Tough as nails, and a great champion. I first saw Wayne racing at Laguna Seca for the 1988 USGP. His Honda would violently buck and weave coming downhill through turn nine (now Rainey Curve). Scary? Maybe a little. My girlfriend, an emergency room nurse, would cover her eyes every time he came by!
Wayne Gardner was the hard man of GP racing. He was frightened of nobody... Fantastic. He also was a bloody fine road racer, I mind him racing at the Ulster Grand Prix but the mad bastard threw it down the road at Wheelers..
I was there at the fence on the last bend before the finish straight. Incredible race. When the crowds finally left the circuit, the locals were waving and cheering everybody as we past their houses on the way home.
My brother and i snuck into the start finish straight grand stand. Was one of the best days and nights i have had, walking up and down the traffic jam after the race talking to everyone, sneaking beers at 15 yrs old. Memories. Very sad a police officer lost his life on traffic control that night.
These videos are really good, thank you simon. Wayne gardner was always my favourite character from the "age of superheroes" even if he had never won a title... his pitbull like riding was amazing

Thanks Wayne... all bike racers are brave, but you are bravest of the brave.

Always had a soft spot for old Digger Gardner. Saw his last race at Donnington in 92 and he went and bloody won it. You beauty.

I was there too, standing at Scwantz... He was a very popular winner that day.

What are you doing with your feet in change of direction?
Weight on the pegs is covered here: czcams.com/video/_E4b-DrYOg4/video.html
Sorry, I should have been more specific. What I meant was foot positioning. How do you position feet in change of direction?
The one person who gave it a thumbs down was a PF Chili fan. :))
