Cobblestones.
The Node D7i is a folding bike for riding on cobblestones. The 24" diameter wheels reduce the jarring effect, and are more stable on steep declines (especially when wet).
I use it in Paris, perfect to store in my ground floor tiny apartment where no bike racks are available. Easy to put in a car for trips.
It would be the ultimate perfect bike with a Gates drive belt.
Fabulous video, thank you. Has really helped me to focus on Tern as my next bike choice 👏🏻👍🏼
Great video and explanation, thanks for sharing. Your video and explanation certainly has me interested in this brand now.
This was really helpful, thank you!
I'm so glad!
Great review. The Tern Node D7i is AMAZIING. I've never had to service this bike in 2 years. Aside from changing the tires to Vee Speedsters. After the Schwalbes wore out. Which made it even faster and more comfortable.
It's a wonderful bike.
Thanks for sharing. Glad you are liking your bike :)
I love my Tern Node. I actually got it years ago from REI AS A RE branded rei bike. (33%off members sale was a steal). I have Health issues and bought a Swytch kit and it’s e powered now. :). Super sturdy awesome folding bikes. Mine is at least 8years old now and solid as a rock. I just ordered a new magnet and rubber latch. That’s it. It is amazing
I'm so jealous of your beautiful greenways! Even your narrow bike lanes seem like a luxury compared to what we have out here in the NYC area. Roads were neglected during the pandemic and it's now completely hazardous for narrow tires - thankfully the GSD's fat tires have made city riding less nerve wracking!
Yes, god love the 2.0+ tires on most of the Terns!!!
We are moving to Durham, NC which also has questionable roads...

Yes theyre smooth and hold the road beautifully. And there's not alot of difference in bike speed. I've run 1.1 schwalbe duranos on my folder in the past. And 2 inch Vee Speedsters. And on average my loss in speed was less than a mile per hour. BUT my change in comfort and stability went up considerably.
I’m falling in love.
question: why not make a full suspension folding bike that folds at the swingarm pivot?
Hi there, this looks like a great cheaper alternative to the verge s8i. Can you attach a child seat onto the rear rack to carry along a child?
Can we lose the fenders without effecting other components?
I have the D7i and LOVE IT!!! The 24 inch wheels is what I wanted as the 20 inch wheels get TOO small for me. I just miss riding in a city with my bike. I also have the ride pocket and love it. It is convenient. Which bag was on the rack on the back?? Another question..I was always told to change gears only while moving, does it hurt the gears of you change when not riding?
Hey hey!
1. The DryGoods Bag
2. I find on an internal geared hub it is helpful to pause your pedaling, opposite of when you have a derailleur. This way there isn't torque on the inside of your hub when you are shifting.

Thanks for that video. Looks like y have a nice job working for Tren bikes!!! Does the lights on the D7i have a on / off swith ?? 😊
the front does
Bike lanes! A must for any developped country….. of which there are few…
I love this color and is wondering if it's still available because the color available for order come only in black unfortunately.
Black is the only option now :(
hello again, Does the chain guard on the Node D7i make a noise when the chain is going through it, or another way of asking, does the metal chain rub against the plastic? . Is the plastic guard easily replaced? Thank you.
It can rub more or less depending on how tight your chain is.
I'm not sure about the plastic guard replacement since I haven't needed to replace mine yet :)

Please, one question... Can this Tern model roll once folded? Or does it not slide and you have to carry your weight to move it? Thank you!
It can roll once folded😊
Also for packing a folding bike to fly with: do you do anything special to pack it? How do you prevent it from damage?
I fly with the BYB, a much smaller folder. Why the Tern BYB Folding Bike?

