He never had someone with him in the basketball court at the beginning or in the Daisy Mart, his parents only appeared after he was attacked not in the party, he dressed like Aaron Z because he didn't have role models and he stayed with the girls during Mei's panda battle instead of running and hiding because they accepted him.
Apparently Aaron Z is Blasian as well, that's why Tyler either feels a connection or sees himself in Aaron Z, either way that's why he's his favourite 4Town.
After all there's always the idiot/stupid friend of the group, but what I really liked and made feel so sad for this character (to the point where I almost cried and wanted to give him hugs and all the love he deserve, P.s. he's my little brother now) was how he's actually alone and just want friends. It's normal for a teen to do this kind of things (annoy or make fun of others) just for attention especially if they feel lonely/just want friends. I'm really happy with his character development and it was really cute to see how "vulnerable" he actually was and how he wasn't really ashamed of going to a place which is usually more common for a girl than a boy (and you know those stereotypes of a boy that must be manly etc.) he actually looked a bit "shy" but overall more like himself and more comfortable/real compared to his school/public personality. He's one of the best characters in my opinion. 1:20 - 1:36 - 1:39 Also this, I love this. Usually the guy is actually the love interest so if a girl have even the most remote moment of interaction with the guy it's immediately a possible couple, however here this hug is pure and genuine happiness of finding someone who enjoy what you enjoy without any romantic feeling, just a simple friendship and it's really cute. 1:33 Also this is so relatable and cute, they are so happy that they are freaking out together (in a way too much relatable way XD) and I love it.

I’ve known boys similar to Tyler in real life, and they were pretty annoying, but they didn’t do anything that was genuinely damaging to me. So I ultimately didn’t really mind hanging around them sometimes. They ended up being something like frenemies, I suppose. Again though, that’s just my own experiences and point of view.

Either way Tyler was clearly lonely and dealt with it by being snarky, now he has friends and it was a shared love of a band that brought them together. And now he can be more honest about the fact that he likes the band (attraction or admiration I get the feel he felt that he should be embarrassed that he was a 4Townie and thought he should keep it a secret).
