I love the communication on loving the hair God gave us naturally. We were so brainwashed into thinking our hair was not right and that it is unmanageable, too nappy, too this, too that, but whole time it was locking up as it was supposed to be doing. And are the most beautiful coils in the world. And we can do anything to our natural hair that we want to and without using chemicals to achieve it. We are born royal and in the likeness of the most high, but this world tends to make us think otherwise! We are the most highs most beautiful creation and its too bad and so sad that some of us can't believe that!
Amen Amen Amen!!! There's a lot we have to unlearn as a community. I'm committed to showing up and embracing our Royal beauty because young people need to see the representation.

I love and agree with everything you said. I've never said "I love my hair" until I got locs, and even then it took me at least 2.5 years of wearing locs to feel that way. It's crazy. But it true. And we do need to talk about and address the standards of "good hair" within our community
I’m happy you learned to love your hair! It’s not always easy but it’s worth it, like many other things in life. That “good hair” bull crap is a lot to unpack!!! whewww!

That’s good! 8 weeks is not bad at all. Yes we ditched all those products taking up space in the bathroom! 🤣 I wanted sisterlocs at first but went with traditional instead.
@@nattyann Exactly!!!🤣... me too but that journey seemed to rigid/strict for me so I went the microlocs route was able to start with two-strand twists with diamond parting, which is great for the fullness and then we maintain it as my locs need it
Hi NattyAnn, Awesome job! I appreciate your simplicity and and how you appreciate and glorify your beautiful crown of locs. We have wooly hair like Jesus (Rev 1:14) Imagine Jesus trying to relax or wear a weave/wig because he doesn't like his wooly texture. We don't realize our hair is priceless gift...its our heritage...its our culture...its our glory...it's what sets us apart...it's our DNA. Can you do a video from the very beginning of your loc journey to now? It would be nice to see the process from baby locs to mature locs.

Once you start accepting that our hair isn't going to be like everyone else's hair then that's when we start loving our hair. Wearing wigs and weaves are fun but I feel like it's become a crutch or an addiction, you start to feel like you HAVE to wear a wig to look good/presentable/acceptable.
We weren't born hating our hair, it took time. With that being said learning to love our hair is going to take the same amount of time and for some of us it may take even longer. Because we have to unlearn all the negative stereotypes and connotations that comes with having afro textured kinky hair.
I feel like if more people would get locs then we would start loving and embracing our hair more.
Whew! You hit the nail on the head with this one! I definitely agree. It’s like trying to fit a square into a circle! Going against ourselves causes too much friction. It does take a lot of unlearning. & no shade to the wig wearers but it usually looks better in pictures than in person.

@NattyAnn I think C-parts/Crescent parts have very defined C/ovular shape to them your parts on some videos can look like bricks also more rounded so from the words of your loctician, i think you have the organic/grab-and-go parts which look awesome on you and definitely leaves no scalp exposure unlike the others from my opinion 👍🏾
PS- the way you described your two hair textures describes mine to a T!! I realize I even have to treat the sections differently/more or less gingerly. Its interesting.

Awesome video lady 🌹! That was me 🙋🏿♀️! I definitely obsessed over my loc parts 🤦🏿♀️. I have diamond parts mostly and square parting in the front. My sister still does my retwists for me but when I do it I don’t even use a comb and barely a mirror 😅, so I know they’ll get lost eventually. And I’m okay with that now. Looking back it seems silly the amount of time I wasted watching videos just on parts alone😭! Thank you for sharing this ❤️! Your retwist looks great 😍🤗!

I spray my hair with water mixed with essential oil (tea tree or lemon) depends on what smell I want. Then I coat my hair with grapeseed oil
How long did this take? The Bantu knots are so cute
It takes me like 3 hours to retwist my hair 😩

Yes I go underneath my hooded dryer which I love, it’s drys it pretty fast. Gosh my hair is so heavy, I’m starting to feel the weight even when dry. 😅 Your install date is coming up soon, so exciting! What size loc are you going for?
@@nattyann, the loctician called them smedium. She’s gonna have to work some real black girl magic because I have pretty bad temporal hair loss as well as hair loss on the nape of my neck. I’m not sure if it’s due to many years of having my hair permed or the autoimmune conditions I have. This is my second journey and I’m more excited this time around than the last so I’ll be embracing it more. Thanks for responding back to my questions. Definitely have a new subscriber in me.

You have fee -form parting, so I do I even tho I wanted oval shaped which I do have but I also added random locs for more locs in these pass three years but I made sure I still have my middle part for braids and space buns. I’ll try the Bantu knot method because I can’t do the ponytail method without my hair being too tight or too short to fit in the ponytail. Also my locs are very loose, almost straight in my last row but I impulsively cut it earlier this year and it’s take forever to grow it, let alone being so straight. 3c/4a/4b texture for me. 4a in the back and looser in the front,but I also have soft hair so it takes two months for mine to Loc and my retwist never last more than a week or less. Yes it’s so much that people don’t wanna deal with it and that’s why we got all the relaxers and stuff.😂 I’m still sadly nit picky about my locs.
Yes that middle part is crucial when you want to do cute simple styles. I made sure my niece had that option when I stated hers. Since you have a softer texture what method did you use to start you locs?
Since you cut the back row does it look like an undercut style?
@@nattyann I started with two strand twists but by the second month, instant locd them.
@@nattyann it used to but I grew it out, had a previous undercut in 2019 but grew it out in the beginning of 2021, so that’s a year old and then I impulsively cut the last row in May but now it’s grow out to an inch but while I do use a crotech needle on them, they still come out after a wash sometimes plus the hair is SO loose back there so it’s gonna take away awhile for it to stay locd, preciously I had 3 inches of loc before I cut that row and I know that too a long time just to get to 3 inches like 6 months or more. :( I also use my phone has a mirror for the back of my head when I retwist to see the back of my head.

Hiii queen do u ever interlock?? Have u ever considered interlocking? I'm asking u because I maintain my locs with interlocking but I do it like once a year and I don't do any other maintainance between I freeform until it's time to interlock again. Your locs r beautiful so thick and so healthy and very informative video thank u😊
Hey love! I have never interlocked my hair. I haven't considered it because I think it's best to maintain with one method only. I started with palm roll and I'm going to stick with it. If you maintain with interlocking continue to do so, I think the consistency helps keep your hair uniformed. Do you consider yourself to be a semi free-former? Thank you for your kind words!

Yes I consider myself a semi former because I only interlocks once a year and I do no other kind of maintenance between so I definitely am a semi freeformer! If I feel like retwisting I usually do it right after a wash.
Very true...but the issue is if it's not loc'd it's hard to manage. And not everyone wants to loc their hair
