- In the latest Girardo & Co film we aim to settle the McRae family debate, who is the fastest McRae? Using Colin McRae's 1997 Safari rally winning Subaru Impreza, we pitch five times British Rally Champion, Jimmy McRae against his son, Alister McRae, who also won the British Rally Championship!

It was originally called Colin McRae: Dirt, but Codemasters removed the Colin McRae part from the name in Dirt 3. I would guess the reason for this was licensing issues.
But before dirt there was the Colin McRae rally games so...
Col would have rolled twice, fixed a puncture, and still gone under 2 mins :)
Miss those years.. in 2020 if they put hybrid for me it would be the end of wrc
@@LorenzoClara97 I think WRC should go a different route in motorsport. They should do something unique yet efficient like Mazda's HCCI engine.

I love that the car is still beat, it doesn't just sit in display somewhere waisting away. Colin would have wanted the car to keep on living I think, glad to see it does.
Im so late but I totally agree to an extent. I feel like it definitely should be preserved as long as possible, but definitely not sitting in some display case somewhere. The perfect middle ground.
Its good to see the McRaes together. The drives together with the Co drivers voice reminds me of the times I drove as Colin on the Codemasters Playstation 2 game! Thanks for helping us relive the past!

I seen Alister McRae at the Mount Stuart Classic and he was the quickest. Deceptively smooth driving style that hid his speed, but so talented. So quick.

The sound of a 555 works Subaru 👌 🔥 I’ve had the pleasure of seeing all 3 of the Mcrae’s rally over the years, most recently Jimmy on the RAC Rally a few years ago in his Porsche.

Mike UK wrc cars only have a computer controlled centre diff and all it does is split the power 50/50 to the front and back when your going in a Straight line. They don’t have abs,tc or esc so it is still all down to driver skill if it wasn’t anyone could jump in a car and win.

@@jamesbisset9891 are you joking? They did never had abs etc... Look on YT when they set the car for driver then you will see. Or just go to service area on rally day. Its almost as F1 settings...
I’ve watched and met all the McRae’s over the years truly great family all very engaging to talk to and all really down to earth... Met Colin when he rallied a Nova many many moons ago. Be good to see the latest generation McRae race for 15 super super talented!!!

Growing up watching him race I can say it was a pleasure especially when he came to the x games it was huge for us being from the states and he was my idol and I just posted a video of him today on FB and then stumble upon this gem. Amazing! RIP Colin and Johnny McRae

I did some work with Alister during pre-event testing when he was with Hyundai WRC team (back in 2000ish). He's one of the smoothest and most naturally talented drivers I've seen.
It's in their blood for sure. Jim McRae was very fast in his day too. Rest In Peace Colin.

I've always been infatuated with the sound of the Quattro e2. But that subaru boxer engine has always sounded mean! Those turbo chirps are music to my ears!
