hi king of random you should freeze dry a popsicle and blend it to make it dust then see if it will form into cotton candy probs not gonna use this idea but oh well
First thing I thought as well. But the Popsicle is is probably just sugar, coloring, and flavoring, which would make it not too different from just making cotton candy directly.
The problem is if contains water or juice it should be 0% juice/water so it works well
I don’t think that would work because it would probably just make the machine sticky or something like that

My theory on why the freeze dried mentos reacted so quickly but stopped sooner is because it’s the inside that makes the fizz happen more so it doesn’t have to get through the first layer sine it’s already cracked

The freeze dried mentos is rougher from the cracks, so it has more nucleation sites, therefore more frothing.
Blend up a mentos and put it in a Diet Coke bottle. Try it with a mentos in a mortar and pestle as well.

The difference in the freeze dried mentos and the regular mentos may have been because the freeze dried mentos shell was cracked.
I know you dident ask for any sugestions but this is just a thought I had and maby somone alredy said this but I think You should take freze dried popsicles crush them into powder and put it in a coten candy machine.

Eggnog is literally melted ice cream. I've made eggnog from scratch and it's pretty much the recipe I use for making ice cream from scratch with nutmeg and booze.

Regarding your Mentos: likely the freeze dried Mentos are reacting more strongly because the shell is cracked. Try cracking the shell on the non-freeze dried Mentos and then comparing to the freeze dried Mentos.
