Copied from a comment I said on Reddit a while back on the exact same topic;
I'm confident we won't end up like United post Fergie because our squad right now is not only better overall, it is also a lot younger than Uniteds was in the 12/13 season. FSG might be stingy but they aren't idiots and the return of Michael Edwars, who was arguably just as important to our recent success as Klopp, has relaxed a lot of nerves.
Ideally my expectations would be a Top 4 finish and a good run in both Europe and the domestic cups potentially resulting in a trophy or two but if we finish next season with nothing its not a disaster by any means. Klopp left on his own terms when we were still a quality team unlike Fergie who was almost singlehandedly keeping a sinking ship afloat and unlike Wenger who at one point went 10 years without a major trophy and overstayed his welcome at Arsenal by several years to the point where it got very toxic with the fans. Even when Liverpool fell apart in the early 90's that mostly happened because that great Liverpool team of the mid-late 80's was an ageing squad by that point, was replaced too quickly alongside bad recruitment and the club failed to adapt to modern football. I can't see any of those problems repeating themselves especially with FSG and Michael Edwards at the helm
Then again, Rafa Benitez won the UCL in his first season in 2005. Bob Paisley reluctantly succeeded our greatest ever manager Bill Shankly in 1974 and then went on to win double the amount of major trophies that Shankly won in shorter period of time as well. Joe Fagan won a treble and did the threepeat in the league in his first ever season in 1984. Even Kenny Dalglish scored the winning goal on the final day of the season at Stamford Bridge to beat Everton to the league as player/manager in his first season as manager in 1986. Despite those examples, it would be very unfair to hold Arne Slot to those standards especially since the team is currently in transition

How would you define a failure for Slot? Because I think most people would say out of top 4 is failure. I’m thinking they’ll end up similar to Manchester United this season.
I think you’ll find that your team stay at the titanic hotel in Liverpool before they play at anfield. All teams do which is probably why you haven’t had any wins at anfield for quite a long time! So for you then yes it probably is a bad omen! But the reason why the hotel is there is because the old headquarters for Cunard ( the company who built the titanic is on the front of the river mersey). The building is one of the three graces)as called by ourselves). World famous and recognised all over the world for the skyline of the city from the river mersey…. The liver building, the port of Liverpool building and the Cunard building…. Little history lesson for you too!
