Wish this were in English, or at least subtitled. Why can't we get cool shows like these in English?

Why not use a faster-spooling turbo or supercharger for lower RPMs, where you spend so much more of your time? Leave the inefficient crap for over 100mph. I'd rather feel that boost every time I stomped it, as soon as I stomped it.

I came so close to purchasing a 944 turbo as my first car in the early 90's. The dealer wouldn't sell it to me because he said I would kill myself. He was probably correct XD

  • @Baerchenization

The first 924 in my life I can respect. I guess I could do with other models, too, that are above the bare base model, but then I would prefer a 944 S2, maybe a turbo. There is a recent Porsche video of a special event at Porsche Silverstone facility, where they have two of these 924 (at least judging by the hood air intake).

well if want something in stock form the ventilator 944..is fairly quick higher top speed than turbo..normalily aspirated

  • @paulhunter123

why did they not use a porsche engine in the carrera

still only had the audi motor but did have eurospec pistions larger turbo and intercooler...could push 160 mph easily..many drivers refered to them as iron fist inside of a velvet glove

    • @texasbeast239

The original contract for the 924 was for 100,000 Audi engines. Porsche was working on a new motor behind the scenes, but they had to honor the contract first.
The proprietary Porsche motor went into the 944 first, I think, and then in later 924s once the original contract with Audi was fulfilled.

    EVAN THE BOER,
    LISTEN UP!!!
1ST GENERATION AUDI POWERED GARBAGE, I AGREE! BUT, the 924 evolved into the 944, later the much better 924S Powered by Porsche, 944 Turbo, 944S, S2, and later 968 ! 924S and 944's have the 928 motor cut in half per say. Design of the 2.5 came from the 928 V8 ! The Special Edition MO30 924S shames the original 924 Turbo with 60 extra Horsepower and much lighter and better M030 suspension pkg! Without Porsche's 944 there would be no Porsche today as it saved the company from bankruptcy and demise and there wouldn't be a PANAMERA built today!

He's full of it. It was developed by Porsche. Handles like a Porsche. Raced like a Porsche. Whatever it was developed as is pretty much irrelevant. Compared to pretty much *all* the mid 70's garbage it was a winner. Following the 70's energy crisis it's obvious to anybody with half a brain Porsche needed a big seller to survive the harsh days.

Lol no. VW never owned Porsche back then. So you're basically saying a Lambo and Ducatti are a Volkswagen. Logic is so stupid its not even funny.

    • @EvanDB
      @EvanDB Před 10 lety +1

JDMEXforme In the video they even said that the Porsche 924 was designed to be a Volskwagen, but volkswagen eventually went with the scircco and Porsche produced it as the 924

EvanThaBoer What Porsche do you own? You must have a 911 right?
I love my 924. It isn't this wildly expensive rare collector's version, but it's still hella light and handles spot on. May not be the fastest car in the world, but it outmaneuvers most.

While that is essentially true, this car (the Carrera GTS) was far different from the first 924. Not to mention they were built at the Porsche factory and raced relatively successfully at Le Mans.
