The Beatles started it AND they finished it! No other band has been as great as they are! As Paul said, they expected this thing to last about 10 years... but just keeps going and going! No other band has ever been as successful reaching so many different generations. I would actually say that if this planet lived for eternity, every generation (from their beginning onwards) would know and love their songs forever!

My then 7 year old son and I saw him in 2017. It cemented him as a 4th gen fan in my family. I was a little skeptical due to the price but it was worth every penny. Paul could sit home and count his money or half ass it through concerts but he didn’t. He played like it was he still had something to prove. Amazing and if you haven’t seen him, I’d highly highly recommend it once things open back up. His audience is of every age, color , religion etc.

I remember the day this song came out. When the Beatles released songs it was not like other bands.he radio stations would play the songs all day. When Abbey road was released it went to number one at the instant stores opened. The only people who got copies had pre-ordered weeks before. When the Hey Jude single came out it was the same. It sold 8 million copies. I came home from school that day, I had a quick afternoon tea, then listened to the song on my transistor radio while walking over to the dairy for milking the cows. Because it was such a long song I got in trouble for walking slow and being late for milking. We always had a radio on during milking, so I got to hear it several more times, but I have never forgotten the experience of that song as I was walking to the milking shed. It is burned in my memory, the damp red soil, the emerald green of the grass with waterdrops, the misty rain clouds slowly lifting, the smells, and the sounds of cows and dogs, and the motors of the milking machines warming up, and the song on that tinny little transistor in the air, and Paul McCartney’s message to John Lennon’s son.

There is nothing better than being at a Paul McCartney concert! He plays to a packed audience ranging from kids to his original fans from the 60s. Everybody is feeling the love and having the best time. I took my son and granddaughter so they could have this experience. Both are Beatles fans because they heard me playing Beatles songs while they were growing up. My son said I had this big smile on my face that he had never seen before. I told him that smile is for Paul and me just feeling pure happiness at being there. Love Paul McCartney!! 😊❤️🎵

I have worked a number of Paul McCartney shows over the years, mostly Steel Crew and as a Production Climber. You will be pleased to know that Sir Paul's Road Crew loved working for him. Anything they needed to make the tour work better, they could ask Paul directly and he would take care of it. Unheard of in Rock and Roll tours, Paul gave his crews 2 raises on at least one of his World Tours. To stand on stage with Paul, waiting to start the Production Load Out was one of the high points of my career, having listened to the Beatles since the 1964 Ed Sullivan show.

One reason this is one of the greatest of Beatles songs - it was written for Julian, AND it was written for John. “You were made to go out and get her” and “you’re waiting for someone to perform with” and the beautiful sentiment:
‘Don’t carry the world upon your shoulder’
In one of the last interviews, John claimed as much, saying something like ‘that’s the angel in him blessing me and saying ‘go’ but the devil side didn’t want me to go’

Paul stopped comforting him after a while and John just didn’t see him as often as Julian would have liked. Julian said in an interview that it’s always awkward whenever he and Paul are in the same room together and it’s probably because other than John, Paul was the dad, but he “left” as well.

Yes, that was one of Sir Paul's many (solo)concerts, it must have been a while ago as his (first) wife Linda is in the band. We saw him late 2017, 50 years tour in his 70s. Still brought the stadium down and now I can't hear his music without feeling even more emotional ❤

Love, love, love this song. I can’t believe he’s playing on an upright! There is an iconic video of them performing on an Ed Sullivan type show where Paul is at a noticeably banged up upright surrounded by the band & audience members. I wonder if he wanted to recreate that.
The studio version is outstanding as well.

This song by the Beatles came out in 1968 when I was 13. I still have the vinyl 45 single I got the week I first heard it on the radio. It's a magical song to hear live and please go see Paul if he comes anywhere near where you live. You will never forget it.

One of Pauls most emotional live moments, I guess. I love these old masterpieces as well as the latest charts music, but this is definitely one of the best ones. Greetings from Germany. A UK number one back in 1968, this almost typifies the Beatles at that time stretching beyond two minute pop and engaging pure emotion. Paul was always the voice for this, understanding the release that positive music could bring to a crowd. Interestingly, he shares a birthday with my brother.

You must understand that the Beatles were the conscience of young people. It was a really radical time when young people stood up and said peace is the answer for all. So there is a global unity and affection for the Beatles messages that helped bring so many together.

Yeah, unfortunately there are currently many who are very afraid of the world uniting as one, believing and fearing it will all be run by repressive 'liberal elites'. it seems sad to me they can't see the impulse to love and support each other across man-devised boundaries of race, class, nation etc does not have to be something fake, orchestrated from above, but is simply the most natural, most enlightened part of the human spirit. Meanwhile those same people pin their hopes on world leaders who lead Hitler-style rallies where they preach a clearly anti-Christ gospel of hate for their enemies, and the crowd bays obediently for blood and vengeance. Interesting times we live in...
