocks for my migraines.
M L definitely. But only really worth it for really bad migraines

Great video. You said you currently have over $300K in student loans. You stated you've accepted a P/T position paying only $120K, when if you were to work F/T you would make $240K. So why not work F/T and pay your student loans that much quicker? I'm a FNP, and do a lot of the same work you do. I appreciate the work you do. Sometimes you feel unappreciated. God Bless.
I have two young kids and don’t want to miss any more of this time with them. I can work more when they start school. Also, Stan can start working full time so we are still planning to pay off the loans in 3-5 years.
Have you every see and hear that any doctor retirement from being a doctor. Whether they have work in the public place or they have their own office to practice. And as a doctor you need to retake any test for your medical board license.
Hey Jenny, I know this is like a year late, but I'm starting to lean more towards a rural family medicine practice. I was wondering if it's possible to run it as a family medicine practice, but offer urgent care services as well? I know there is a residency program for FM/EM so you can be double board certified, which is something that i am interested in so that I can provide the best care to my community
That’s awesome! I’ve seen physicians open up private urgent care offices but you can also do that at your practice. In our residency, we would block off half a day on our schedule for walk in’s/same day urgent visits. So same thing! Can do that without an EM fellowship. But if you plan on working in official ER setting then ya go to the fellowship

hey Jenny , what if your patient on delivery needs C section? what ob gyn work can you do?
The video cut out when you said how many hours you end up working as a P/T (.5). You said ~80 hours for full time after residency, what about part time? Thanks!
Part time would still be 40 hours
I'm 3rd year trying to figure out if I want FM or OB
I think both are amazing! I love women’s health and very drawn to the gyn aspect but couldn’t do the OB call schedule. So with FM I still get to do preventative medicine, contraception, procedures. But if you’re drawn to surgery then definitely the OB route.
@@drjennale I live on the east coast so FMP don't really do a lot of OB unless very rural communities. That's my only issue is the limitations.
What about FM + high risk OB fellowship. Would that still be hard get Hospial privileges?
