Take notice to the song "Freeze" it has a deep meaning he put in that song.
If you listen carefully to his Tagalog verse, he was talking about the word “Negro” which is a descriptive word back home with no racist connotations (Tagalog has a lot of Spanish origin words). We have 2 provinces here named Negro Occidental and Negro Oriental, and the inhabitants call themselves and are referred to as Negrito or Negro. Is a shock to many immigrants to find out that in American culture the word is has a whole different background rooted in racism and is used weapon. Ez’s learning and teaching at the same time.
Way back in colonial era, the spanish people went on an Island and saw many black, moreno (brown) people living in that area, so they decided to called the Island "Negros" witch means N word in English. So that's the reason why people don't care if you call them N. Basically saying an N word to the black people in the Philippines is not really a Big Deal.
Its Negros Occidental/Oriental, not Negro Occidental/Oriental. I know that, I'm from the city of smiles 6100 Bacolod city Neg Occ.

So many Filipinos like EZ get a culture shock when they migrate to the US and learn that they have to be careful with it.
True that, I'm from South America 🇨🇴 and the word negro is a word that we use in Colombia and don't mean anything but love.
but as the whole world can see, the U.S is a very sensitive country and most people just want to take advantage of the weak system they have.