I'm 5" 11", at a stop sign, would my feet hit the ground to support me while i still remain fully seating on the bike?
Your height doesn’t come in to play, that’s all seat height adjustment. Ideally your toes are tippy toe so you have good leg extension when pedaling.
Hey, few questions:
1. What is the adjustment range of that "andros" stem? It isn't explained on the site, does it go from like... 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock? Or?
2. Why no Belt Drive? Would it cause mechanical complications for a folding bike?
3. What is the seatpost diameter? I'd like to add suspension. Also Is it "quick release"?
I would say 11 o’clock (towards the rider) and 5 o’clock towards the tire.
❤
What I really miss from Tern is a folding bike that can deal with 330lbs/150kg riders - or at least an option to upgrade. In Europe most public transport services allow to carry folded bikes or bikes up to 20" for free. I know that Bike Friday (US) and Bernds (Germany) offer bikes but why can't Tern?
Just a remark: I'm asking for safety not for warranty issues. I'm happy to lose warranty or accept a higher wear and tear but I'm not happy with collapsing frames/stems while riding hence I've not ordered one yet.
I love it, I just emailed Tern team since I need to buy it. I wish they get back to me shortly! I am live in dubai and I do not know where I can fond D7i.
Hello! Glad you like it. I only cover North America so you'll need to reach out to a dealer near you.
@@CargoBikeLifecom, Unfortunately, there is no dealer for Tern in UAE! Can you help me pls.?
@@abazaabdelmageid774 Unfortunately I can't. Have you emailed Tern?
@@CargoBikeLifecom Yes! But still waiting for their reply!
Nice video. Very informative. Quick question, how much does this bicycle weight?
Thanks, Jay! About 30-32 lbs.
@@CargoBikeLifecom Thank you :)
Sorry, another question. Are the handlebars made of steel or aluminum? The reason is that I would like to install a snap-on compass to it and if steel, the compass may not work correctly. Thanks again.
Ditch the bigger cameras... I have a Sony a7s3 and an Sony a7r3 and both are too heavy to vlog with. I usually leave them at home. GoPro or smaller point and shoot like the Sony zv1 or canon g7x 2 work the best.
Plus I am thinking of buying a tern verge x11
Don’t need more gear. If I’m out for client work, I’ll use what I have :)
Excited to hear that you are interested in the verge!
Hello. Can I fit this bike in an oversized suitcase by folding or removing it?
There are ways to fit some of the smaller 20” bikes in luggage. I would recommend checking out the BYB if you really want to travel. czcams.com/video/mXEbkzVSzq8/video.html
Hi, I'm really interested in the Tern Node. Would you know if this fits in the trunk of a sedan (e.g. Civic, Corolla)?
Hello! I haven’t tried it but I would think so!
@@CargoBikeLifecom Thanks!
What helmet is that? And where is the link to the dynamo light review? Thanks.
I’ve posted a few videos on dynamo lights!
Here’s the latest: Are Dynamo Bike Lights Worth It? (And why I tried them on my Tern Short Haul)
czcams.com/video/C4STuHZ61o4/video.html
@@CargoBikeLifecom Thanks for both replies.
Hi, it's possible to carry a child seat on the rack and how much wait can carry (child seat + child)
Technically yes, but I don’t really recommend it.
@@CargoBikeLifecom Thanks. Which Tern non electric bike would you recommend to carry my daughter with a child seat?
I'm interested in the Verge S8i - but is it just a Gates belt and smaller wheels for double the price of a D7i?
There are a number of differences - which affect the price of the two bikes. If you use the compare feature on the Tern website it will show a nice side-by-side comparison of the 2 models. The biggest difference for the cost of the Verge S8i being more expensive compared to the Node D7i is it having nicer stock components and most notable - the frame and fork are a higher quality, hydroformed alloy - Shimano hydraulic disc brakes - Shimano 8 speed Alfine hub with Gates Belt Drive. It comes down to what you are looking or in a bike and if the upgrades are worth it to you. Both are great options, but personally I can't wait to get my hands on the Verge S8i!
Tern is not making 24’’ wheel bikes anymore? Only 26?
This model is 24”
